Dropped by this place through a friend to watch the Packer/Giants game.
The place is cute with little bits of memorabilia strewn all around the walls.

First and foremost; EXCELLENT beer selection.
Had Delirium Tremens, followed by a Duvel beer which had a special. Buy two bottles and you get a free glass. Jumped on that like a fat kid with cake.

Ordered their Vegetarian Revenge Wrap which was SUPER good. I usually am a bit skeptical with any faux meat substitute but the black bean patty was absolutely flavorful. You wouldn't have thought there was no meat inside. Tasted hints of cumin and spice which reminded me a bit of chorizo. The patty was perfectly cooked, moist and crunchy to give it a nice texture. The sauce was good too and not too soggy.

Had my wrap with a salad and a side order of tater tots which are super addicting. They have several flavors such has garlic, plain or cajun. I had the cajun which wasn't spicy at all, more smokey if that.

My server ( Dave!)[yes his nametag had an exclamation point] was phenomenal. Our party kept growing from 4 to 10 in the span of an hour during the game and he was super accommodating and thoughtful to offer his table. Kept refilling out drinks and kept us satisfied.

    Great bar!

$1 Taco Tuesdays might now be $1.79 Taco Tuesdays, if our receipt is any guide (either that or we got there after the expiration of the deal).

Our server was extremely nice and helpful.

Our table had "Pepperoni Pizza Fries" as an appetizer, which probably does require your knife and fork but was interesting and tasty.

I had a very good Crispy Chicken sandwich with a spicy and tangy "Sassy" sauce. My friend's Popcorn Chicken bites with a "Southern sauce" were light and crisp, with a blue cheese side dressing.

They have Delirium on tap here! And also a seasonal Great Lakes, which will keep me coming back here.

I would argue the noise level was high, but there was a Michigan game on. We were also in a corner so it could have been more noisy there.

I would have thought maybe they could have one screen on news on a big politics night like this, but I understand this is a sports bar.

For a Tuesday for a gay bar in the middle of uptown on a freezing day, this was a packed bar. I wonder how much of that was that Fat Cat was closed for a holiday party (WT%?) today, our original destination. Crew ended up being a good substitute tonight.

    Crowd was about 90% gay.

Have made this my unofficial pre-game spot for concerts at the Aragon.  Prices and beer selection are pretty decent.

Have had the burger and grilled chicken sandwhich on separate occasions, although nothing to write home about, they were tasty and enough to fill your stomach before paying exorbitant beer prices at the Aragon... which reminds me, I should probably go review them next...

I was blown away (no pun intended) by this sports bar. I actually thought I had walked into a straight sports bar until they started playing Madonna at some point. They seem to have some great drink specials. We had pitchers of Bud Lite for $10.

I loved the vibe of this place. It was so lively with all the games playing on the screen for Sunday Night Football. I ordered a black bean sandwich. It was also pretty tasty. If I wanted to watch a good sports game while enjoying the company of some gay men, this would be the place to do it.

One thing I thought that was neat was the ceiling fans. Two blades rotate one way while the other 2 blades rotated the other way.

I tagged along with a friend to Crew in an effort to escape a week long conference and was glad for the escape! I can't remember what night of the week we were there but it was mojito night and I made the most of it. Because I consider myself a petite li'l thang, I need something to soak up all that good rum and proceeded to inhale some of the finest bar food I have ever had the pleasure of inhaling. The shrimp po' boy wrap with fries is a must!

So I came here because it was supposed to be a "gay sports bar."  I guess they think because they put some jerseys in a case it qualifies them.

    Staff:  RUDE
The bartender ignored me for awhile, then came up, raised an eyebrow.  That was his way of asking what I wanted.  I ordered their double bloody mary.  "Spicy?" he asks.  Believe it or not but that will be the single word he says for the duration of my stay!!  No other conversation, no thanks, nada.  He will spend most of his time in the corner playing with cupcakes and hugging and kissing a guy on the other side of the bar (and not washing his hands).

    DRINKS:
The double bloody mary was a joke.  Very weak and certainly not a double.  The only thing double about it was the double amount of ice and larger cup.

    The CROWD:
I am supposedly in a sports bar and the first thing I hear one guy say to another guy is: "hey girl!"  That told me it would be a one drink visit.

    FOOD:
I did not order any but looked at the menu and seems way over priced for bar food.  Be warned.

    SPORTS BAR:
So they advertise 20 TVs but less than 1/2 were playing sports, making sure Lady GaGa videos are on the majority (this is a Sunday Afternoon with plenty of Sports on).  Another patron asks when the Cubs game starts and NO ONE working @ Crew knew.  Really?  Clue-less staff about sports.

