I saw tremendous results, body changes and health improvements just in a few months!
The work-outs are intense, efficient, short and never boring! They will push you to the max in just a few minutes no matter what your fitness level is.
Warm-up and stretch 15-20 minutes.
Workouts can be from 5-45 minutes.
Don't forget to stretch before you leave!
Every day is different. They write the Workout Of the Day (WOD) every morning on the board, and go over instruction with each group.
Flat cross-trainer shoes are a must. You will need to wear a pair or they will make you work-out barefoot!
If you never worked out at Crossfit before, you'll be required to take 12 beginners training sessions during which you will learn all the basics: correct forms, about Paleo diet, types of exercises, etc. And the trainers will establish your level of fitness, so you can have a proper load during the actual work-outs. All work-out results are recorded and you can see your own improvements if you keep the journal.
Paleo diet is encouraged very strongly and it goes very well with training. I have been on Paleo diet since day one and loving it! And yes, I drink Norwegian Cod liver oil every day as prescribed by Rick :-)
I am in my late 30s and have been suffering from the chronicle back pain from the spine injury in the past 3 years. When I came to Crossfit I couldn't lift more then 15-20lbs, had weak core and musculus from not being able to exercise for such a long time due to the back pain.
Coach Rick and Melissa are wonderful, friendly, competent and pleasure to workout with. They helped me to gain confidence in my own body. Coaches teach correct form for each exercise and let you know how to improve. I have been getting stronger since.
The bottom line is: I am stronger, my body is transforming and toning, I forgot what the back pain is, have more energy, feel accomplished and so far lost 2 dress sizes. Nothing to complain about!
Crossfit training is not just a gym, or a trainer, or timed work-outs, or a weight-lose program or a diet. Crossfit is a healthy lifestyle! -

Let me start off by saying that I've been going to 24 Hr. Fitness for almost a decade now. I also have completed the P90X challenge which was indeed a very challenging workout. For almost a year I swore by Tony Horton and his P90X workout. Well, when I heard that Crossfit had 15 minute workouts sometimes 30 minute workouts, I literally asked myself "how and the hell can you get a good workout in that amount of time"? On day one, my trail workout, I had a 7 minute workout and let me tell you that when I was done I felt like puking. I felt out of breath and remember asking myself, " what the hell did I get myself into"? And to think that was just a trail workout.
I love it there! I can't see myself working out anywhere else. The coaches there are awesome and are always on your ass and keep you pumped. Its like having your own personal trainer everyday you workout. Its awesome and if you haven't tried it yet, do so! -

This place rocks! In three months my knee strength has improved to allow me to go back to running, my blood pressure dropped from 140/90 to 116/75, they started an endurance series and a program for kids.
What I really like about CFCV is they care about their clients. Rick is passionate about making sure your get the numbers you want out of the gym, not just getting numbers in the gym. Everyone there (coaches and clients) are motivated, energetic and excited to be there. It's the best combination of gym membership and personal training I have found - and the results speak for themselves. Just ask anyone who goes there.
Thanks Rick!! -

Coach Jorge Bejar @ Crossfit Chula Vista is the real deal, with 2 Muay Thai World Championships & a long list of Vale Tudo fighters under his belt he knows from experience what he teaches.
He's also a great fitness and cardio trainer, helping me drop weight so fast my friends did double takes.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I have been an athlete and competitor in mountain biking for about 7 years and have been working out in a gym since I was 19 (I'm 31 now). Inevitably, without coaching, I always slipped into a boring routine of training.
I came to CrossFit for the first time back in August and have been excited to go work out every day since then. I used to belong to one of those big-box gyms and then the YMCA where you get no personal attention and have to fight for a treadmill. At CFCV, every day is a new workout and I've learned everything from handstand push-ups to Olympic lifting techniques.
The coaches are awesome and give you tips, corrections, and motivation during your whole entire workout, every single day. Rick, Sal, and Melissa are a great team and really give our box (the term for a CF gym) heart.
If you want to take your fitness to levels you never dreamed....give CrossFit CV a try. You have nothing to lose but weakness. -

I co-own Results Physical Therapy and was looking for a place where I could get a short intense work out. I had never really worked out much before I began CrossFit, but they assured me that they would ease me into it. I, initially, chose CrossFit because of its location and length of workouts. It was an added bonus to get the nutrition counseling, which is part of the program, and personal coaching! I love that you don't have to think about what workout you want to do today, because it is already posted and you will have coaches walking you through it. It is better than having a personal trainer.
Here I am 15 month later still enjoying the WOD's (work out of the day), the people, the knowledgeable coaches, and my results!
I always look forward to going to the box (term used for the gym) and getting my butt kicked. I was a size 9 when I started and am down to a size 4. At 35 years old, I have never felt better about my health or self image. I love CrossFit Chula Vista and the wonderful staff who get me through the WOD's even on some of the toughest days! -

My wife has been here over a year now and I finally just started myself, my wife had to be dragged to the gym before she found this place, now she loves it. I was so sick of battling meathead body builders and full make-up treadmill walkers at 23-hour fitness. The coaches are great, dedicated people who care about clients. IMO-CFCV is the reason we love small businesses.

Crossfit Chula Vista drives you to get your workout to a whole new level. I just completed my first month which is a one-on-one session on the proper form of most of the movements. This may sound like a cake walk but just learning everything has left me exhausted but wanting more. Every day was different and I have noticed a drastic improvement in completing some of the exercises. My energy is up and I feel better about myself. The coaching provided by Rich and Nick on nutrition is something that is overlooked in most gyms. The environment is one of learning and doing your best. Give it a try...you will not regret it!
