Why did you move away, I love you!
Best crepes imaginable! There was savory and sweet!! -

My husband and I ate at Crepe Xpress about three months ago. We both found the crepes to be okay, not extraordinary, but average. The crepes at Crave Cafe on Ventura Blvd. are much more reasonably priced.
I wanted to give Crepe Xpress another chance and tried to stop by two weeks ago, but it is closed. -

I feel sorry for the poor lads who are giving this place 5 stars. The food is actually not bad, but it's not amazing.
And the prices....my goodness. I'm not stingy or anything, but man...my veggie crepe came out to almost 9 bucks! And this is the mall for christ sakes! Not a restaurant setting where you're being served....
And WAIT....the portions aren't even big! Though for the dessert crepes it might be a good size, but not for food food.
It's worth trying once or twice, but thatttttsss about it :( -

I've have been here several times and have had the strawberry banana nutella crepe and also the ham n cheese crepe.
Be aware this restaurant is in a food court mall, so most likely you would be shopping at the fashion square to eat here. If you swapped out the black plastic plates for real ones and put this place at the grove or somewhere on Ventura, you would be paying a lot more money and still walk out saying how delicious they are. -

Hubby and I have been scouring LA for decent crêpes and were happy to find this little gem. Each time we go to Crepe Xpress, we end up getting into a conversation with the owner/ chef. His French accent gives street cred to this place, but the crêpes really could stand on their own.
Yes, it's in a mall. No, it makes no sense, because the food is frick'n tasty and not deep fried. What I love about C.X., is that the owner will give you suggestions and work with you to make the perfect combination *for you*. It's nice that the worst part about the experience is that there are too many options for deliciousness.
Granted, because it's in a mall the ambiance is lacking and it's a little difficult to imagine yourself à une petite crêperie sur la Seine. Mais, il ne fait rien, cet endroit est de la merde. Go! Vous ne le regretterez pas!Listed in: The Good

I would pay three times the price for this meal in a sit-down restaurant! This is amazing French crepe cooking...everything is fresh, made-to-order...and the sauces are the real deal. What a hidden treasure this is!
My favorite is the Bon Apetit with spinach instead of the potatoes. Savory and delicious with a wonderful mustary sauce. The crepes here are the best I've had in the States...easily as wonderful as the ones I enjoyed in Paris at those great street crepe vendors. -

I really don't know how this place is getting 4.5 stars. I don't think these people know what good crepes can taste like.
The boyfriend and I stopped by on our way out of the mall, expecting some decent dessert crepes. What we got were crepes as thick as pancakes. If you're in the mood for pancakes, go knock yourself out. But crepes are way more delicate and should be treated as such.
This is in addition to some weird stuff we found in our water cups. We still can't figure out what that stuff could have been. -

CREPES HERE ARE SO GOOOOD.
had my first encounter with Nutella here. mmmm :D
light, soft skin which is a must!! i hate crepe places that make their crepe skin hard. somewhat pricey, equivalent to a regular dinner dish, but its so worth it!! -

This is--hands down--the best food I've ever eaten inside a mall. I've been going to this restaurant for years and I've never had a bad meal there.
Everyone that works there is super friendly, the salads have real mixed greens (instead of iceberg), the sauces are insanely delicious, and (best of all) the prices are cheap.
I always make sure I'm hungry when I go to the mall so that I have an excuse to eat there. -
Review from Gigi D.
After trying some crepes from CrepeN Around truck, and discovering that I like crepes, I decided to check these guys out last week when I was at the Mall.
I was hoping to order the Bon Apetit, but without mushrooms, but unfortunately they couldn't do it because the mushrooms were premixed into the Dijon sauce,,, which is unfortunate for those who don't like mushrooms.
The guy working the counter was really nice and suggested we substitute the Bechamel sauce instead. While I was a little disappointed because I really wanted to try the Dijon, I went ahead and did it.
The crepe was far bigger than I expected. It was okay, but I think the potato overpowered it a bit. I think if the potato was sliced and crispy it might be better. But next time I would probably get a little less potato, if I choose that one again.
I do like the Create your own Crepe part so I am sure I will go back again and try something different.
All in all, the portions were really big, price was cheap, staff was nice. I just wish there weren't mushrooms in the Dijon sauce so I could try more combos.
I will update my review after I try something else. -