Overall it would score well as a typical Chicago gay bar, but the fact that they are not what they advertise and just plain clue-less and rude their the gay, sports minded clients, I will give this one a pass.

Oh Crew, I love you! Its probably the only bar you'll see me at that I don't have a chance of getting lucky.

My first experience with gay bars was Boystown and I honestly didn't even want to give Crew a chance after that. However, my best friend is gay and Crew is right by me so I decided to give it a shot. And oh am I happy that I did.

Got extremely sloshed for a reasonable price, had good conversation with the bartender, and when Crew closes there's a jazz bar next door opened until 5am.

Their mojitos are delicious and there's this shot of wormwood liquor that basically has a mild feeling of being on acid. I guess only one in 49 men can stomach it. Well this girl did it!

Its a great neighborhood spot, a laid back gay bar minus all the bitchiness of boystown, and the patrons and staff here are friendly and will actually party with you!

Let's just say I showed up to work an hour late the next morning...

How I wish we had a bar like this in Dallas.  Sure, the idea of a gay sports bar may sound a little odd to some, but there are gay sports fans out there (me, for one).... and the "Sports and Video Bar" here in Dallas is missing a few things that make Crew tops, and actually make me wish I could move back to Chicago.  Yes, seriously.

    1.  An excellent beer selection - between taps and bottles/cans there are at least 60.

    2.  A knowledgeable staff.  Paul, the bartender I had both times I visited, not only knew the beers he had, but could describe them and direct me to something I liked, without fail.

    3.  The food.  Now, to be fair, as per my usual, I didn't eat here... LOL... but what came out for others LOOKED good, and was well presented.

Also, the bathroom is immaculate.  I mean IMMACULATE.

The only thing was - it wasn't very busy, even on a Saturday night.  Now admittedly, this was during Market Days, but... I'd hate to see it go down like its neighbor the Wilde Pug did.  They are/were both excellent bars well off the Halsted strip.

Where does a straight girl find a gay bff who doesn't mind watching a little football?  Crew!

This place attracts sports fans both gay and straight.  They have everything I need for a lazy Sunday afternoon...

    Friendly staff?  Check!  (Thanks, Dave)
    Good food?  Check!
    Good beer selection?  Check!

For my first visit, I ordered the mini burgers.  The burger patties were juicy and delicious, the bread was soft and fresh.  I loved it so much that I almost stopped our server Dave to tell him that I liked their Buns!!!  At this place, it might have been misunderstood, so I refrained and offered a smile instead.  :)

I will definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu and perhaps catch a little football.

Crew is one of those places where it's only really worth it if you go at the right time. The food and drinks are good, but not spectacular by any standard. Everyday they have a special of some sort going on. Personally, I'm a big fan of the 3.50 Blue Moon special on wednesdays. Also, Bloody Mary's on Sunday? Yes please!

They also have some pretty good black bean and cheese nachos.

Went for brunch this Sunday with my friend after seeing the $12.50 mimosa pitchers on the website. WIN!

The inside was packed due to the women's world cup, Cubs, and Sox games, but the patio was deserted, probably due in part to the heat. I snagged table with an umbrella and just asked for extra water. It was Sunday Funday perfection.

My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and she thought it was delicious! I had a scramble and it was the perfect amount of food. Two eggs scrambled with cheddar and jalepenos, tater tots, bacon, and wheat toast.

And to top it off, we had THREE mimosa pitchers. Our server Joey was awesome and very nice. He made sure we had fresh ice cold waters to beat the heat. We didn't need to ask for anything as he seemed to anticipate our needs, even though it was crazy busy!

I will absolutely be going back to Crew!

P.S. They have an old school Ms. Pac Man arcade game! How fun!

First time I entered Crew was many many years ago with a few couples going to see a show at the Riv. I was like cool a sports bar and some comfort food, this is right up my alley! Our waiter was extremely flamboyant and after he left my group was asking me if he is gay (like I'm the expert on who is or isn't and just because you have gay friends doesn't mean you're connected or something. Penis to Penis communication or whatever. Close minded group). Of course I say a little too loudly that he is soooo gay. Then from the other side of the bar I hear "We're all GAY in here honey" followed by dirty looks from everyone in the bar as if I was anti-gay or something. Thanks to my close minded "friends" I kept my head down the rest of the meal.

