Review from Kendra M.
Miami, FL
I held my wedding and a whole weekend of activites here.
Wonderful!
To start with, we were treated like family when visiting the resort, before even agreeing to have our event here. We live in Miami, but wanted the relaxing, small-town feel that we felt at the Crowne, hence we booked our wedding right away.
The venue is beautiful and the staff is amazingly friendly. Whatever we would have wanted is what would have been done. Our families/friends loved being able to spend the day a the beach and attend our wedding on-site.
I can only reccommend this place for anyone in the market to host an event. And we would return here for vacation. Nice rooms, great staff, beach-side bar, what can be better?! -

The hotel was nice and had a very nice deck on the outside where you can eat breakfast and dinner. They also have direct beach access. The reason I only give it three stars is because the bar expensive, as in very expensive, even by hotel standards. $8.50 for a glass of red wine that I know for a fact costs $6.99 for the whole bottle. The a/c is loud when it kicks on and the walls are fairly thin. The gym kind of sucks too. There is only one piece of weight equipment and it was "out of order". The two bicycles are missing the foot straps which make them hard to use on higher levels. The staff had no idea what happened to the straps. The waitstaff was very nice and polite when we were there though.

If you're looking to stay on the beach, this may be the place for you. The Crown Plaza is a nice beach hotel on A1A with everything you might need for a little getaway...bar, restaurants, pool, ocean view, etc. However, it's not worth the money you pay for it during spring break season. These are not $140 rooms...they are more like $80 rooms. We could hear kids screaming from the pool all the way up on the 7th floor, and the music that seems to be played for most of the evening could also be heard from inside the room. The rooms are pretty dated, and the furniture is worn and chipped in places. The balcony makes the rooms look like a cheap motel from the way they are set up. Let's face it: it's nothing like the website.
We were here for a wedding and experienced some of the food. At the rehearsal dinner, everyone's plate was freezing cold because the staff did not keep any of it heated properly while the other plates were cooking. However, the drinks were good, so at least we were able to forget about that pretty quickly.
If you can get a great deal on a room, this place is fine...but if you're paying more than $80 a night, you're being ripped off. -

Had a great stay here for a week of beach and sun. The rooms are average sized, but we stayed in a 2-room suite. The 2 room suites were great. The suites have a kitchen with dishes and a fridge and freezer. The ice maker in the freezer was a life saver with the hot days on the beach. The pool is great, but no umbrellas on the deck, so bring your own. The patio had a great bar, and live music every day we were there. One day there was a full band with steel drums that played great tropical music.
The beach in front of the hotel has some reef rocks, so you should walk up the beach a bit to avoid them in the water. There is a public park and beach with lifeguards immediately south of the hotel that has a much flatter beach break that is perfect for kids and easy surfing.
The rooms were very clean considering all the sand that gets drug into beach-side hotels. Rooms needed a dehumidifier, but the hotel had them in the room. Not surprising considering how incredibly humid Florida is. We had a problem with the door handle, and they had it replaced within 15 minutes. The staff were very helpful. We had issues printing our plane tickets from the business office and they helped us immediately to get them printed.
Pro's: great staff, clean rooms, clean pool and hot tub, easy access to the beach, great local restaurants, secure pool area that is monitored to keep freeloaders out, free valet parking.
Con's: it is across the street from the Melbourne Beach fire department, so there are sirens from time to time. Also - the air conditioners are a bit loud. Use the complimentary ear plugs found in the sleep-well packet on the bed that you will find when you check in. -

Stayed here for two nights on business back in Oct'2010 and enjoyed the stay for the following reasons:
- Great location right on the beach
- Hotel bar with deck (again, right on the beach)
- Friendly staff (at check-in, hotel restaurant for breakfast, bar)
- Free snack at check-in
- Rooms have a balcony
Although the room visually looks nice, it feels somewhat old and dated, the bed was not overly comfortable, and the A/C is loud. I did not sleep well either nights here.
The room photos that were not uploaded by me do represent the room, with one major exception, that being the door to the balcony. Mine was not a sliding glass door, but instead, an old, rusted metal door that did not fully shut or lock (meaning if you pulled back on it, it would slide open!). This was the case with my boss's room as well!
See my photos for what my room looked like (standard king room) -- maybe the other pictures are of a king view room? -

Traveled to Melbourne for business. The Crowne Plaza was recommended by my customer. It's a very nice hotel. It could use a little updating, but having a room with an ocean view and a balcony to sit with my laptop, work and gaze at The Atlantic, all I can say is I've had much more difficult duty.
The room was clean and efficient and the staff was very accomodating, A nice property for the price, this will be my regular while meeting my customers. -

Stayed in a basic room. I feel the price is fine for the area. The hotel is clean and all of the staff that I interacted with were very friendly. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times and the food is good. I would say food prices are a little high, but that is the price for staying on the beach.
We had an issue with our electronic door lock breaking. The staff made it a priority and had to completely replace the lock. They were very apologetic and we were back in the room in about 25 minutes.
Overall, I would say the Crowne Plaza offers a great value for the price and I would stay here again. One a side note, when I stayed they offered a 25% military discount on food. -

Satellite Beach, FL
Best location for the view beachside, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
We go there on Sundays for the live reggae and it's usually packed and a good time - no complaints about going there to drink and listen to reggae.
We went at 11am in Sunday and when I went to order breakfast, I was told that I had to eat the buffet or order from the lunch menu. Well I just wanted some eggs over medium, and wasn't going to get the value from the buffet, so I just drank instead. We ordered some spicy bloody marys, and they were nice and spicy, but seemed weak.
Final verdict:
View/atmosphere: awesome
Drinks: ok
Food: blah -

Formerly The Holiday Inn Oceanfront, The Crowne Plaza opened several years ago after the destructive 2004 hurricane season.
Since I live just a few minutes away I use the Crowne Plaza as a nice place to enjoy a cold beer while people-watching and feeling the ocean breezes after work from their deck. Tap beers range from $2 - $4 depending on happy hour. The wait staff are uniformly friendly and efficient. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are available with inside or outside seating but I really can not comment as basically I use The CP as a beer drinking spot.
The Wednesday evening jazz nights are a good bet for an eclectic after work crowd. The Sunday afternoon bands are general quite good as well with a local favourite named 23 Treez playing quite often.
For a change of pace Lou's Blues is a 10 minute stroll north along the beach.