So what if this joint is in a mall food court? If the food is good, who cares? I'd rate food on airlines if they still SERVED food.
I got the Crepe Xpress which is the strawberry, banana, nutella crepe with whipped cream and chocolate sauce drizzled on top.
For $6.95 you really can't beat it. The kid behind the counter was nice enough, no complaints. Took my order, took my payment, gave back change, made the crepe, and viola. Done. No huffing and puffing like some mall food nooks can be. (P.S. I was here on a Monday morning...can't compare it to a weekend lunch time rush)
Since they don't open till 10am that can be a bit of a bone, but hey, beggars can't be choosers and if YOU want crepes...this is a very cheap and excellent option. -

You would never guess that the best crepe place is in a mall, but it is! Hands down the best crepes in the valley! Reasonably priced and great service. The owner is there most of the time preparing the food himself. He is fantastic and a true food artist.

Pretty darn good for mall food! I was craving a crepe in my neighborhood and came to the mall just for one! Fresh ingredients and a good sized portion. Fair prices.

I, like other yelpers, have to admit - this really doesn't taste like mall food (even though it's right smack dab in the Fashion Mall food court.) The crepes here are outstanding. The owner does kinda remind me of the soup-nazi type. He's doing the crepe making and telling everyone else what to do. if you ask him to repeat something he kinda gets bent outta shape, but he's French so you can't hold that against him. You could say he's nice in that French sort-a-way - if you get my drift? ;)
Particularly good Savory Crepes (prices range from $7-$8):
- Incroyable - filled with Beef Bourguignon - great French flavor.
- Bon Appetit - filled with free range chicken, potatoes, swiss cheese drenched in a dijon cream sauce with mushrooms - Mmmmm.
- The breakfast special: filled with egg, veggies and cheese - this was superb.
- Oui Oui - filled with ground beef & chili - just a crepe burrito - this was just OK.
Sweet Crepes (prices range from $3.5-$7):
- Au Revoir - filled with fresh strawberries, sweet butter sprinkled with powder sugar
-Tres Bon - filled with caramelized apples, cinnamon and smothered wtih that sweet melted butter and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I was so stuffed with crepes that couldn't try his Parisian sandwiches or soups. That'll be next time...
You'll need to ask for that buy-10-crepes-and-get-the-next-one-free card. He gives it to his "special" customers. -