Second time I was here we a bunch of people and there was either a show going on or the place was getting crazy. There were half naked boys dancing on the bar. I stroll up to the bar thinking nothing of it and went to order a drink. I accidentally found myself staring at this man's crotch, I do remember my first thought was "is that guy stuffing?!" then my brain must have wondered off into deep thought but I guess I was there for waaaaay too long staring at his Penis (or sock?!) before I snapped out if it. Of course my friend asked "Nick?! Are you staring at his junk as they all laughed?!". I left that night with my head hanging low thinking "I'm a bad heterosexual".

I actually recommend going to Crew a lot before shows at the Riv or Aragon. Fat Cat has become way too packed. To be honest the crowd at Crew is a lot more friendlier too. Drinks and food are fairly priced and you can almost always get a seat.

I'm not a huge sports fan so sports bars are not usually my cup of tea.  However, some pals and I needed a spot to meet up before a show at the Riv and Crew fit the bill.

I had a pretty stellar Cesar salad and a big-ass martini (as they call 'em) that was really good.  In fact, I've been thinking about that salad ever since.

If I was a sports fan I would spend a bit more time at Crew, as it stands I will keep it on the list for pre-Riv spots.

Good service with a decent atmosphere. I've tried their food a few times and have only gotten sick like twice... kidding. It's good :) They have great weekly specials and Crew is truly a local gay bar, semi-packed with friendly faces and not-so friendly queens... oh well.

A gay sports bar. Yes... they're springing up in every major city now, but Crew was one of the first, and for me one of the best. Not only do they have a great selection of bad-for-you bar food (friend pickles, bitttchhhesssss!), but they show almost every game/match/fight on their many television screens. They don't (yet) make use of cutting-edge technology from a high-definition standpoint, but they do have the audio up for every playoff game (and all Bears games).

And seriously, can you say you've lived if you've never been at Crew when the Bears score a touchdown and a group of 100 gay men launch into four-part harmony when singing "Bear Down, Chicago Bears?" Brings a tear to the eye...

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat before seeing a show at the Riv and after walking around aimlessly for a half hour happened to stop in front of Crew. A guy standing outside suggested we eat here. "I would know," says he, "I work as a cook here." Good enough for me.

He turned out to be right: my turkey club was DELICIOUS, and it was a generous portion too. They also have a good beer selection and overall it turned out to be good value for money. I didn't realized it was a gay bar until my girlfriend pointed out the lopsided ratio, which was kind of funny. I will probably come back next time I see a show at the Riv.

The Crew is always a great place to meet your friends and watch your favorite Sports team on the tele.  I always come here with my friends after our monthly Dim Sum just a block away, and It's only walking distance from Vietnamese Town.   The food and drinks are always good and very reasonable, and the place is always clean and has a very friendly wait staff.... I know some of the waiters their by name.

It's always great fun going there.  Just this past Sunday, my friend dressed up as Captain Gay in his Mask, Cape and underwear leotard, very funny until one of the waiter dared him to run around the block in the getup.  Very funny, see the pic I posted...

We always get their Beergarita Pitcher and is always priced right at $12.00.  It taste as good as a Margarita but feeds an army of alcoholics.  Also, street parking is very easy on Sunday afternoons.

The best way to watch a football game? In a bar with beer. Lots of beer.

The best way to watch a presidential debate? In Crew with friends and martinis. Gay and straight friends and lots of raspberry lemonade martinis.

The best way to watch the season finale of Project Runway? In Crew. With garlic fries covered in cheddar, scallions, bacon and a side of ranch sauce. And sliders with grilled onions and fresh tomatoes/lettuce...to soak up all the alcohol consumed during the debate drinking game.

"reformer" is the new "maverick", and mentioning earmarks, ayers and meeting without preconditions...all drink-worthy things because I'm just so tired of hearing them.

Crew played the debate live at 8 and then ran the replay of PR at 10, and had voting in until 8:45 PM for the winner. If you picked the correct designer, you got a complimentary drink. (I had a vodka gimlet for picking Leanne...) I don't think there's a better policy than that!

The first time I came to Crew, shortly after they opened, my reaction was, "This place is kind of pricey." Not what you'd expect from a gay sports bar. Though it's hard to say what you would expect from a gay sports bar.

On a recent visit, it seemed less pricey, but that could be because Blue Moon was on special for $3.50. My specialty martini (Pairs Skating = pear martini = too sweet and unctuous), on the other hand, was 10 bucks. Ouch! Double ouch because although beer prices were listed on the menu, martini prices were not.

Food is better than your average bar food, unless you're in this neighborhood. Fat Cat, T's, and Tweet serve a similar crowd, and all serve food as good as Crew. Service is dicey. It can be slow -- actually, I've never known it not to be slow -- and quite frankly, the cuter you are, the better service you get. This is the dirty secret of too many gay establishments, and as a big 'mo, I can call them out on it.

