My cousins and I were in the neighborhood and always wanted to sit in one of these little bistros and radamely picking we decided to eat at Creme de la Crepe.  It was great we ordered the Normandie which had goat cheese, prosciutto and I think spinach and we also ordered the Vege one which  had cheese, potatoes, spinach and mushroom..delicious.  We didn't stop there we orederd 2 crepe dessert can't remember the names but one had mango with nuttela and the other one was strawbery with honey.  As far as parking we barely had 5 mins to spare at the parking meter.  We plan on going again for brunch.

This place is definitely very quaint & perfect for nice sunny days. I have not been here during night time, but during the day, it's quite delightful, especially when there is a nice summer breeze flowing through the open windows that they have at this restaurant. I always order the "make it yourself" crepe and add chicken, spinach, brie cheese, and sometimes tomatoes. It's a great combination, but sometimes I can do without the brie and just have my savory crepe with the jack cheese that is the default cheese in these crepes. The portions are good and although the crepe looks huge when it comes out, you'll wonder where it went as you eat it a lot quicker than you had imaged you could. The dessert crepes are delicious. Nutella, strawberries, bananas, and vanilla ice cream. What more can you ask for in a nice tie to a perfect evening?

I did try the escargot there, so if you're searching for a little taste of true French food, this is the place to go. If I remember correctly, I believe they even had Ratatouille!

This is our favorite spot to eat at in Hermosa and a great creperie altogether. It's a few blocks east of the beach, right on Pier. Parking can be tricky - get lucky at a meter or park a few blocks inland. Standard Hermosa Beach rules. It's small but calls to mind a quaint street cafe in Paris. The servers are French and speak fluently.

Great French press coffee. The savory crepes are done perfectly. My favorite is the Normandie with goat cheese and prosciutto but I also like the Exquise with brie inside. The sweet crepes are worth the trip alone (try the chestnut cream). Very attentive staff and always smiling. They have non-crepe items and breakfast - all of which sounds great. They also have authentic, flavorful escargot and they used to offer it free on Thursdays with any meal but I think they stopped this offer. Not cheap but affordable - savory crepes are about 10 bucks and the sweet crepes are about half that.

You can't go wrong with this place if you're in the area. Grab a seat on the patio, a cup of coffee and a crepe, and watch the world float by.

Gawd, what was I thinking.....going anywhere near Hermosa Beach on the day that the AVP Open begins......the place is up for grabs.
http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Dedicated Yelper that I  am, my plan today was to review the other location of Creme De La Crepe.  I've been to the new location in Redondo's Riviera Village, but not yet to the original place on Pier in Hermosa.
I found parking, it was a miracle.

I was so hungry for a good breakfast.  I've lost several pounds as a result of the flu from hell over the past 3 weeks.....not a bad thing.....but  I am craving protein.

So I had the same breakfast I always get at the Redondo location:  scrambled eggs, which comes with a dressed side salad of mixed greens (today I got fresh spinach instead), and toasts, and their delicious potato casserole.  (More than I could eat, ten bucks with coffee.)

This little cafe could not be more French!  The staff speaks French (as well as English with heavy French accents), and there are paintings of the French countryside all over the walls, & all the decor is authentic country French, & the chef even wears a French toque.......charming.

The Hermosa location is smaller than the new Redondo cafe, but the service is the same:  perfection.
And the coffee is good.  And I am very picky about coffee.
Every table had a fresh yellow rose.

Creme De La Crepe does more than offer yummy food.  It has a way of brightening one's entire day.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to find a place like this. Sitting just a couple of blocks away from the beach, this little restaurant impresses with it's service and food. My fiancee and I are in love with their crepes (especially the dessert ones). The french onion soup is one of the best I've ever had too.

I must've walked by this place a million times going to Fritto Misto or just to shop around Pier Ave. Had to try it finally. Friend AI and I finally found a spot (hard to do on Friday nights), but it was only 1-hour parking, so I said, "Eat fast!"

We get there and there are only two tables seated. Sweet. We sit down and there is this super cute French girl who greets us and is our server. And is the only server. It's a small place with probably 12 tables and there are also about 2 tables outside.

It's a pretty extensive menu for such a small place, and they have escargot, pasta, ratatouille, and of course, crepes.

Forgive my uncouthness and the butchering of all French words in this review.

I ordered up the Exquise for $11.50, which was brie, tomatoes and ham with a basil sauce. My friend had the Vondrome which was bacon, chicken and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. Both come with a small green salad. My crepe was good, although I couldn't tell if my ham was processed ham or not. I told them easy cheese and it was plenty, maybe more than "easy." Tomatos were definitely fresh and the crepe shell itself was nice and light and was not soggy. We ate them up, and ordered a dessert one before we were even finished, so the timing would be just right.

