Pretty nice business traveller hotel.
There are several perks:
- You're not nickled and dimed on internet access - wireless is free on the first seven floors, and floors 8-10 have a free wired connection.
- The room features a nice, large desk for work. Plenty of space for laptop and papers.
- There's a surprisingly good workout room, for a business hotel. A number of excellent cardio machines, from treadmills to ellipticals, clearly fairly new and in great condition. I didn't see any weights, but the exercise room is apparently being renovated. Any way, hotel guests get a $9/day guest rate at a nearby gym in "Strawberry Court", a couple of blocks over.
- The pool is DEEP. The deep end is 9'. That's crazy luxury.
- Water pressure, water temp, cleanliness, front desk service, etc, are all excellent.
The only meh parts are that the rooms are slightly small, the beds and pillows are slightly overstuffed, and the hotel restaurant/room service runs to fatty new-ish American food. But what do you expect? Pretty standard for a business hotel. The free toiletries that come with the room are above average - very generous servings of shampoo, conditioner, etc., bergamot-ginger scented.
Interestingly - local calls are 75 cents each (totally reasonable), but there are several local businesses with deals with the hotel, so you can call them for free - delivery joints, a day spa, a barber shop.

This is probably the best hotel value in the Harrisburg area. The hotel is extremely well-kept (both maintenance and cleaning), the staff is very professional and courteous, the beds are firm and comfortable, and I've always slept exceptionally well when staying there.
The building is an older high-rise hotel, but it was extensively renovated in recent years, and is branded under Holiday Inn's "Crown Plaza" business-traveler line. As a result, the rooms are on the small-ish side (in keeping with the hotel's original construction) but are extremely well-appointed and spotless -- characteristic of the "Crown Plaza" brand.
The only negative is limited parking at the hotel itself. However, there is usually sufficient on-street parking surrounding the hotel, and I've never had any problems with parking there.
If you want a really nice, clean room at a decent price (for the area), you'll be very pleased by this hotel.
Me and my girl made a trip to the Harrisburg/Hershey area to hit up Hershey park (of course) and figured we could at least get a nice room while we were out in the area. I'm glad we did too, because this was a very nice hotel in an area where we could find food and/or entertainment without looking to hard.
The only real complain I have isn't even against the hotel itself, just the location. 2nd Street is apparently a pretty busy street during most hours of the day, and the hotel valet garage exits directly onto 2nd. So if you're trying to catch front street to head to I-83 (north or south) you have to wait for your opening, bolt across traffic, then catch the next left (Blackberry St). Again, not a huge complaint, but proved to be a bit of a task a few times we left.
Aside from that one gripe, everything was great. The hotel was very nice and clean, with a friendly and helpful staff. They helped us up to our room, made sure everything was good, and the front desk even rang up to say thanks, how is the room, and did we need a wakeup call.
I got a great deal on the room too by booking online (through the hotel website) they had the advance purchase option, where you pay in full in advance. Got a steal if you ask, and beat out the local competition hands down.
There was plenty of places to grab a bite in the area which was helpful to avoid pulling the car from the valet just for food. But when we did need the car, a quick call ahead, and it was always ready to go by time we go down to the garage.
Hershey Park and other area attractions are not a far commute, so definitely a recommendation if you want to stay-in/visit the area.

I stayed here recently while traveling on Government business. And to quote "Family Guy's" Peter Griffin, "This place is freakin' sweet!" As a previous reviewer noted, this is one hotel in which the on-line photos don't lie. The place was immaculately clean and well-decorated. I had the King Bed Guest Room, which was perfect for my needs. The bed was enormous and so-o-o-o comfy .Too bad my husband Rick wasn't there to enjoy it with me---nah! There was also a nice writing desk and a roomy bathroom.
The hotel has a very good restaurant and lounge, 2wenty Thre3, so named because of its address. My compatriot from Philadelphia joined me for a drink there, but she had to catch the train home. 2wenty Thre3's restaurant is very good, but like all hotels of this caliber, it's a little pricey. If you are looking for cheaper eats or more variety, Harrisburg's Restaurant Row is nearby.
The hotel also has a semi-olympic sized pool in it. You can swim laps if you want and the deep end is 9 feet. So after letting my dinner digest, I hit the pool for a couple of hours. It was a wonderful way to cap off the day.
I had my choice of reserving the early bus back to Pittsburgh (see my review of Steel City Flyer http://www.yelp.com/bi... ) or reserving the afternoon bus, thus allowing me to sleep in, do some laps in the pool, have a leisurely breakfast, and take a tour of the State Capitol. Guess which one I chose?

Widely known as "the second-nicest hotel in Harrisburg," the Crowne Plaza is a fine place to spend the night. Recently remodeled and and possessing a (tiny) fitness center and (small) indoor pool, the Crowne Plaza sits two blocks from the river, two blocks from the train and bus station, and forms the southern boundary of 2nd Street nightlife. Parking ($8/day) is in the garage below, directly accessible from the main elevator.
The Hilton is supposed to be nicer, but this is plenty nice enough for a trip to Harrisburg.

For some hotels: Your on-line research raises certain expectations that dissapoint you when you actually arrive at the hotel. You think to yourself:, " Wow, that was good photography! How did they hide all that dirt and grime?"
For me, this hotel's photos from the internet pretty much describes my experience with them accurately.
What I enjoyed the most about this hotel was their cleanliness and the gift of "sleeping-aids" found on their bed. No, they did not give me any sleeping pills; But the earplugs and eye mask was helpful especially when visiting with kids who are excited about their trip to Hershey Park.
One negative aspect of this hotel was that their parking space was limited. Their parking was free, but each lot was so narrow, it was very challenging to park my van.

I wasn't that impressed. I had a large room with everything I needed but the television reception was poor, and the internet was on the slower side, AND their kitchen was out-of-service for the two nights I was there because they had an apparently "minor" fire in the kitchen the day before I had arrived, a piece of information I was volunteered by the front desk attendant... Not something I would think needs to be advertised to ones guests.