How, you ask, is a delicious crepe restaurant like this located in a mall food court?
The story is as follows...
Many years ago, a talented Parisian chef named Jean Luc graduated from the top culinary school in France. He set up shop in a tiny cafe in Paris. Business was good, but not great. Because of this, Jean Luc had plenty of time to experiment with the menu. After some hits (and a lot of misses), the young chef found his absolute specialty - crepes. Nobody else in the city could make them so creatively, with so much flavor. It was as if Jean Luc had been born to make these delightful little French pancakes. The menu was soon full of unique crepe creations, and the cafe became the talk of Paris. Jean Luc's little cafe was now a must-go for locals and tourists alike. Business was booming. But the suddenly famous young chef was lonely. Very lonely. He'd spent so much time on the menu that he had completely ignored his personal life. That was about to change.
On a crisp September Paris night, an American tourist named Megan walked into the cafe. Jean Luc took one look at her and his heart stopped. He didn't blink for the next minute and forgot to breathe. As great as he was with crepes, Jean Luc was that inept with the fairer sex. He was awkward and bumbling, but knew he couldn't blow this opportunity. He slowly walked to the beautiful girl's table and...couldn't even open his mouth. Nothing. Megan looked up and laughed. She thought he was the most adorable thing she had ever laid eyes on. As shy as Jean Luc was, Megan was that outgoing. She smiled, playfully teased him, cracked a few jokes, and eventually asked him to sit down. The two of them talked at that table together until closing time...holding hands the entire time.
That night was the first kiss of all first kisses. The next 2 weeks were the stuff of movies - a torrid, passionate romance that changed Jean Luc's world. But Megan's vacation was over and it was time to go home. Jean Luc was heartbroken. Megan felt even worse. It had only been 2 weeks, but she decided to be brave and take a big risk. She asked her French lover if he would consider moving with her to California. Jean Luc didn't even blink. He quickly cashed out, selling the cafe for 50 cents on the dollar, and landed 2 days later in America.
As you know, Paris is known as the city of love. Unfortunately, Los Angeles is not. Within a month, the two had realized their romance had been more about Paris than them. But Jean Luc had already sold his successful eatery. He was now stuck in L.A. with no idea what to do next. His one friend in the city, Rodney Fox, realized the San Fernando Valley was completely devoid of French cuisine. Rodney also happened to own a shopping mall, and offered Jean Luc a spectacular deal on the rent. With no other options, and a heart that was broken, Jean Luc accepted the deal. The years moved on, and his heart eventually healed, but that, my friends, is how you have come to eat such delicious French crepes in a mall food court.
Umm...ok...I completely made that story up. I don't even know if the guy's name is Jean Luc. But I have to say this food is shockingly good for a mall food court. I mean, look at all these reviews! If you like crepes (or French love stories), give it a shot... -

Haha, i remember when they first put this place in this mall i was wayyy skeptical about it. Just because...it's a mall. Mall food is never anything to run home about. However i was really pleasantly surprised :)
I'm not usually one for savory crepes, i'm more of a sweet crepe kind of girl. So i never even thought about eating my actual lunch here. However, when i found out that they only use free range chicken, my mind was automatically changed and i was sold. And ever since, this is my lunch (and dessert) place of choice whenever i'm at this mall. SO SO good. Like everyone stated, the owners are the nicest people everrr and they're so generous.
Crepe Xpress really is practically the only reason i ever come to this mall. -

Im always down to get #5 when Im at the mall. Its a tasty pressed chicken sandwich served with salad. Oh I understand they make pretty good Crepes too. Yeah Im a fan. I think its a pretty original thing to serve at a mall.

CANAL STREET, NY
I once had a crepe in Milan Italy that blew my mind; the combination of true Italian nutella with caramelized bananas was enlightening. Since then I've been on a passive search for that quintessential creamy chocolaty moment which lives on in my memories.
That didn't happen today. It is possible to mess up something containing Nutella.... :(
What makes a crepe fabulous or not is a combination of 3 things;
1. The batter used for the crepe
2. The quality ingredients
3. The amount of the ingredients used
Their crepe had too many strawberries, way too much Nutella (like about a third a small jar,) and not enough bananas. The dough itself was just...well...just.....meh..... Didn't do anything for me.
That said i thought this place was a lot of fun, i'd go back again and give it another chance. But next time i'll try a savory item off their menu.
Despite how delicious these pics look, in my opinion Crepe Xpress is over-rated.

Because Crepe Xpress can be found in a mall in the Valley, I shall begin my review in the native Valley Girl dialect....
"Like, totally, for sure, these are like the most bitchin crepes ever, dude. They're majorly the best food at the mall, like, oh my god."
And....done. But really, there's no reason to subject your stomach to Panda Express when you can have a fresh, tasty crepe instead. My fave is the Bon Appetit and they make it with chicken, mushrooms and a yummy coq au vin sauce, plus you also get a little side salad with tomatoes and some kind of dijon dressing.... I don't even like salads much but I always eat this one.
Sadly, all this grubbin means I'm usually too full to get a dessert crepe. Mmmmm Nutella and strawberries.....like, oh my god.Listed in: Five Star Power, Valley Girl, The Lunch Bunch

