Hubby and I stayed here the day after our wedding as it was essentially halfway between my parents' place in Ohio, and Atlanta. I made the reservations a month and a half ago, for a special deal that cost $200 called the celebration package. It included: dinner and breakfast at the Kilbern House, a room upgrade with king sized bed, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries.

Well, when we got there, we were told I made the reservation, but only for a regular room, and that there was nothing that said we asked for the celebration package. Not only that, but they treated me like it was my fault the person I talked to didn't properly write it out. I was infuriated and was just about ready to leave when they finally said they could give us the package, but that the chocolate covered strawberries take 3.5 to 4 hours to make, so if it was all right, they would give us a nice cheese and fruit plate. We were fine with that.

So, we went to the Kilbern House, only to find out they did not have a single vegetarian entree. They didn't even have anything that could easily be made vegetarian, either. They were all steak and mashed potatoes, salmon with rice, and so on. When I asked the waitress what I could have as a vegetarian, she basically looked at me like I was an alien from outer space. So I ended up eating fried green tomatoes (served with a sweet and spicy corn relish - it was really damned good!), a baked potato, and a wedge salad, which was the only salad not smothered in bacon. The biscuits were pretty good, too.

I don't know. The room itself was nice, and we did end up getting chocolate covered strawberries (and more than usual, apparently), but I'm still annoyed at their initial rudeness, and their apparent disgust with vegetarianism. I guess I'd give them 3.5 if I could, but don't feel quite generous enough to give them 4.

Oh, and the champagne that came with our deal was gross, too, FYI.