AI had never had nutella before, so I ordered up one that had strawberries, bananas, nutella and vanilla ice cream. We ate that thing faster than you could say Pepe le Pew. It was so good.

Four stars because the food was good, service was good, but the place was just a little too dark for me and my crepe was a bit on the plain side. I really, really, really wanted to get coffee, but I didn't want to be up for days. Next time!

NOTE: I believe they do deliver because I saw a delivery guy pick up a big order, put it in a warming bag and take off. It was Friday night and they could definitely accommodate groups by pushing tables together, so I think it just depends on timing. And there were kids there and they were totally kid-friendly.

Talk about a restaurant perfect storm -- where location, clientele and theme form a synergy of epicurean delights. So why the 4-stars? They no longer let you bring your own wine! They use to let you bring your own vino with no corkage fee. NO CORKAGE FEE!!!! Now you can't bring it in nor do they serve any alcohol -- hearkens back to the days of prohibition.

Decor: Quaint little cafe-ish dining room that can feel a bit cramp when they are at capacity. I think they have a marine theme going on there: sailboats, sextons and the such.

FOOD: The food is very good, but definitely stick w/ the crepes - savory or sweet. On certain nights -- either Tues or Thurs (I forget) -- they offer up free escargots. Yes I know they're snails, but it's a French place so put aside your American biases and suck down one of those slimy suckers dripping with garlicky goodness. They be some good eatin'!

I've never understood the fascination with fondues, but they serve it. I hear it's not bad, if you're into that sort of thing.

Our fave crepes:
- Lunch/Dinner: Parisienne;  Montagnarde
- Breakfast: Balzac; Campagnarde
- Dessert: Zidane (So good it'll make you want to head butt someone!)

Cool note: I think the wait staff are all French college exchange students and they are usually very cute and friendly -- boys and girls. Their English is pretty good and they will try to teach you how to order in French if you want. Neat!

I was meeting a friend in Hermosa and yelped some restaurants and this one sold me and didn't disappoint. It was a little intimidating walking in since no one was in there but I knew the reviews were good so I went with it. It was also a Tues night- not exactly the hippest night of the week!

It's a quaint restaurant and makes you feel like you're in Europe. There was French music in the background that was just subtle enough not to be distracting. The hostess/waitress was French which added to the ambiance. She was nice, helpful and provided us some good suggestions.

I ordered the Normadie and it was really good and hit the spot. My friend got the beef bourguignon and raved about it. My friend ordered the Zidane for dessert and that just capped the whole experience.

As everyone has noted, the crepes here are outstanding (both the sweet and savory ones).

But what makes my bf and I come back here over and over again is that they have amazing espresso drinks!  I usually order an Americano which is just the right size with an intense espresso aroma.  My bf usually gets the cappuccino which has a perfectly steamed cap of foam.  This is one of the few places in Hermosa that's serious about its coffee and understands what a true espresso drink should be like.

Their sandwiches and omelets are also very good if you're not in the mood for a crepe.  During our last visit, we saw a sign for free escargot on Thursday nights.   We haven't had them yet but something tells me we'll be coming back soon.

I must have been the only person who caught them on an off-day because I had a terrible experience at this place!

First off, we walk in for dinner (around 8pm) and there are several tables that haven't been bussed and waitresses just standing in the back talking to each other.  We are greeted promptly, however, and a table is cleared and we are seated.  The waitress takes our orders and half-way through giving my order, she stops me and says, "Wait, I think I need to write this down... I have a terrible memory!"  So she writes down my order and whisks away to the kitchen.

She returns in few minutes with our appetizer, but does not remember who it's for.  So she stands for a good 15 seconds in the middle of the room holding our Caprese.  (I guess she didn't write that part down).  Finally, I put her out of her misery and wave her down.

Our entrees arrive and thankfully, it came quickly and without a survey of confusion.  I dig in and realize that they've messed up on a couple of ingredients (maybe the pen went dry?).  So I politely notify the waitress and she returns to the kitchen to right my order.  It comes back to me correctly and without an apology.

Now, as a paying-customer, I want an apology after a mess-up.  Regardless of whether you didn't hear my correctly, or whatever the excuse, I'd like to know some sort of confirmation that you wish it didn't happen in the first place.  Once again, I'm not asking for blood, just an apology.

