Review from Amal R.
New York, NY
Crescent Ridge is one of those few childhood places that has withstood the test of time, and despite all the NYC ice cream greatness, this is still the best I've ever had!
The ice cream is extremely rich and creamy, while not being too sugary - overall a winning combination! You can thank the in-house dairy farm with their own cows for that. My favorite flavors are good old Oreo and the mocha chip, but they have a wide variety of flavors and toppings besides this. The only minor gripe is that it's pretty expensive but portions are huge! The "mini-kiddie" is two large scoops (personal tip: ask for your kiddie in a larger cup or it will be all over your hands). The sundaes are delicious, made with amazing in-house fudge, butterscotch and caramel (but canned whipped cream). God knows how I used to eat a large one of these in my fat kid days, as now I opt for the kiddie sundae. On the rare chance I'm not feeling ice cream, the milkshakes are also amazing and creamy, without being so thick as to require a spoon (a personal shake pet peeve).
Not much has changed over time, but there have been some additions like the ponies grazing out back and video menu boards replacing the old wooden ones. You can still get their ice cream and milk, in old school glass bottles, delivered to your doorstep by the milk man! Your ice cream is always served with a smile by the ever rotating local high schoolers who work here. If you want arguably the best ice cream of your life, drive the 15 min out of your way on the way to Boston to come here! -
Review from Chris C.
Awesome ice cream stand.
I liked the non traditional video boards as the menus instead of the chalkboards or wooden signs most places have.
The big highlight of this place was the ice cream sundae. It was definitely one of the best sundaes I have ever had. The girl even made a really cool cross hatch pattern with the hot fudge on the whip cream. It was probably the coolest looking sundae I've ever had and tasted as good as it looked. -
Review from Rachel R.
I've been coming to Crescent Ridge since I was a little kid and it's always been great ice cream. They give you huge portions and there are tons of flavors to choose from whether it be black raspberry or moose tracks.
On a warm summer day or night, it's perfect to sit outside and watch the cows in the field while your ice cream inevitably drips everywhere.
New additions can now be seen! There are miniature ponies and goats out back alongside the cows.
CR is great fun for all ages and groups! -
Review from Beck N.
The same awesome ice cream place I loved as a kid (& the first place I drove when I got my license)! Only now they have digitized boards, the ice cream is like twice the size (for twice the price).
I got a mint chip with jimmies & they are not messin' around when they put the jimmies on your ice cream. They load up the bottom of the cup before putting the ice cream in & they cover the top of your ice cream as well. Super awesome!
Next time, though, I'll order a kiddie size. Preggo or not, their portions are too big!Listed in: Places I Love

Well it is summer and that means ice cream...and that means Crescent Ridge. Ok so yeah they have more than ice cream and they are open more than just summer but really it is all about the ice cream.
Go there...get ice cream...enjoy...that is all! -

I want to like this place more than I do. I have been here several times and have tried different ice cream flavors. I've had the Moose Tracks, the Mississippi Mud and the Cookies & Cream.
It is great the the ice cream is home made. However, I feel that the flavor is overall just ok.
The portions are huge, but you pay for it, there are no deals being had here! The kiddie size works perfectly for me. I believe it is about $4.
I had a sundae here once and was extremely dissapointed. It was prepared terribly. It was drenched in sauce to the point where I couldn't taste anything else. Stay away from those...
So far, I have found that I am much more happy going to Coldstone's Creamery than to Crescent Ridge. -
Review from Bret C.
OMG. I finally found another awesome ice cream place.
If you're anywhere south of Boston, take a detour to Crescent Ridge. Huge portions of incredible ice cream. I tried a few flavors, but my favorite was the Black Bear.
Also, two thumbs up to the staff for being fully involved in social media and having a great web site and logo.
I seriously cannot wait to go back. -

Crescent Ridge has really tasty, high-quality, freshly made ice cream. The portions are huge (the "kiddie" is easily a scoop and a half or two scoops) but the prices are on the high side compared to places in the same area.
It's really good! -

If there is one thing you need to know about Crescent Ridge it is that Mini Kiddie means Large, Small means Extra Large, and Large means HOLY SHIT THAT'S BIG!
Aside from the crazy large helpings of ice cream, Crescent Ridge has always been good with making everything taste delicious and creamy from their vanilla all the way to specialties like moose tracks and orange pineapple(my favorite!!!!).
Any time you talk to people from Southeastern MA they will all sing the praises of Crescent Ridge because it is truly that good. Don't worry about waiting in line up to 45-60 minutes in the summer because the ice cream is well worth the wait. Try their frappes too, and don't skimp on the thickness, it makes it twice as nice! -

