seafood salad salad, like crackity-crack!  seriously a 9 out of 10 for pure freshness and huge chunks of sweet shrimp and krab. i'm a convert and am so glad i found you. try the turkey brie pear or the crosby special or hot damn, try them all.

...for a sandwich that left me curiously wanting more. I ordered a very simple sandwich that contained goat cheese, cucumbers, vinaigrette, and red onions. However, it took longer to make than meaty sandwiches ordered by people after me! I was quite frustrated, and annoyed at what seemed to be a lack of organization (the man taking the orders kept on repeating them back to people, only to be met with, "No, I ordered the (blank)." When I sat down on a bench to eat, I was glad that the sandwich was large, but still not wowed enough to completely forgive service.

I finally made my way to Crosby Connection for lunch this week. I had walked past it for years and heard many good things but never tried their heralded meatball hero. I am happy to report it lived up to the hype! The meatballs and sauce were good but the addition of really fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheese to the hero took it to the next level and separated it from pack. The entire menu of heroes looked great and it is one of those places only found in a bustling city. The kitchen and storefront is the size of a large closet, so takeout is how it works here. I was done with half my sandwich by the time I walked back to work! I will return for sure, this has cravings written all over it.

I hate this place so much!  I walk by it almost every weekend when I am raking my brain for something tasty and crosby looks like its been closed for 10 years.  I then shake my head and drink beers and play Photo Hunt at Bleecker St bar.
Admittedly I have only had a Crosby sandwich once and it was awesome.  Bread was real good.  All the ingrediants were fresh and the meat was superb.  By far the best sandwich I have had since moving to NYC.
Why have I only been once?  Because its closed on weekends and that really sucks.  I am not some hipster who just hangs out downtown buying $300 jeans at Atrium on a wednesday.  (where does their money and copious amounts of free time come from?) I am a lame midtown west corporate drone.  That makes Crosby Connection pretty inaccessible to me because I cant make it from 11-4 M-Fri.  And that makes me sad. and hungry.

When I lived in London I swore by Pret. When I arrived in New York I swore off Pret because there were so many here. I wasn't necessarily in search of the perfect sandwich. I just wanted it to find me. I happened to read up on Crosby Connection while wasting time on Yelp and a light bulb went off that said I should try it out. I let my roommate know that we would be going here on her lunch one day last week and I had no clue what I was looking for but I did know that Yosh raved about it at Bondi Road Brunch so it must be worth trying out.

It is!

Fresh ingredients and a friendly man in the front who takes your order from the dry erase board menu and hands it back to the hole in the wall. I am a fan. You wait a while. There's love put into every sandwich. We chatted while we waited (go with a friend or make the acquaintance of someone in line.) And I got nicknamed giggles when my order was up. We walked down to the park on Mulberry and dug in. It was really really good. And I couldn't wait to go back. So I did go back today. And I've decided to adopt the Avocado, Brie, Dill as my sandwich of choice because all those ingredients with fresh mozz and a sprinkle of balsamic equals one thing. Perfection. Totally Shampoo Worthy!

YOU PEOPLE ARE CLAZY!  Nearly 5 stars?  Really?

Crosby Connection is around the corner from my work.  After hearing many good things about it, i finally tried it out today.  I was incredibly disappointed.

The fact that its a hole-in-the-wall sandwich shoppe, staffed by 2 or 3 real new yawkah types, is pretty endearing.  It feels very new-york.  The menu is on a dry erase board and everything sounds pretty tasty.  Italian-type sandwiches-- pesto, mozzerella, proscuitto, things like that.  I decided on the chicken pesto cause it was raining and i kinda wanted something warm (menu said it would be warm).   I order and run back to my office.

The sandwich consists of a piece of italian bread smeared with enough pesto, warmed up (though pale) chicken,  fresh mozzerella and sun dried tomatoes.  If you look on the menu, this sandwich is missing a few things-- red onions, cilantro (two of the main reasons i ordered it in the first place) fresh basil, olive oil and balsalmic.   The pesto seems decent quality and the mozzerella is pretty good but the chicken is a disappointment.  The menu says its grilled but its definitely not. Its definitely microwaved, but it wasnt even grilled previously, before it was nuked.  Also, not that hot.  Not hot at all.  Barely warm.  The bread is also disappointing, as i'd heard the bread here is good and we all know a foundation for a delicious sandwich is the bread.  Its soft and chewy but kinda too doughy for my taste (i ended up ripping 3/4 of it away). There appears to be a crust but you'd never know from biting into it.  I'm hating this bread.

The flavors are pretty bland and unexciting and the texture was worse (without the fresh red onions or cilantro my sandwichs' texture consisted of too chewy bread with luke warm chicken and soft cheese).

The sandwich was $6 which isn't a bad price, but still too much for a kind of mediocre sandwich.