All around, the food was decent and the ambiance was charming but the service definitely left something to be desired.  If I want mediocre food with bad service, I think I'll just stick to my local La Creperie in Belmont Shore and skip the commute. But due to all the great reviews, I'll probably try this one again in the future but not anytime soon.

Very good crepes. The only con is that the place is so small! The tables are squished together and you probably have maybe a 6 inch gap inbetween tables. While I was squeezing to get to the other side of the table, I was praying that my butt would not touch anyones food =X

Make sure to order coffee here as well. I personally LOVE the mocha here.

Well, i must begin by saying Yummy crepes!!!!!!!!!!! Especially the dessert crepes (my personal favorite). Great if you are in the mood for something out of the ordinary. They serve free escargots on Thursdays, something u get used to after the second or third try. The place is very small and a bit uncomfortable and all the waiters are french, so you are not getting the usual customer service we are used to here in United States, however i do strongly recomment to go discover a bit of Europe, while u enjoy your crepe.

This is a little bit of Paris tucked away on Pier St. in Hermosa Beach.  We came in very early one morning for breakfast, which was a key move as I hear it gets very crowded!  Our server was extremely attentive and the breakfast crepes are simply delicious.  I opted for the scrambled egg, bacon, and cheese one - which contrary to how it sounds was actually quite light and delicious.

I suggest ordering a cup of hot tea as well - you get a large selection of teas to choose from and some very tasty honey which was verrry yummy.  My only warning is to avoid the place during Sunday brunch as I hear it can get very busy and its a small place.  Otherwise- five stars!

Oh, and as an added bonus, there is very pleasant art on the walls including beautiful landscapes and farm animals.  Very nice!

There isn't much room to complain about Creme De La Crepe. The restaurant itself does border on the cozy/cramped side but everyone is smiling away and enjoying themselves which turns the tide towards intimate rather than boxed in. The staff is all French and speak almost no English to one another but do speak English to customers. I find it endearing and a part of this restaurants charm.

As far as food goes, portions are monstrous but do not lead down the path of food coma. I started with a mocha and it put such a smile on my face. It was caffeine with just a hint of choco. Very nice. I had the Normandie which blew me away! Goat cheese, spinach, proscuitto, grilled onions and sour cream = muffled sexy noises and full cheeks. My friend had the Marine but the Salmon had such a strong fish scent and flavor. Wasn't a favorite. The Decadente for dessert was good except for the parts that didn't flambe for long enough.

Great service, great food, great decor/atmosphere.

Umm...yeah. Yum-fricking-yum! Crepes are awesome, right? Right. What's better than a crepe, you ask? I'll tell you: A really goddamn good crepe, that's what. The crepes at Creme De La Crepe rule. Light, and perfect, and that's even before you taste what's inside. Filled with awesomeness, all the crepes I've tried(breakfast, sweet, savory) have pleased me like they meant it.

Also, it's got a nice little  sunny French cafe feel to it and the servers are very attentive. I love this place!

I've been here several times since moving to the Hermosa Pier (I don't live, like, under the pier, just near it). Anyways, I've eaten in and taken out. At first I would order several crepes because I thought they'd be small but I was sooo wrong. The crepes are large and they stuff them with enough food to satisfy your breakfast, lunch, or desert appetite.

Their desert crepes are delicious, I suggest you try them all. I've had like 3 of them so far. Their lunch crepes are also good, and the salad that comes with them is a nice surprise.. and the dressing ... don't get me started. It's like a rich, but light buttermilk dressing that is ridiculous. sooo good. I could drink it from a bowl.

I went recently with Sandra K. and had breakfast and I ate in for the first time. Our waitress was very polite and attentive and had an adorable  french accent which made our breakfast that much more authentic. The honey they served with my girl's tea was awshm, and I wanted to take it home. The breakfast crepes we had were filling and delicious and I recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Sometimes I wish I was French....I love their accent, it's so sexy!!!

Anyway, I met my friend for dinner last night. Some local high school kids were participating in a field trip to practice their conversational  french.....cute, but they took up the whole damn place, were really loud and just got in the way. BTW, I don't feel bad saying this cause I teach kids  and even though I love 'em, they can be a pain in the ass sometimes!!

The food was really good. I ordered the scallop buckwheat crepe and my friend ordered a chicken crepe. Both were  delicious. Of course we had to order crepes for dessert, nutella for me...always. With bananas, strawberries, nutella and vanilla ice cream...OMG!!!! Again, I was in chocolate heaven.
The restaurant is little small, but has a really cozy feeling. The servers were really sweet. Dinner, dessert and coffee was $55.00 (thank you Arthur  Frommer)
You can bring wine and they open it for you, no fee.

