Why do I shop here? I guess I love to be ignored. Last time I stopped in the ignoring was so blatant that even my boyfriend noticed it. So I'm not a tiny little size 4, I was still wearing Chie Mihara shoes and carrying a Rebecca Minkoff purse -it is not like I look poor or homeless. And come on, snotty  salesgirls, I may be fat but I can shoe shop since that is a big part of what Crimson Mim is all about. Except when they won't let you shop. I feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. *sniffle*

If I won the lottery I would shop here all the time. Regardless of my tight budget I've found a way to make some fabulous purchases at this shop. (Maybe its because eating isn't always a priority).  This tiny store in Los Altos is packed with unique designers - Philip Lim, Trina Turk, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent are a few of my favorites.  Don't let the small size of the store fool you though, it takes a lot of time to go through everything - fun for shopaholics - torture for those who aren't.  At the end of each season the shop runs a fabulous sale.  There's always a great selection of styles, designers and sizes available - it's a good time to go crazy and not feel too guilty.  They also have trunk shows for featured designers, which is fun for catching a glimpse of the upcoming line and hard to find items.  Oh and yes - the staff is great - Cece loves helping you put together outfits and the owner Christina is very personable and will remember your name.

SOOOOO SMALL! I know space in Los Altos is expensive, but that shouldn't be all I can think about when I'm in a store.

Crimson Mim is small. Now that we have that out of the way... their sales associates are LAME. Like the real definition of lame.. cannot move/lethargic/doesn't know what's going on.

They didn't lift a finger while we were in there on a Thursday afternoon... not a soul was there either.  I think I know why.

If you can't utter a useful word or two to Los Altos clientele that are most likely more than willing to drop the average person's paycheck... I'm over it.

Great shoes that you won't find elsewhere in the South Bay, really nice clothes and a small, but cool selection of unusual, handmade jewelry.  I bought a necklace there about 18 months ago and am still wearing it all the time.  In contrast to some of the other reviewers, I found the staff to be very friendly, and even while I was pushing my 6mo daughter in a stroller.

For me it's more of a place to go for the occasional indulgence.  I'm just not this hip every day.

Looking to drop some coin? Has the hubbo left you for the weekend with the kids to attend a bachelor party in Cabo? Head on over to Crimson Mim for a fun shopping experience.

An upscale boutique masquerading as a bohemian vintage store, Crimson Mim hits the right note for this areas need for style, comfort and something that is not at the mall.

labels for shoes like Cynthia Rowley, Bettye Mueller, Cynthia Vincent, Anyi Lu you will find some cool offbeat kickers that also scream style and sex appeal. (Hubbo will wish in more ways than one that he had stayed home from Vegas.) Pick up some threads by such venerable labels like Velvet, Trina Turk, and Catherine Malandrino. This is a place to indulge, not buy your basics.

Sale in progress including items by 3.1 Phillip Lim. Need I say more?
They also have some great pre-fall Phillip Lim clothes that you should check out!

I noticed the taupe collar blouse that I recently purchased online from Scoop NYC but hadn't received yet. I wasn't sure if I had ordered the right size so I tried it on at the store. Turns out I did and the top is super cute. I really wanted to get it right then and there...Thanks to the manager Maria for being so sweet and letting me use her computer to try and cancel my order online and phone to call customer service. After all that, I couldn't get in touch with anyone at Scoop NYC so I guess I'll just have to wait patiently for my package.

Anyways Crimson Mim carries really cute clothes and the service is awesome!

I was so happy to finally have a great place to shop for high end, fashion forward clothes and shoes in downtown Los Altos that I smile every time I drive down Main St. I just love CM.  The pluses are the eclectic selection of cute stuff that you won't see at NM or Nordstrom, the really friendly and helpful staff, and have I mentioned that they are in downtown Los Altos, formerly a fashion wasteland.  The minuses are the small, dark dressing rooms, and the fact that the store is just not that big although they carry a lot of merchandise, making for a bit of a frustrating shopping experience (hard to see what that seemingly darling top looks like when you can hardly pull it off the rack because it is so full).  My one wish is that 2007 is the year that CM moves to a bigger (Los Altos) location.

I decided to peek in Crimson Mim one day after a friend recommended it to me and I was not disapointed!  They have a gorgeous selection of shoes, clothes, and jewelry - all of it hand selected.  The selection of clothing is small (they are predominently a shoe boutique) but absolutely TDF!  I was able to browse and try on clothes while one of the sales gals entertained my boys (two thumbs up for customer service!).  I left with a few tops, two happy boys, and my sanity intact (anyone who has shopped with kids knows what I mean!).  I'll be back!

This store has a great selection of clothing, shoes and accessories.  The staff is so helpful and friendly, but at times I do feel like they are "selling."  I would have loved to buy a ton from here, but most of their stuff is pretty high end and well, I'm just not there yet!  If you browse blaec.com, you'll love coming here and seeing the clothes in person.

(Note: After seeing some of the clothes in person, I'm really glad I didn't break down and buy it online.  However there are times where it's just as amazing as what you see on the web)

This is definitely a shop that I would stop into when I want something for a special occasion, as I just can't afford to shop here regularly.

Terrible customer service.

I bought a pair of patent leather boots and a cashmere coat, which I thought were cute.  The boots turned out to be the wrong size, which I discovered after trying to wear them for more than twenty minutes, so i took them back the next day.  i asked to exchange them, and even though I was standing right at the checkout, the lady with my shoes managed to walk past me with my shoes, set them down somewhere in the store, and engage another customer while I was waiting for my shoes.

The return policy is nothing short of piracy.  I have eczema and realized that the cashmere coat I had purchased was not a normal blend, it was something called "recycled cashmere".  I had no idea what that meant, but when I tried to wear the coat, I broke out into a horrible rash all over my torso, arms, and neck.  I immediately went back to the store to attempt to return the item, but was told that I could only have store credit.  I looked through everything in the store, but nothing seemed appealing.  I explained why I was returning the coat, and that i was not local to the area, so would have no chance to use store credit in the future, and I offered to pay up to 25% of the coat's cost (~$600) as a restocking fee.  I was turned down on all counts, and the best the sales rep could do was tell me that sometime in the unclear future, they were working on setting up an online site.  I left with the coat (after tracking down my misplaced boots) with a bitter taste in my mouth; next time I want forward fashion boutique clothing, I will visit Anniki (up the street) or stick with San Francisco.
