We rolled 12 deep into this little dive bar for their $8 dollar steak dinners which includes a 6-8 ounce steak, garlic bread, salad and baked potato with a whopping load of butter and sourcream. the lady cook and the girl bartender are really nice down to earth people. beers are $3.50 a pop. apparently they're not use to getting high volumes of customers because 3 of my friends missed out on steak because they ran out of silverware!
one pool table, a jukebox 50 cents a play from alternative to country to pop to rap. its got like hundreds of different songs.
patrons are mostly white 30+ but everyones nice. Will recommend for a cheap chill place to hit up for a quick beer after a long days work.
P.S order the steaks one step lower than u normally want it, the lady tends to overcook it.
Ehhh...
After dinner at Mandarin Noodle Deli, my friends and I were indecisive of what there is to do on a late Sunday night. Hmm... let's yelp and see what's around the area.... Crest lounge? High ratings (4.5 stars) and just around the corner, all right let's go!
Straight up dive bar. The streets are dimly lit and it's kind of creepy. The interior on the other hand is brightly lit w/ a single pool table (75 cents a game and it doesn't work properly, the balls keep getting jammed so we would have to call for help every single game) and tiny booths that can fit 4 people max. If you come w/ an extra person you'll have to split up your party to fit two booths. The beer selection was blahh... The bartender is super sweet and friendly though. There's a jukebox but it was silent majority of the time while we were there.
I would not recommend this place to anyone in their twenties to hangout. Unless you're just here to eat and bounce. Majority of the people that come here are 40+. We encountered a woman who was going delirious about wearing no panties. O__O

OOOOHHHHHH The Crest Lounge, how I love thee....
I used to hang out at the Temrose and am known for bar hopping around SGV. Anyway, the Crest is such a DRAMA FREE - NO BULLSHIT bar (aside from Al's of course - they are ALWAYS at the TOP of my list) and the bar staff actually knows how to make a drink. I love the steak, I love the box and I like that fact there's a mix of people here. Not always the same faces (same faces in most cases = bar drama) and the blend of young and old people keep it lively.
Great place to go to start off a night out, to catch a game or to finish off with a night cap. :)
Ok, so the crest is a dive bar. BIG TIME Dive. I came on a Saturday night- it was pretty empty but that's cool. It's not as dim as you'd think after reading the reviews (think black angus dim) - i came for the $8 steak dinner which was literally cook at the end of the bar (it's pretty cool actually seeing it cooked). Our server (Emily) was nice and fun. She also cooked our steaks- and they were pretty good. The only thing I would do to improve the $8 dinner is NOT microwave the potatoes (how the hell does Wendy's do it- Crest please do it like that) and have a fresher bag of ready made salad. Other than that they have a new digital jukebox (heard Brit Brit twice), a pool table, a long bar, and red booths. My vodka tonic was $2.50 and my Steak/potato/salad was $8. Good Deal for a dinner. i'd come back. It's a cash only bar so bring your cash and tip Emily well- she's cool.
My friend called this place and found out this place opens at 5am and closes at 1:30am. My friend and I were hyped about the reviews about the 8 dollar steak dinner. We got there around 30 minutes after it opened and it was packed, I also noticed that this an older crowd hangout bar. We sat at a booth and was greeted by the waitress. Her and I have the same birthday and she was flirting with me about it. Saying how we're both Leos. We ordered our drinks and the steak dinner. When the steak dinner came, we were very disappointed. The steak dinner consisted of salad, a baked potato, and the steak itself. I remember reading that it came with garlic bread, but we didn't get that. The part that made us disappointed was the size of the steak. The steak was the size of our fist. The baked potato was bigger than the steak. I don't know how people said they would go back for the steak dinner. I'd probably just go back for the drinks and not the food.
The Crest is dee Best!!! So choice!!!
Don't let the location, the pre-ban smoked aroma, or the age of the regulars bother you. It is one of the last hold outs for authentic Temple Citians bar goers and booze hounds everywhere. Cheap strong drinks, pub grub apps, and the infamous $8 steak. I remember when it was $4.99! Pool table and juke box too boot.

I came here because my bf read some reviews and thought we should try it out. I was sold on the $8 steak dinner. Someone said something about seniors and twentysomethings..... there were 2 twentysomethings... us. The rest of the bar was 40+ yr olds and we were the only asians. We felt so out of place, but we sat in a booth anyway.
I liked the mood and love how there are no crazy drunk kids screaming in my ear or spilling drinks on me. It's very 40+ish casual.
The waitress was accomodating, although she did not stop by frequently to check on us. We did have a chance to ask for things we needed so we didn't mind that she didnt ask if everything was ok 5 times throughout the night. She also recommended a drink, which happened to be my fav, and yes it was pretty strong :) and did I mention cheap?
The $8 steak dinner was realyl good! As mentioned before, comes with salad (the baggie kind) which was slightly old, and a yummy baked potato. The portion is quite filling and the steak is as good as a $20something place.
I've been thinking about going back to this place mostly for the steak. I would go back for steak dinner and maybe some drinks (hehe it's a bar, yes) anytime.

This place is awesome. If only I lived closer.
The drinks here are cheap and good. Great Washington apple. The specialty of the house, and one of the reasons I love going to this place, the steack dinner.
For $8.00 you can't beat the steak dinner. They cook it right in front of you, well almost, the open range is at the end of the bar. The dinner comes with a salad (with your choice of dressing) and a baked potatoe (microwaved) that is simply awesome, and a garlic bread.
After drinking for a couple of hours, nothing tastes better then a steak dinner.
You gotta come here.

I've been once and the experience was enough to make me go back again and again! $8.00 steak and potato, and did I mention the drinks are cheap, and we didn't go at happy hour, wow!
Thanks for the review David T. right on the money with this one!

The Crest in TC is a place to hang out every now and then. They have an area so you can shoot some pool and play darts and people are always friendly inside. The food isn't the best but drinks are. If I do eat it will be their frozen corn dogs. The mood is always friendly.
A combination of both dive and class... food is cheap and good... drinks are strong. And it is quite knightly.

eh.. prices of the drinks and food are great, but the environment was okay.. i felt that the bartender lady and everyone else were a little uptight because they were saying how theres like cops that come in for underaged drinking.(and we were all old enough)... so she told us to not fool around. but how can you like have fun without having like fun conversations. we werent even fooling around that much. we were just enjoying ourselves. watching tv and being a little loud. not like we were trashing the place. this place is a little too quiet for me.. and if music plays. its so annoying when older men pick such girly songs.. eh.. id only come back for the food.. but i think id still prefer in n out and abc cafe haha
I just discovered this wonderful place in the neighborhood. The ultimate divey, bar with good ( steak dinner for a low price) food and strong, cheap drinks. Pool table in the corner.
$8 dollar steak dinner...cheap drinks...seniors, twenty somethings, thirty somethings and a mix of country and indie music on the juke box..A Great Baked Potato...nice chat with the owner Mike, what a nice and funny guy...in Temple City tho...

Went here on a Monday. There were about 6 people here, a group of three 20 somethings at a booth & playing darts and some seniors at the bar. Everything here is unbelievably low priced. Beers were around $3 for imports, my jack on the rocks was around $3.25, they were giving out freshly baked cookies. The bartender was very friendly and even let us know to come back on Sunday when the cook was off and he was going to cook pasta and garlic bread at home and bring it in to feed all the customers. I believe he does this on a regular basis on Sundays. They also have cheese burgers for $3.99 or steak for $7.99. They only take cash here, but you don't need much to spend here.
