12 reviews for Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills
This year's holiday work party was held here on a weeknight evening, in the ballroom. My friend got there early. The staff were gracious & made her feel comfortable while waiting for me.
The word was that parking would be $12 with validation, however I got lucky & found a spot around the corner for free.
My mushroom ravioli was the richest ravioli I have ever tasted. The salad was crisp, I liked the croutons, very buttery. The dessert I chose was a mini fruit tart, I would venture to say that was a 4 star tart.
I liked the close proximity of the restrooms to the ballroom.
I liked the music, the dancing & seeing the people I work with happy :) during the holidays.
This was the first hotel I stayed at, during my halloween 2009 trip to LA, and I will say I expected a bit more, out of the Crowne Plaza family. The room was okay, and as a platinium priority club member they gave a complimentary continental breakfast, which was nice.
HOWEVER the front desk staff is HORRIBLE! For one, my rental car broke down, so as i waited for the rental company to bring me another, i call the hotel and told them that my friend was going to cab it from LAX to the hotel, and to give her a key. They verified everything with me, since i was not there in person, which was nice, for my protection. but the knucklehead that took all the info never relaid the information any other of the staff, so my friend tried to get the key, and they told her that there no note about it, so now i have an upset friend at me, i called the hotel a number of times to tell them she's there, and wouldnt you know it, the hotel operator transfers me to the desk, and no answer. So, my friend ends up waiting in the lobby for a hour and half and then i called her back and told her to keep trying, and she asked the guy at the counter, and he said that theres nothing, by then the woman that took the info from cam up and said "i am so sorry i forgot to pass this along, yes, you have a key here" -- i was so angry
next we need to borrow a pair of sciccors, to tweek a halloween costume, and the front desk guy says, we dont have any, then goes some guest took them, and the supervisor said, they are in the drawer.
HOW LAZY ARE THEY?!?
Finally check-out is at 11 or 12 and the housekeeper POUNDED on the door at 830am.
DONT STAY HERE!!!
I ALSO STAYED AT HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS ON SANTA MONICA BLVD (4 MILES AWAY FROM THIS CROWNE PLAZA) AND THEY WERE SO MUCH BETTER!
This hotel should be ashamed of itself calling it the "Crown Plaza Beverly Hills." When I think of Beverly Hills, I think of rich, expensive, elegant, high-end, etc...The Crown Plaza BH isn't any of these words. It's more like - crappy, old, run-down, and pathetic. Drove up and no one was around to help with bags. We literally had to get our own cart to carry our bags. No bell boy service what-so-ever. Walking to the elevator was like walking into the Tower of Terror. The next morning, we took showers and the shower sounded like you were in the washing machine. The water was very unpredictable. The room was terribly small and outdated. The bathroom door hits the side of the bed. That's how dinky the room is. Not the greatest on space. Pricelined this hotel - 3.5 stars $95 night. Overpaid. Never again will I go 3.5 stars. Run from this hotel.
I was expecting more because of its location and for its 4 star boutique hotel rating. It's not as chic as it's website claims. The rooms and furniture were ordinary. The view towards downtown LA is great but make sure to stay above the 5th floor or your view will be obstructed by a neighboring apartment complex. The parking garage is completely seperated from the hotel and the elevator in the garage only fits two people, making the walk from your car to the hotel lobby seem like a journey.
After having stayed across the street at the Residence Inn by Marriott, I think this place is definitely nowhere near as good. The lobby was small and the staff didn't seem pleasant. They were staring meanly! I felt very unwelcomed in the lobby already. They did have someone who opens the door for you, which was nice and that person was not bad.
The elevator was a little difficult to find, especially for my friend but we eventually got there after a few detours. They have a small counter area where the coffee and mini bar is located. The room was a decent size with a full living room area separated from the bedroom. It was a tighter squeeze for the bedroom and the bathroom was a little too close for comfort.
I prefer staying at the Residence Inn right across the street.
The Crowne Plaza is an interesting hotel. They try VERY hard (most of the staff) but for some reason things just don't tend to come together all the time.
While I find the service good and the staff very nice and accomodating the elevators are slow, the walls are paper thin, and the room service is not worth ordering. In 'living' at this hotel for a three month period of time, twice the lock on my door was broken to the point where it had to be crow-barred off the door and replaced...nothing quite as assuring as watching how easily someone can break into your room. I also was locked out of my room at least once a week by someone who would accidentally check me out early.
I've since moved on to other hotels, but I think the Crowne Plaza is good for a short stay of a night or two or a few. Long term stay? Look elsewhere in the area.
Crowne Plaza was OK, but definitely not what I expect on the level of posh it made you believe. The location was fine, but not ideal. The elevators, lobby, etc. where boring or simple. It's definitely nicer that most - but NOT a 4 star.
I was surprised that the location of the hotel was so convenient to the main roads and freeways. It was also in a very residential part of Beverly Hills which made it even better - nice and quiet. There were no riff raff hanging out in front of the hotel and I felt pretty safe returning to the hotel during the wee hours of the night.
The staff were just so friendly and helpful. They were very attentive and eager to serve the guests.
Kudos for the Iced Citrus water and the Cucumber water in the lobby - the weekend I stayed in LA, it was almost 100 degrees! I'm one who can appreciate the thoughtful details.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There are just the little things that make it a step above. The water with lemon or cucumber. The fact that we were delivered a cheese and fruit tray welcome for no apparent reason. The neighborhood itself immediately surrounding it was a bit boring, but the hotel is close enough to a very nice area and Rodeo Drive. Only complaint is that the walls are a bit thin, but so many hotels have that problem.
I stayed here when I came to LA to househunt. I wanted to live in the Pico Robertson neighborhood and this was the closest hotel.
I agree with Robby -- everybody here is almost unbelievably nice. The hotel itself is fairly average for the price, but the esprit of the staff makes it a pleasant experience.
everybody who works here is SSSSOOOOOOO nice. i told them all about my adventures every day and they thought it was great. we had the greatest view in the world of downtown l.a. the room was very beautiful. i've stayed in LOTS of hotels and i really like this one.
mom view: extraordinarily pleasant staff. highly tolerant of precocious children. ok breakfast, chocolate croissants a big hit.
The location of this hotel is very convenient. I wouldn't mind staying here again. Staff is very friendly. The lobby and rooms were beautiful. I must mention that the parking lot elevator was out of order, and the walk-in entry/exit to parking was not well thought out.
