I've had two bonfires here and had a blast at each.
As Isa said, it's all about what you bring to the beach. Get a buncha palettes or scrap wood (from Home Depot, Dixieland, etc.), bring some beach toys, a buncha chairs, a bbq, and *layers*. It gets cold quickly come nightfall.
Parking is good but fills up on the weekends. As do the firepits, so if you want one, get here early (like, in the AM for an evening bonfire).
Dogs are allowed, as long as they're on a leash. I believe.
Oh, and don't forget to bring booze, of course. But no glass containers. Party cups are key here.
And over the summer, stay late enough and you can watch the fireworks at SeaWorld!
Good times.

I actually live in Crown Point, but I will try and make my review objective. I love Crown Point, it's the perfect part of PB. Far enough away from Garnet, so it's not super crazy, and you can still find parking, but right on the bay! and you can't beat the nightly fireworks in the summer!
The bay-beach is pretty good too. Good for bonfires and families. I also really like how there is grass, in addition to the sand. Also a stellar place to take a run/ walk. I'll take the bay over some sweaty, crowded gym any day.
Watch out for the nazi lifeguards though. And if you drink, be careful because you will get ticketed if you are drinking past 8pm, even though there is only a really small sign that you totally miss at the entrance...We learned the hard way...
Wrong Zip Code here- should be 92109.
In any case, for a bayside venue (sand, bay water, grass, fire pits, etc.), this place rates A-OK. Good parking, restrooms, fire pits, etc... You have 2 bring the fun and then you're all in for a good time.

a bunch of sand and shells, no the shells won't mess up your feet.
a lot of sand and grass, cement to ride your bike on or go roller blading.
don't know what the weekend crowd is like, probably crowded.
fireworks can be seen at night(during the summer)
a few fire pits
people looking for AA meetings and druids
the lot closes at 10 but the cars already there can exit.
there's a sign that says "Exit after 10 pm(with an arrow pointing to the right)" FOLLOW IT. DON'T TURN LEFT.
Pretty nice place.
Watch out of the rotating sprinklers.