CREPE EXPRESS Je' taime!
Well, for LA the taste is good. But, keep in mind that if you ever go to Greek islands, the crazy ones (Paros, Santorini, Mykonos), after party which is like 7 or 8 am in the morning, you gotta get a crepe with nuttella and bananas! I was missing that a lot when I moved to LA, and then I met Crepe Express. Oh Buddha, you gotta try it, and insist on the crepe maker to make the crepe extra extra crunchy, cos when it's soft it's not as great as it is crunchy.......mmmmm so heavenly. -

Who would have guessed that the best crepes in LA are in a mall's food court? Crepe Xpress in the Sherman Oaks Fashion Center is a surprising gem, a stand-out from the fast food found in the rest of the food court--or any food court I've seen, for that matter.
The crepes are unusually large, and abundantly filled with flavorful ingredients. Averaging around seven bucks, the portion size for the savory crepes is appropriate for a meal. The service is also infinitely friendlier than it ever was during my trip to Paris. It is such a joy to eat here that it's worth a trip to the mall for no other reason. Honest. -

French couple making french crepes.
Amazing taste & texture, no syrup crap, real fruit, delicious whipped cream, always parking b/c for some reason they are in a mall, 4.5 stars b/c since they are in a mall the seating is very limited.
there was enough fruit packed in their perfect crepe to have a bite of fruit w/ every last bit of crepe goodness. best place for crepes we've found so far, won't be looking for another for a while
also, pretty darn quick.
their menu had some other authentic french sandwiches, some tasty looking salads, too.
Perfectly satisfied Labor day cravings for yummy crepes, will be there next weekend, too
open mall hours, so crepes 'till 9 pm most days
went back this past Saturday, tried out one of their many savory crepes--this one was with smoked salmon, capers, dill cream cheese (just a bit), and some other scrumptious yumminess!!!! go there go there go there...Listed in: My Neighborhood, Top Restaurants

I went to the Fashion Square mall to stop by the Apple Store early in the morning and found my self pretty hungry. So I reluctantly headed towards the food court to grab a bite. The approachable/appetizing place was Crepe Xpress.
All i have to say is, Croque Madame! It Was amazing it reminded me of Europe! I can't wait to head over there next time to try the crepes.
Btw, service was very quick and friendly. Thanks for the good food! -

Had a craving for crepes, so I dragged a friend with me to check this place out after reading all these stellar reviews on Yelp. The guy making the crepes was this adorable French man. I ordered the Au Revoir crepe, and I had trouble pronouncing it (hey I took Spanish in high school, alright?), so he gave me a mini-language lesson in French. All the crepes were around $3-$6, with most being between $5 and $6.
The Au Revoir crepe is basically a strawberry and sugar crepe. I asked him if he could add some chocolate sauce, and he did :) The crepe wasn't too eggy and was pretty thin, which I liked. I wish mine had been cooked a bit longer, but I happen to like things with more of a crunch- it probably would have been good for most normal people. Would have liked a bit more strawberries in the stuffing, but the strawberries were fresh, and he added a strawberry sauce to sweeten the crepe. My friend got a sweet crepe with cinnamon and apples along with ice cream- he polished off the entire thing, so I'm going to guess it was good as well.
Be forewarned- the crepes are pretty small, so don't plan on sharing!
Next time I want to try one of the savory crepes. All in all, not a bad crepe place. Yummy and not too expensive. Great for a snack at the mall or a small bite. -

Best crepes I've found in LA, and certainly way better than anything you'll ever find in a mall food court -- yet there it sits, among the Pandas and Carls and Sbarros, a gleaming quick-serve jewel at Fashion Square.
Authentic, big portions, fresh and tasty ingredients, and quick, cheap, above-and-beyond-friendly service. How often do you go out of your way to eat in a mall? For Crepe Xpress, you just might. Fer reals, folks.
I only wish they were open late-night. -