Fresh and authentic!! Summer or winter... come get your ice cream fix here. Many flavors... from rocky road and strawberry, to my favorite orange pineapple. I drive an hour just to get a cone!
For those of you who don't want to drive to Sharon, MA, Crescent Ridge delivers! -

Why??? I just don't get it! The ice cream was ordinary, icy (rather than smooth), and not especially flavorful.
The lines are INSANE! It would be quicker to drive from Sharon to Toscanini's in Cambridge (and the ice cream would be a million times better) than wait in Crescent Ridge's pokey lines. Their system does not seem to be designed for quick service. I suspect they like the lines because it looks like there is lots of demand for their ice cream.
I'd rather have a small amount of great ice cream than Crescent Ridge's giant but lame scoops. Plus, there's no way those few cows in the field next door make the milk for that ice cream. They didn't seem to have udders, which makes me suspicious. Talk about window dressing. For all those people who give Crescent Ridge ice cream 5 stars, what do they give ice cream like Toscanini's?? -

Some mighty fine homemade ice creams! They have quite an impressive list of flavors to offer and my partner even found her favorite: chocolate ice cream and peanut butter chunks. It's apparently rare to find, which sounds not appealing to me, but she's happy.
I would give it 5 stars but the benches outside are pretty gross and unclean and both times we've been we've gotten stomach aches.
It's also pretty darn expensive! Though you do get HUGE scoops. -

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ICE CREAM AROUND!
Crescent Ridge makes small-batch ice cream and is an excellent deal. This place is always busy in the summer, especially on their $2 sundae night when it was 20-people deep.
Highly recommend this place! It's the best around! -
Review from Jake M.
Those long lazy bucolic summer evenings of our suburban youth - the way the sunsets seemed to sink straight into the rolling fields, the silhouette of the barn looming over you, the smear of ice cream across your face, the standing still of time.
So now I'm thinking of the word bucolic, and it occurred to me, in a flash, because, of course, I have the OED memorized forward and back and cross indexed in my brain, that bucolic, from the Latin bucolicus, from the Greek boukolikos, from the Greek boukolos which means "cowherd". How apropos...
There are cows here at Crescent Ridge. There is also ice cream, wonderful, wonderful ice cream. Probably the best ice cream I, you and everyone you've ever known and loved have ever had or will ever have.
But really, it's about the cows. There are cows here, lolling about the pastures and lowing serenely, gazing down on you calmly with that ineffable, zen-like bovine patience and understanding, as you stare back up at them from the grass as you stuff yourself silly with the bounty they so generously give. It's a beautiful thing. -

i grew up in sharon and on this ice cream. CR is the ice cream to which i compare all other ice creams. creamy, rich, milky, sweet, perfectly flavored, the perfect conduit for hot sauce, jimmies, M&Ms or whatever topping your sugar loving heart desires.
almost any summer night from the age of 7 onwards, you could find me in one of the lines, waiting for huge scoops, chatting with my friends, my friends parents, my teachers, my sister's friends, my sister's friends parents, my sisters teachers, my parents friends, my parents' friends kids, the people on my paper route, or old classmates after graduation. the place screams small town new england. i love it.
i love the benches and the ample grassy areas for squatting. i love watching the kids race the clock as they lick their rapidly melting ice cream before it dribbles out of the bottom of their waffle cones. i love bothering the cows if they are out. i love the fact that i can buy gallons of the stuff, or fresh milk or fresh cream or ice cream cakes.
if you are in the area on a hot summer day, make it a point to stop by. pick up some ice cream and eat it leaning against your car, as the locals do, or drive it over the to lake, or borderland park. or just grab a gallon, take it home with your best friend, melt it in the whole thing in the microwave and drink it.
what! i was 8!Listed in: with my mind on my money, CHOCOLATE!