Perhaps the oddest thing about Crew is that it houses a collection of the most humorless queers in the city. Perhaps it's because this is a sports bar, and thus caters to a different breed of queer than I am used to. And granted, I am an acquired taste. But everything I have said to anyone here -- patron or staff -- has been greeted with a blank stare or barely disguised disgust. As a result, I never come here alone. Your experience, of course, may differ.

We came here after a show at the Aragon because Fat Cat was too  jam-packed. From now on, I'll probably just suggest Crew to be our first destination for pre or post-show drinks, camaraderie, and bar food.

Crew is a modestly-decorated, yet stylish sports bar with great service, plenty of TV's and  a good jukebox. I was really impressed with the attentiveness and politeness of the servers. We were kind of a bigger group jammed in by the pool table and kind of in the way of the servers bringing out dishes periodically. They never once copped attitude, huffed, or asked us to keep out of their way.

Since we were there late, I perused the Late Night Menu which included what I was told was a huge plate of Nachos. I didn't have the appetite last night for a Fourth Meal, but I will definitely be back for them! Who's up for a visit?!?

My friends and I ended up here randomly last night after getting to Green Mill too late to get in.  I am happy it worked out that way because we had a GREAT time hanging out, watching whatever insanely funny channel they had on their tvs (some odd mix of the best of the 80s-early 90's music videos, random SNL clips, and other fun stuff).  We picked up on it being a gay bar after a little while, but as other reviewers have noted, you don't really expect the sports bar/ gay bar mix! But once I saw the bartenders T-Shirt (a tight little shirt that said "I Love Tightends" kind of made things click :) hey I agree but I think he and I would mean that phrase in different ways!)

We had no trouble getting a table since there were no sporting events going on and it was around 10:30 on an extremely icy Saturday night.  We had thought about trying to go back over to Green Mill but were then seduced by some yummy cheese fries (I'll admit not my favorite kind of cheese, but still pretty tasty!).  We ended up being kind of sad to leave when it was shutting down- the whole atmosphere , especially the music, really just worked for a group of 20-something girls!

Not something I would go this far out of my way for in general, but if you are in the area, check it out! Of course I will always remember this place fondly as being part of the evening we got a ride home in a police car.... ;) (ok that story is not in any way juicy, just funny)

The worst possible service EVER yesterday!  EVER!  The twink manager seemed much more interested in talking to his gaggle of girlfriends at the end of the bar and the bartender than doing any work or making patrons happy.  I have no idea whose idea it was to hire him, but it is like they found a lonely barback in the backroom of Roscoe's who had no clue on either sports or service and promoted him to manager...

...Seriously, please do not call yourself a sports bar if you cannot change a channel to a Lakers - Cavs game because TWO HOURS IN THE FUTURE you are showing Project Runway...I literally was laughing...  what?!?!?!?!  LOL

The Northend, that is a gay sports bar.  Crew? A poseur of a sports bar...

Sports bar + Gay men= excellent way for a straight woman to enjoy a sports bar without any drunk douche bags hitting on you.  Excellent!

Seriously...gay or straight this place is pretty excellent.  I live around the corner and I think this bar made the neighborhood.  Lawrence and Broadway, before all the new bars and restaurants came in, was pretty desolate a couple years ago.   Of course the Green Mill has always been alive and well, but Crew offered this location some vibrancy!  In the summer the patio is always packed!  The bar itself is very nice....its the prettiest damn sports bar you ever did see.  The staff is very friendly and it always has a good crowd!

Where to go to watch the cubs game if you're in uptown and you wake up drunk at 12:00 noon? Crew. Nothing beats starting drinking bloody marys for brunch when you're still tipsy from the night before.

If the Cubs win they raffle off a $25.00 gift certificate to someone. I won, mostly because our server let us enter 5 times. Which I have to assume is not allowed. (For that reason I will not mention our servers name.  It rhymes with Moe, Foe, Doe)

REALLY strong Bloody Marys. How strong? Had trouble stumbling home after the game. I love day drinking.  Awesome staff, really cool other patrons. Get the Hobo platter.

Went to Crew last night for a beer.. and I never felt so discriminated towards.  Yes, I know I'm at a gay bar and I'm a female, but I still don't think I deserve waiting 20 minutes at the bar for a beer, while other guys were quickly served.  I swear one bartender passed by us 3 times before he pretended to look surprised as my bf and I were glaring at him for service!
Go to BIG CHICKS!!!!  They are sweet and nice no matter your sexual orientation!  Plus is signficantly cheaper!