Yesterday I had one of my crepe cravings so I decided to find a new place while visiting a friend in the area. We looked this place up online and went to the mall to eat. While we were waiting in line, the owner/crepemaker was really funny and kept us entertained while we ordered/waited.
Their menu has both savory crepes and dessert crepes; while I was debating which to get, I opted for basic strawberry nutella crepe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My friend had the apple with cinnamon crepe. First of all, I was a little disappointed with the crepe because it was not crispy or firm at all. Usually I have crepes that you can hold in your hand but this was on a plate and could not be held anyways because it was so soft and everything was a little bit runny inside. The fruits they used were fresh though so at least that was a plus. I think the texture of the pastry part ruined my experience and all I could think about were the delicious ones I usually get from Genki Living. I give it 2 stars because although the place was not really delicious, the staff was really friendly and funny. -

Wow. Seriously, hands down the best meal I've ever had at a mall food court. I saw this place the first time I went to Sherman Oaks Mall, promising myself the next time I was there I'd try it. "Crepes in a mall?" I mused, "How good could they be?" They're flippin' amazing! I was torn between the savory crepe with Braised Beef, w/ red wine sauce, carrots and potatos, and the free range chicken w/ mushrooms and swiss. Tried the first one, and it was delicious. The crepes are made to order by the chef/owner and the ingredients are fresh and high quality. Had a side of yellow squash soup on the side which also was way better then expected. I had a quick chat afterwards to compliment the chef, who is quite friendly.
Will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area. Great place. -

Considering it's location in a mall food court, this is a shining star among the Subway and the Panda Express. The staff is friendly, the Crepes remind me of Paris (especially those on the sweet side of the menu) and it provides a great respite while shopping.

Review from Etch A.

This place is amazing. The owner is french and yes this is authentic french crepes. I have several friends who grew up in Paris and this is the only place they'll go to eat crepes.
I don't know what the heck Chung is talking about saying the crepes are like thick pancakes? That is completely false. They are thin and a little crispy and the food gets folded up inside them. They even use the traditional wooden round spatula-type "thing" to flatten and spread the crepe batter over the round grill (also just like in paris).
The food is excellent. The desserts are amazing. The panini sandwiches are excellent. And the salads are incredibly tasty. I go there at least once or twice a week on my lunch break.
As someone else mentioned too, the owner is really cool and will whip up custom combination crepes for you based on what you like (if you tell him). My wife is indian. One time when we went there and he said, "wait... I know just what to do for you... I'll be right back..." he ran in back and made his own signature recipe yellow curry and came back out and made my wife a chicken curry crepe (which was awesome)! We told him he should put it on the menu! I've noticed they offer it as a special sometimes now but it hasn't officially made it onto the menu yet.
Just an FYI to everyone who is used to "american" crepes... In France crepes can come as sandwiches AND desserts. Here in the US most people just know crepes as a dessert or a breakfast food from places like IHOP (which doesn't use authentic crepe batter). My favorite crepe at Crepe X-press is the Chicken Pesto. The A Bientot is really good too.
Yes it is strange to see this place in a food court. And the food is waaaayyyy better than what you'd expect to find in a food court. This place really should be it's own restaurant outside the food court. It's just way too good to be lumped in with all the other fast food places. -

Food = Good, especially for a mall. The crepes and salads are outstanding. Service = exactly what you expect in a mall, some young kid with a job thinking about every other place they would rather be, getting paid hourly and thus, not motivated at all. Seating is in the mall food court, find your own table nearby and wait for them to call your number.

So I'll pretty much just echo what everyone else has already said. We ordered two crepes - the daily special chicken pesto and the merci. Both were delicious. The crepe was perfectly crispy around the edges and the inside was soft and perfectly cooked. The rating is based solely on the food and the owner. If we didn't know what we were getting into as far as ambiance by going to a food court in a mall I'd give it four stars we just focused on the food and it was a clear 5

I absolutely love this place. Every single dish I've had has been excellent. From salad to soup to sweet and savory crepes and sandwiches. I wish it weren't in the mall so parking would be easier. I tell everyone about this place, I hope it doesn't close.
