1 review for Creekside Restaurant At Solitude
If you are sitting in traffic, leaving Brighton after a long day of skiing, you could certainly do worse than the Creekside Restaurant. That said, this place certainly pretends to be a lot more than it really is. It tries to have this air of fine dining, but in earnest, the menu, as well as the presentation and execution of the food are all rather pedestrian. Plus, running out of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on a Saturday evening is a no-no, especially when you have a limited selection of beer to begin with.
We started with the Antipasti Platter, which consisted of three cheese, prosciutto, and some nuts and fruit. While none of the items were bad, they were all rather unspectacular. Case in point was the cheese they chose to feature: brie, chevre, and blue cheese - how boring and unimaginative can you get?
Moving on to the entrees, I will admit that I again ordered poorly. I ordered a dish called Africana, which the menu describes as:
Pork Tenderloin Strips with Curry Creme and Basmati Rice served with Bananas, Mango Chutney, Mandarin Oranges and Peanuts on the side.
Ok, that sounds pretty good. What it should have read is:
Curry Creme', the consistency of a thick gravy, with little, barely identifiable pork balls, inexplicably serve with these side items, which are ultimately overwhelmed by your giant bowl of yellow goo.
Enough said. I tried a friends pizza which was fine, though nothing great. The other pastas on the table looked pretty boring too.
Service was fine, though the hostess seemed a little surly by us showing up at 4:45.
If you are staying at Solitude this is certainly an option, otherwise it may be worth it to wait for something down in SLC.
