I am in LOVE with Marina del Rey after this tour!!  "Captain Dennis" led us around the harbor, showed us all the boats, Burton Chance Park (where they have free concerts throughout the summer, btw), celebrities' boats, where "Father of the Bride" was filmed (this tidbit was probably way cooler in like 1995), and gave us info tidbits about California.

It was such a beautiful day but there were some other Europeans on our tour with us who insisted on using the optional provided umbrellas.  Though they were incredibly pale.

The boat is tiny, really about 2 other people could have fit on the tour with us because there isn't much seating.  Probably fits about 8-10 for a tour.  And it's also very hard to hear anything Captain Dennis is saying because you are sitting right next to the propeller/motor thingie in the back.  They should maybe invest in a better sound system.

But it was definitely worth the 10 bucks.  It was so beautiful!  Nevermind the haze...

It's been a while since I've done this but I had a friend who wanted to do some touristy things and it was a beautiful spring day -- what a better way than to spend it out on the water in Marina del Rey!  We took the Summer Beach Shuttle from Playa Vista over to Fisherman's Village and hopped on the Tour boat right behind the El Torito's.  For $10 per person ($6 for kids) it was a fun way to see the Marina, learn about it's history and hear the gossip about the various boats and their owners.  Captain Denny, who narrated the tour was so informative and fun -- he even let two kids "captain" the tour boat to the delight of their parents, but safely under his supervision.  What a thrill for them!    I only wish it could have lasted longer than the 45-minutes and that we could have had a drink while we cruised!
