Hmmm.  Portland's best kept secret?  Thinks me so considering the lack of raving reviews here.  Great place to kill a few hours when the rain is pouring down.  Check out Tim's section in the far left part of the store for great no wave, post-punk, delicacies.

Crossroads is a good place to bring your record-loving dad.  Here he can browse his heart out through tons of old LPs from his college years in Crossroads Music, Hawthorne's record store which is home to dozens of different vendors.  Although predominantly vinyl, there are also plenty of CDs and tapes here, along with second hand speakers, turntables, receivers, and old concert posters.

This place has a lot of records, and they help independent owners sell their shit too, which is nice. However, what's not so nice is that they aren't exactly alphabetical. On the plus side, when you have a couple hours to kill it's fun to look through every sellers library for hidden gems. Sadly, most of these sellers know what to keep and what to sell so a lot of times you might go empty-handed. I usually go on ebay but sometimes it's fun to freak out the hipsters when I walk in with my robes and disciples looking for some old sam and dave lps. The staff is helpful but they work on different days and some don't know where anything is. Wide selection but you need to look for it and sometimes people lose patience and just leave. Persistence is the key though, I once got a live Commodores record for $3 that had no scratches whatsoever. An added bonus is their 8track machine selection, but if you're already just using your IPod, you're probably just a fattie who doesn't want to work for their music. A real man/geezer carries around a 50lb turntable and 30 LPs around to rock in the park. Why do you think the later generations have gotten so fucking fat?