It's a real French Crepe shop and the crepes are done right.  I had the "Zidane" choice which was a desert crepe with strawberries, banana, nutella, fresh cream with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  It was delicious and that was right after a hefty dim sum lunch!  While I was enjoying my crepe I noticed that this place also serves lunch and dinner but what caught my eye was the french onion soup so I will definitely go back to try that soon and post a follow up review.
The place is tiny but they seemed to have done a good job with whatever space was available.  It's a definite recommend from me if you like crepes!

i've been here a couple times for lunch/brunch...it's really good, and during the week it's not that crowded.  the orders are a pretty good size, and the service is great--they're really good about giving recommendations. the crepes were delicious (i've tried both savory and sweet crepes), although the second time around the sweet crepe i had was a little crispy for my preference.  it was definitely still good though, and i plan on returning for more lunch/brunches here.

i would also recommend creperie by jack n jill's--they have great crepes if you're ever near w. 3rd st.

i been coming here for a few years now. The food is pretty good. Its a very cute restaurant. Very cheery French cafe like hole in the wall. I had one bad thing happen here. My husband found a moth in his salad. The waiter took it back and didn't charge us for it and my meal. I would have given it one more star if that didn't happen. But the staff is very nice and the food is good.

Creme De La Crepe is hands down my favorite place since I moved to Hermosa from SF. I have been on a search for the best breakfast in the South Bay and I finally found it. All the food is delicious and the price is right. You can even bring your own wine. My recommendation: get the goat cheese omelet. The wait staff are all French, and unlike the stereotype are extremely friendly and will cater to what you want even if its not on the menu.

Another great place in Hermosa.  I only had the dessert crepes here but the dinner crepes looked good. They were offering free escargot the night we were there but we already had dinner. I love escargot so we might need to get back here. Plus, no corkage fee!  Yeah!  Anyway, back to the dessert crepe. Delicious! I had the nutella, banana and chocolate offering which we shared but I could easily have had my own.  It has a nice romantic atmosphere too.  But you might want to skip the restroom if you don't really need to go that bad. It's tiny and way in the back. It's clean, just tiny.

A friend of mine has been mentioning Creme De La Crepe to me for a while now and I usually run by it when I do the Nike runs down on the Pier.

Anyways, I was going to hang out with the same friend and decided to order dinner for the two of us. She thought it was funny that I took this opportunity to finally try out the restaurant. I ordered a dinner crepe and a dessert crepe to go. The dinner crepe had a little too much cheese in it, but otherwise tasted wonderful. The dessert crepe was simply delicious... c'est magnifique!

With so many different crepes, there is bound to be one that suits your palate and if not, well, you can choose your own ingredients to make one to your liking!

Jon and I usually head over here on weekends with our bikes and rollerblades and eat outside. The cafe is small but very charming. The male and female waiters are amicable. Not to mention, they are hotties and have the cutest French accents! It's kinda cramped inside with maybe a half a dozen tables and a couple outside. I like that there's always fresh flowers and candles greeting you at each table. It's a bit of a hike uphill from the strand and you might have to wait a few minutes for a table but it's the best place for authentic French crepes I know of around. Perfect for weekend brunches!

It can get a little pricey for the savory lunch/dinner crepes so I usually go for the breakfast stuff. My personal favorite is the Campagnarde (bacon, tomatoes, onions, shrooms, and cheese). They normally pile all of these ingredients in a buckwheat crepe but I like to order it with the sweet batter crepe. I could eat just about anything rolled up in that sweet batter!! The crepes all come with a small simple salad of chopped romaine and house dressing as a side. I also love the Zidane dessert crepe which is loaded with fresh strawberries, bananas, and nutella done up a la mode with whipped cream. YUM-O! as Rachael Ray would say. =P Also, try the "flambe" dessert crepes. Who doesn't enjoy having alcohol poured all over their food and watching it flare up in flames??

Creme de la Crepe is MORE than just crepes. They also serve up delicious omelets, soups, sandwiches and paninis, salads, meat/pasta entrees, and fondue daily with free escargot night on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There's something for everyone here.

I love this place!!! (I hate Hermosa Beach Parking Enforcement -- yes I got a ticket). I've tried almost every single sweet crepe and still think the ones with flambed alcohol are the best! I remember enjoying the savory crepes I've tried as well. A quick summary:

1) Authentic French waiters that are actually really sweet  & not snobby or rude!
2) Free escargot on Thursdays (i didn't try them tho...can't get over the fact that they're snails)
3) Apparently you can bring your own wine w/o a fee (i don't drink wine so I haven't personally done this myself)
4) Every single time I went, they were playing the soundtrack from Amelie.