If it weren't for the vibe of this place, i'd drop it down to 2 stars.  The guys that work there are super nice and fun to watch and it feels really neighborhood-y which i like.

Someone at a bar told me about this place (when I told her I worked in the NoHo area) and mentioned that this is a must visit.  Well, I'm proud to say that she wasn't wrong.  Great sandwiches that fill you up.  I've only been here once or twice but everytime, I'm stuck on trying to make a decision because everything sounds delicious.  I highly recommend (since it's summer) to get a sandwich, grab a drink, and go to Washington Square Park for a nice lunch.

Delicious, fresh, inexpensive sandwiches. This no-frills fidge-sized hole-in-the-wall takeout shop serves great lunch eats! the people are friendly, casual, funny, and generous with the sandwich fillings - the only downside is that they're not open on the weekends!!

Its all about timing.  Gotta get here during the brief time this closet-sized sandwich place is open on the weekdays: you don't want to wait around too early with all the other schmoes getting their sandwich fix, but if you wait too late, some of the fresh ingredients they picked up to make their delicious fresh sandwiches and soups may be gone.  The staff is friendly and conversational, and always ready to ease the pain of waiting for a scrumptious bite with a sample of fresh mozzeralla or a cup of of fresh squeezed juice.  Definitely a unique place in a city of amazing options.

Still the best Value, but...

I've been getting from them for the past four years, most of it a a student. It's still the best value AND the best sandwiches you can get in the city EXCEPT the quality has gone down since Susie stopped working there and making the sandwiches. Now they are a little smaller, a little less generous in how they are assembled. Also, the "honey mustard" is disgusting, and I don't think it even resembles mustard. Insist on the deli mustard (which they now seem to frequently be out of.) It's still well worth your money and time, though. You can't beat the Crosby Connection.

do you like fresh food?
do you like friendly people?
do you like good taste?
do you like to be treated as a friend, not a customer?

if so, the crosby connection is the place for you.  i cannot speak highly enough of this noho sandwich shop on the dead end block of crosby street.

i had the pleasure of going to the crosby connection for lunch today, and i can say with 100% certainty that i will be back.  all of the items on their menu look delicious, but i instead went on the recommendation of the owner/king sandwich maker and got a sandwich with goat cheese, turkey, lettuce, onion, sweet peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette on a wheat baguette.  the first thing that struck me was the bread: soft and chewy, yet firm enough to hold the sandwich together.  then came the taste...all of the ingredients went perfectly together.  the goat cheese was soft and sweet, the vinaigrette spot-on, and the rest fo the veggies were crisp and light.

the crosby connection is what a lunch spot should be.  good food fast with a little TLC thrown in for good measure.

My first time to the Crosby Connection was just earlier this week and since then, I've already been there twice! This is a must-visit lunch spot if you work in the noho area.

CC appears to be the kind of lemonade stand that you used to have as a kid. Even though there's a bunch of scaffolding interference at the site right now, you will find it by spotting a tablecloth covered table with a bunch of teas/lemonades in Rubbermaid containers on top. However, don't be turned off by that, when you order their homemade lemonade, they pour it in a cup with ice and will add a piece of fresh mint to it. How ghetto gourmet is that??

On to their sandwiches. Like Steve C. said, their ingredients are indeed top shelf. Yesterday I tried their avocado brie sandwich and what came out was: avocado, brie, sweet roasted peppers, sundried tomatoes, fresh rosemary, and chopped PEAR on a delish rye roll. Folks, this fancy sandwich was 5, whopping, dollars. The day before I had their prosciutto and parmesean sandwich. You are also free to add/substitute anything and they will make it as you like it.

Although sometimes it takes awhile for them to make your sandwich and they might even forget you....it's honestly worth the wait.

Generous portions, delicious and fresh ingredients, and super low prices. On top of that, a dynamic, old-skool, funny, generous, and uber friendly owner! My friend and I only had a couple hours left before we had to leave for JFK, and we were in the neighborhood. We stopped by and the place is only as big as 2 telephone booths. This jovial and portly man in a tank top gives us a huge hello. He begins a friendly banter, telling us about his recent travels, and generously gives us free bottles of water. We order a few sandwiches and he works quickly to make them, while chatting with us and greeting other locals. He seems to know everyone in the neighborhood! Definitely a local's spot, and I felt lucky to have found it. The food itself is great! Really awesome bread, with tons of mozzarella cheese and other fresh ingredients... each for $6! It's super close to the subway, and if I lived in NYC, it'd definitely be a favorite lunch destination of mine.

Joey Cramarossa's is the one-man band behind this take-out sandwich shop housed in a former broom closet. He makes any sandwich to order  for less than $6  piling on more meat, cheese or garnish upon request, at no extra charge. For Cramarossa, huge portions, cheap prices and top-shelf ingredients (bread from Parisi and Pane Antiqua bakeries, fresh fruits and vegetables from Chinatown) are the name of the game. And the jokes come free.