Who'd of thunk you could still get this stuff, anymore?
I adore Crescent Ridge. And they will deliver fresh milk to you, still. I know they deliver to Belmont, and Watertown. I don't know if they go into Cambridge, and the City.
Can anyone else remember getting milk delivered? In the summer, they'd drop of a hunk of ice, in the cooler. How Old School. In winter, you'd have to go out in the early morning, so the milk wouldn't freeze.
If Crescent Ridge doesn't deliver to JP or Brookline, then go to Allandale Farm to pick it up. That's a swell joint, on it's own.
You may also want to take the time to go to their site, to get ice cream. Sure, it's not Ben and Jerry's, as there's no factory tour; but you get to see their cows, and get some terrific ice cream. Go and thank a cow, for your delicious treat!Listed in: Ice Cream a lot!

What can you say about Crescent Ridge that hasn't already been said? The ice cream here is so good that you'll swear off every going anywhere else, at least for a little while.
This place is a local legend... Families drive from miles around, especially in the summertime, wait in long lines just for the home made goodness. I have very vivid memories as a kid of FINALLY reaching the teensy windows, feeling the air-conditioned air rushing out and finally relaying my order to the teenagers behind the counter. Bliss.
Be warned: the portions are massive. You'll order a small and think that there's been some kind of mistake. There's nothing quite like the sensation of ice cream running down your arm because you can't eat it fast enough.
They have a bazillion great flavors, like any good ice cream place should. My personal faves: Butter Crunch and Peppermint Stick. I could never buy a gallon: I'd eat the whole thing in one sitting.
As Crescent Ridge is a real-live functioning dairy, you can buy milk, cream, eggs, etc. at the attached store. Step out back to gaze at the working cows in the pasture.
Note for tourists: "Jimmies" are the crunchy little bits that go on your ice cream. Children around you will cry if you call them "sprinkles". -

I'm not too liberal with 5 stars but this place truly hits all expectations. What are the expectations? Good quality, milky, creamy, smooth, and flavorful ice-cream that isn't too sweet with a plethora of flavor selection at a responsible price point and gracious portions: check.
You really cant complain about this place. The ice-cream is fresh (i mean the freaking cows are right there) and you can really distinguish the flavor between fresh ice cream and those which are mass produced (THEN shipped to the ice cream parlor for consumption). The flavor selection is unique and expansive and none of them have disappointed, with my running favorite still being the black raspberry. If you're a nut lover, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu with nuts and chocolate. The portions are huge, no joke. A crescent ridge small is a any other place medium...ect. They are very liberal with the scoops which is great and makes the price point on par and extremely competitive with any other joint. Must try if you haven't had it, you're in for a treat! -

North Easton, MA
Ice cream is delicious, and huge. Too huge. They really should offer a smaller (and therefore cheaper) size. The kiddie is more than enough for an adult. If it was just the ice cream I was rating it would be 4.5 stars. But we sat at a table out back and it was disgusting. Table looked like it hadn't been cleaned all year, old ice cream all over the benches. They ought to have an employee out there on a regular basis to clean.

Definitely a must. We always take visiting friends and relatives here.
Huge portions at good prices.
Hilarious to watch a family of four scarf an Avalanche Sundae! Nothing like seeing a middle aged couple look-up with ice cream and Hot fudge all over their faces.Listed in: Boston visitors should see...

Talk about bringing me back to my youth. I have such fond memories of rolling up to Crescent ridge with my folks when I was barely old enough to walk. We would go say hello to the cows and walk up to one of the 15 windows and order some of the best ice cream known to man.
Anytime I have a friend come and visit from out of town. I do my very best (given that its summer) to share with them the utter (pun intended) joy that radiates from all things crescent ridge. They possibly have the best mint chip ever created.
Now that I'm older, I still drop by and reminisce about the old times while gorging on an overstuffed waffle cone of... you guessed it Mint Chip. -

My ice cream loyalties will always, always remain with Crescent Ridge. I grew up right around the corner, and back in the days of little kid metabolism and hours spent running around outside, that wasn't quite the dangerous thing that it would be now.
The long lines on a summer Sunday night, rain or shine, are there for a reason.
Wait patiently, grab some ice cream (with jimmies!), and go hang out next to the cow pasture. Nothing better. (One disadvantage to living so close to this place: when the wind blows a certain way, the cows are not so cute.) -

Moosetracks is my poison.
Not much to say as others have stated the positive. Yes they have HUGE portions. Not always good, but definitely worth the $.
Take a look at sugar and sugar free photo.