Crew is great. Good food, good people. This is a great place to come for a wide range of sports events. It's nice that Chicago now offers several LGBT friendly sports bars (also check out the North End and Halsted Bar & Grill in Boystown). If you're living in Uptown, however, this is the place to go.

I stopped by last week with my partner for dinner. We were happy to see several screens with the olympics on.  We quickly remembered we were in a gay sports bar though when on a couple other screens there was a hilarious montage of olympics-related clips from musicals, old news and gag reels, and other oddities all put to crazy gay music. There was a bit of sensory overload happening, but it was still very fun.

I dunno....I've really wanted to like this place since it opened, and sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.  It really rates a 3.5 for me, it's just that there are gay bars in its vicinity (Big Chick's) I'd way rather go to, most days.  And I'm not a big fan of the 'gay sports bar' theme, but that's just me.

I guess it depends on a few things: the company I'm with (no fault of the bar), whether or not they have decent drink specials, their regular prices can be greedy-ish, at least for me, and maybe for the 'hood, or maybe I just don't get out much.  I guess eight dollar drinks or $4-5 shitty keg beers are the norm now.  Their food is thoroughly average bar fare, though they do have daily specials, so that's kinda nice.  I will admit, service (for me) has usually been decent or better, and friendly.  Overall, decent, but feels kinda corporate/generic, I wouldn't go out of the way.

This is a fun place to go and watch sports and have some food and drinks.  The service staff that I've had is always friendly and willing to get what you want in a timely fashion.  I really enjoy the fact that it's not like all the typical gay bars in boystown (then again it's not really in boystown).  It's not all about clubbing and hooking up though I'm sure there's plenty of that happening it's not as in your face about it.  Good atmosphere decent food, good service I go back with my friends that live up in the area on a somewhat regular basis and will continue to go when I'm up in the area.
The one down side I've found is that the dj's are a bit hit or miss, last night was just too much Madonna....  I know she's huge in the gay world but too much of a good thing isn't...

Crew is simply excellent.  I know of no more desirable place to watch a football game in the city; the bartenders are friendly (and flirty), the food is of excellent quality (though a little pricey),  and the beer list extensive.

The bar itself is laid out fairly well; big screen HDTVs above the bar and multiple more televisions scattered about; there's always one within your line-of-sight.  It does get quite busy on Sun. afternoons, especially when the Bears are playing, but the crowd is pleasant and friendly and won't steal your seat when you go to the restroom.  If you want a seat at the bar, though, be wise and show up early.

It is of course a gay bar and attracts a strongly gay clientele; so if you're put off by that, maybe one of the faux-Irish "pubs" in Lincoln Park might be a better fit for you.

Yes, it's a gay bar, but I as a straight man still love this place.

The food is great, the beer is good, and the atmosphere is always entertaining.  And, they've got awesome TVs and are always play whatever big sporting event is on - and then at halftime, play Scissor Sisters and Diana Ross music videos - what a combination!

It's a fun crowd and I always have a good time.  Just know when to avoid it - namely, don't come there past 11 on a Friday unless you're down with their weekly "Frat Boy Fridays" dancing/stripping contest!

Half Priced Wings...HELL YEAH...Every Monday!  I have been trying to get my friends to make this a regular event on our schedules.  It will happen...and what better way to start your weeks off than with Happy Hours and Wings right?

What even more...the wings are damn good...and you can order them seasoned your way - asian, BBQ, Buffalo...you name it.  Crispy and juicy...and decent sized.

Other favorites include: Mini burgers, Mini Pull Pork Sandwiches and club sandwich.  A friend of mine swears by their cobb salad and they give you a "healthy" portion on them salads!

Drinkwise...full bar.  They also have a good selection of martinis to satisfy those cravings!

Crew is also known as a sports bar.  Tons of flat screened TVs with the latest Chicago teams on.

Additionally, they have a pool table in the back and a dart board.  Pool table...plenty of room...Dart board...REALLY BAD location (there is a door right next to it that the servers need to access all the time...so it disrupts play ALOT!).

I always have a good time here. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming (everyone feels welcome here--gay, bi, straight, male, female, anything else) , and the waiters and bartenders are flirty. Lots of TV screens, but if you come late at night they're usually showing Scissor Sisters or Goldfrapp videos, or the E! channel. The crowd is diverse and attractive, and refreshingly free of the drunken idiots that populate most of Chicago's other sport-and-booze-a-toriums.

Especially fun after watching Mick Napier pour ketchup all over his head at the Annoyance Theater next door.