The only word of warning is that if the alcohol isn't properly set aflame,  the bitterness of the alcohol itself can be a bit strong.

this place is typically french. very outgoing welcome. The crepes are good. Not exactly French style. They're actually more a kind of American-French Food...I had a delightful moment.

I love crepes and this place has excellent ones. They have tasty lunch crepes that can be filled with your choice of goat cheese, ham, chicken etc. Their dessert crepes are sweet, soft and absolutely yummy. You can even have ice cream on top of your dessert crepe.

Atmosphere wise it's a very cute and homey place. The downside is that it can get really hot in there if you go with a large group. I don't think they have air conditioning and so our group of about 15 people were sweating away as we ate our crepes =O.

Parking is also difficult. It's street parking on the  super crowded Pier Ave so if you go here you may have to park far away. Be prepared to walk.

Cute little French place on Pier in Hermosa Beach. Another one of my regular spots for breakfast. I love starting my morning off with a Hot Pisane or a Craquante. They also have amazing Cappacino, and they love my little Yorkshire Terrier. French Accents included!!! Bon a petit!!!!

I thought I knew what crepes were like until I went here, amazing!  I had chicken and mushrooms with a wine sauce, very good but very rich.  I easily could have split it, but maybe that's just me.  Highly reccomend desert, we had some banana/strawberry/chocolate crepe with ice cream and it was ridiculous.  Easy to get in and out too.

Best crepery in South Bay  and Westside. Both their savory and sweet crepes are delicious, as well as their quiches. And don't forget their Salade Nicoise. The French press coffee is so tasteful that you don't  even need creme or sugar.

The service is great and the owners/servers are extremely friendly. Go there for a late brunch (when there aren't as many people) and you can sit there and have an authentic French-style brunch, where you can have a leisure meal and chat  while sipping on your coffee. Very relaxing and warm environment.

Great crepes! We happened to go there just following the unfortunate defeat of the French National Football (*soccer in American English) Team by the Italian National Team... so the spirits were a bit low, but still a great atmosphere with newest French pop music, and a fantastic line-up of crepes recipies based on real ingredients... Oh, such aromatic savory Escargots de Bourgogne! You should know one thing about this place: we had to bring our own wine, which is rather unusual for a French restaurant... but at least there is no corkage fee. Most crepes go well with a white wine; in our case, we always prefer Champagne. There are two crepe menus: entree & dessert. So save some space in your stomach before you visit, cus you may end up pigging out big time.

Please be careful not to forget paying the parking meters (with quarters) in this otherwise friendly Hermosa Beach location- even on Sunday, you get no break... matter of fact, I got a sour ticket because I wasn't wise enough to expect an Sunday parking meter enforcement... so in the end it cost me $35 dollars for parking! Went a bit over budget here...

anyway, enjoy this authentic Crepes place in LA- real French taste, real French peoples serving you & cooking for you, real French attitude (awwww... umm... they just appear on the stubborn side, but if you get to talk to them, you will know they are really friendly people!).

I'm a huge fan of crepes, whether savory or sweet.  Creme de la Crepe opened in 2001 and I frequented the place between 2002 and 2003, until I moved to the Bay.  The cafe used to be staffed by people that resided in Hermosa's hostel.  The first owner and the old chefs and I became pretty good friends because I ate there at least once a week.  We became such good friends, that the guys even taught me how to make crepes properly during one of their slower periods.

Right around the time I left the South Bay, the first owner of the cafe sold his business to someone else and today was the first time I visited the cafe since the change in ownership took place.

The cafe and the food is not how I remembered it.  They've added more tables, probably to accommodate more guests; they used to have lines out the door, but the flavor of the food has changed.  I ordered my usual, Parisienne and Saveureuse, and was very disappointed.

The Parisienne (Chicken in a white wine sauce with mushrooms) came with a side salad, but they changed the dressing, which used to have a yellow mustard base.  Now, it tastes like mayonnaise, which I absolutely dislike.  The white wine sauce has also changed.

The dessert crepe was just how I remembered it - freshly whipped cream, bananas, semi-sweet chocolate sauce, and toasted almonds.  I loved it!  I have yet to find a place that makes the dessert crepe the way they do.  I've been to several creperies in the Bay Area; I don't understand why they always want/have to sprinkle powdered sugar on the crepe.

I would dine here again, but I won't crave for their food like I used to.  If you're a fan of crepes and have a serious hankering for it, head North and dine at Ti Couz instead.