I grew up in MA and as a kid, would get to have the occasional treat and come here. It was at Crescent Ridge that I learned those sprinkly things known as sprinkles elsewhere were called "jimmies" (the jimmies they sell are called Jimmies, not sprinkles).
I recently went there on a weekend trip with my girlfriend. It had been a decade or more since my last visit. I didn't recall that portion sizes were huge but we were in for a surprise. She ordered a small cone - and out comes this gigantic mega scoop with a tiny little cone. I ordered the kiddie size and got a huge gigantic one as well. unreal.
Next time, definitely a cup not a cone. The ice cream is rich and delicious. I got a mint chocolate chip. Nice and green with good chocolate chunks with a minty flavor. The jimmies are loaded on the ice cream too - absolutely delicious. But too much ice cream! Either go there empty stomach or get a cup and share. Definitely worth it! -

If you're on a Diet...DO NOT go there..lol...This by far is THEE best place I've ever been for Ice cream and I've been to many.....Pricy....yes..portion sizes..HUGE...but WOW is it good,,,Expect to wait in line during the summer but well worth the wait!!!...
In the summer months try the Grape-nut or Buttercrunch ice creams...in the fall...try the seasonal Pumpkin or Eggnog ice creams.....If you haven't tried their milk...go for it!!! and in the fall and holiday seasons the Cider and Eggnog can't be beat!!! Must be a reason National Geographic named the the "8th best place IN THE WORLD" for best ice cream!!!! -
Review from Dawn E.
I LOOOOOVE Crescent Ridge. When I lived in Canton I had a Sunday tradition. I'd grab my empties (glass milk bottles) and head over to Ward's Berry farm for some fresh veggies and then over to Crescent Ridge to return the bottles and get fresh milk (and sometimes ice cream). There was definitely more calculi in my diet then.
The ice cream is great, and you can watch the cows it came from whilst you eat it. My only complaint is that the portions are too big! Even the kiddie isn't so kiddie. I'd love it if they had a $1 size that was just a teeny scoop.
Plus the $1 return on the glass bottles encourages recycling.
Can't get to Sharon for your fresh milk? No worries, the "milk man" delivers! -

BEST ICE CREAM IN THE BOSTON!
I have to admit that CR is the best ice cream place that I've ever had in the boston so far.. It looks like a small local ice cream store but you have to agree this place serves the best ice cream.. :)
Literally you can taste the freshness of ice cream especially they raising own milk cows. I always get their seasonal pumpkin ice cream, strawberry ice cream, or cake batter ice cream. their small size is like a large size of other place so you have to make sure to know the size. -
Review from Eric H.
Walpole, MA
Crescent Ridge not only earn high marks for its farm fresh ice cream, but also as a simpler way of life from a previous generation. It's a great feeling in the warmer weather just sitting on a picnic bench, relaxing by the farm land and watching the cows. At night, warm lights illuminate the stand making the experience even more enjoyable. Even in the cold weather, there's no denying how good this ice cream tastes.
This working dairy farm ranks right up there with the freshest ice cream in the area, with our favorite flavors being moosetracks (vanilla base with fudge swirls and peanut butter truffles mixed in), orange pineapple and the wonderful black raspberry.
Crescent Ridge Dairy is a staple of our summers, despite long lines and some insane drivers in the parking lot (but then again, that's Boston for you). All in all, we love Crescent Ridge!

Costa Mesa, CA
This is the best ice cream I've ever had. They make it on a dairy farm, so it comes straight from the cow to you. The scoops are enormous. They don't have any particularly creative flavors, but they know how to do the classics. The mint chip is amaaaaaaazing.
I'm not from the area, but I have family who live in Sharon. I don't know why you'd find yourself here if you don't either live here already or have family/friends who do, but if you're ever in the neighborhood, make sure you stop here for some ice cream. I don't care if it's the middle of winter, you're vegan, lactose intolerant, whatever, you won't regret it. -

Great ice cream! Ridiculously huge servings! Take your pint of Ben & Jerry's and try to eat more than half in one sitting. That's about the size of a "mini-kiddie."
It's sooo good though, especially the maple walnut. -

What a gem of a place, truly. An old-fashioned dairy bar surrounded by some of the prettiest landscape you'll see in metro west Boston, this joint is great fun for both kids and adults. The ice cream is out of this world, and the portions...? Well, if you have a "normal" appetite, order a kiddie size and split it with a friend. They're HUGE!
These guys have a huge assortment of flavors, not to mention quite a few considerations for those with dairy allergies, on diets, or just maybe in the mood for something different. I have to sing the praises of their frozen yogurt, particularly the black raspberry chocolate chip. Delicious!
I can see this fast becoming a family tradition, and so it should. Places like this are few and far between anymore. Support your local businesses and make some memories! -

If you grew up in any of the towns that touch @ Cobb's corner (or maybe anywhere around there) you know Crescent Ridge and have probably spent many a summer night there either hanging out with friends in your tailgate or petting cows.
Their ice cream is awesome, they have a ton of flavors (though I personally prefer peppermint stick with hot fudge), they have tons of windows and usually they are all open so service is quick even on a warm summer night.
What more is there to say about this place? If you haven't been there and you're in the area, you will not regret it. Enjoy. -

You truly have to love Crescent Ridge. The ice cream is rich and delicious, and there are SO many delicious flavors! I try to pick a different flavor every time, but it's very difficult!!! The TOASTED WALNUT FUDGE IS SOOO GOOD!!! :-)
It is fresh and AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! The portions are GIGANTIC, so a kiddie size suits me just fine. -

Sharon, MA
Pricey, but I have never left feeling unsatisfied. It's got a charm that is unmatched. They still deliver milk. How insane is that? IN GLASS BOTTLES! It's like the 60's again. I'm sure there si a joke in here somewhere about milkmen and wives, but I'm lazy right now.
Originally I gave a four star rating with the missing star reflecting price, but then I remembered something. While the ice cream is delicious, and the charm is there, so are the cows. In the summer the place reeks of farmland. Not like, corn growing, but cow ass. Like a lot of the reviewers I grew up in Sharon for the most part, and even with all my fond childhood memories of dropping more of my parent's hard earned coin than I should've been on frozen treats, the memories of the stench overpower the joy. Much like the smell, it jsut took a minute to get to me, lol.
What are you gonna do? There used to be a restaurant in the Walpole Mall. All the joy sans manure. I wish that place stayed open. FYI in it's spot to this day is an empty space in the mall.
Final rundown, the ice cream is delicious, the smell is atrocious, and the price is tolerable. Bring the kids, watch cows poop. -
Review from Julie B.
Definitely bring the family to this one.
Voted one of the top ten ice cream places in the world by National Geographic ( I think the author was from Sharon).
So many flavors of delicious ice cream and fro-yo.
It might seem pricey but the sizes are massive so it's definitely worth it. -
Review from Kim K.
I've spent my whole life on the South Shore, how did I not know about this place before now!? Right as I move to Somerville, no less!
Anyhoo, we trekked out here as part of an Ice Cream and IKEA night. (PS - IKEA is about 10 minutes away, super convenient!) Boy were we pleased! The parking lot was packed and the line looked long but there are about 6 windows open so we walked right up and ordered.
The ice cream was so, SO delicious. Creamy, cold, refreshing. Perfect on a summer night. The menu is vast, you could find anything you desire here.
Prices were fair. Under $10 for a small cup of coffee heath bar crunch froyo (picture, THAT'S the small! HUGE!) and a sundae.
There are benches and a whole lawn area where you can admire the dairy cows. Cute!
Next time I may take a look inside the store longer and maybe buy some fresh milk, jam, or pizza bagels. -
Review from Kelly O.
I have great memories of coming here as a child, getting delicious ice cream and watching the cows (why that was exciting, I have no idea, but it was). Love the homemadeness of it all, it's so creamy and delicious, and the flavors are excellent (the coconut has tons of chunks in it, etc). After years away, I recently revisited the Ridge and got the black bear (I think that was the name) which was red raspberry ice cream with chocolate chunks and dark chocolate covered raspberry truffles... mmmmm so right up my alley, a perfect end to a summer day.
As noted, their so-called "small" is classified as a large (or even extra large) anywhere else. Seriously, a "small cone" gave me two giant scoops, each about 50% larger than my fist. I ate the first scoop and then had to get a cup as the rest was melting, and that scoop was literally bigger than the cup. I consider myself a fatty, but I couldn't finish it no matter how hard I tried (I put the rest of it in the freezer for the next day). At least you're getting more than your money's worth for $4.25. The "mini-kiddie" size is more akin to a normal small, but you still probably get more than other shops' small sizes here.
