Yelp comes through once more. Not only was Heather helpful, incredibly knowledgeable, and insightful, but what a super nice merchant. Her suggestions were absolutely magnificent, and I especially appreciate how she "guided" me to making the best decisions.
What a bonus that the gallery is close, parking is easily found, and she showcases local artists. Truly, it does not get better than this. And for those of you who quick turn-around times, remember that Heather is understandably in demand, and she does not "rush" a job. She treats it as an artist does.
Five stars (six, if that was a possibility!) -

In these challenging times it seems to "take a village" to keep a small independent business going. Heather, the owner of Creative Framing, recently helped my small dog walking and boarding business by doing a beautiful job of framing two awards we've gotten from local magazines.
I went in the door with the idea of just mounting them on foam core board, but after a talk with Heather about what these awards actually mean to me and my business, I decided to follow her advice to upgrade the job. She used a color core mat that matched the colors in the awards and a dark chocolate wood frame that's clean and contemporary and will match any interior. Pet care professionals don't make a lot of money, so I was happy it was clear I was getting an excellent value--it made it easier for me to make the choice that would make me happier in the long run. She paid my parking while I was in her shop and also gave me some tokens for $10 off my next framing job. What a doll.
She was absolutely right. Now the awards are in my hallway and several customers have stopped to read them in the weeks they've been up--something they're more likely to do since they are highlighted in such a gorgeous way. I am so glad I listened to Heather's advice. She has great taste and was so kind to me. Creative Framing is definitely my frame shop of choice now. -

though small, this place has a good selection of framing materials and a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Ask for Heather - she's wonderful!
they even give discount tokens - $5 off your next purchase for every $100 you spend. since this stuff ain't cheap, the $5's add up... -

this is a no-brainer! Heather is wonderful, she does a great job. Besides that , you do not need to hassle with downtown parking, her shop is right off highway 13 in Montclair ..there are meters right in front, but there is free parking for cheapskates right around the corner.

I have been framing all of my art at Creative Framing for almost 10 years. Heather is warm, honest and super helpful. Moreover her prices are fair. This place is close to home and never disappoints.

Heather is no longer the manager, she bought the business - Yaaaaay!
I can only echo my previous comments, she does marvelous work at good prices and always guides you well in the appropriate look for your image or art.
She also does a great job of 'in home' art hanging consultations - did a lot of hanging for us - and hangs exhibits really nicely.
On top of all that she is a nice person :-))Listed in: My Neighborhood

You can't find a more friendly local business. Heather the owner is helpful and is an artist herself. She has great art shows in her store and gallery featuring local artists. It is a small shop with a huge selection of frames that are so artfully arranged.

Heather, the owner, is a one girl show on many levels. The frame she created for one of my favorite pictures made the whole piece a conversation starter - everyone notices it immediately. She may have a waiting time but you will love her work.

Wow! Has it been that long! I reviewed this frame shop a few years ago.
Since then Heather has purchased the business and she has has now owned it for over three years. She has really worked hard to build it into a Gallery and has since showcased 30 or 40 Bay Area artists - even giving some of them their first show.
Heather continues to help out various schools and non-profits and treats her customers amazingly well. If you want to know what customer service is supposed to look like - this is the place. And you will take home you art in a frame that will show it off and protect it for years to come.

Heather, the manager, has been building custom picture frames for over 14 years. She has worked at Creative Framing for seven years. She really knows her stuff. In September 2009, she will take over as the new owner. I am so excited for her. She has earned it.
Heather has her inventory memorized and soon as a customer shows her their artwork, she pulls out the perfect frame to really show off the work. She had a wonderful eye for design and is really good at drawing out what the customer is looking for, so that she can match the art with the customers style and home decor.
Creative Framing has made many donations to my art classroom and even framed some of my students art work.

I have had all my framing done here since 1982. I started with Dave and was terrified when I heard Dave wanted to sell the business. Thank heaven Heather, who has been there since 2002, is now the new owner.
Creative Framers are the framers I trust with my needlepoint. We have done some wonderful framings; specialized mat cuts, multiple mats, multiple fillets, double moldings, and more. I'm not one for the traditional off-white mat. We've done some pieces others might think odd, but they've worked and brought my pieces to life. We've even framed plates.
Heather is delightful, professional and highly knowledgeable. I am pleased to know both her, and the shop, will be there to continue my framing for many years to come. -

We have been doing business with Creative Framing since 1981. We keep going back and telling our friends about the shop because the service is excellent, the adivce is always good and the price is fair. Tokens ease the cost of the next framing job we need done. Since Heather bought the business from the original owner she has done nothing but improve the business. Her remodeling of the shop and expansion of the gallery to include art shows has made Creative Framing and Gallery a much more interesting business for the neighborhood.

I have been going to Creative Framing for almost 10 years and their work is always top notch. Heather, the owner, has framed diplomas, prints, oils, tapa cloth, charcoal, certificates, you name Heather has the Frame for it! When it comes to picking out the frame I must say I was a little bit nervous with a few of Heather's choices; however, by the time the matting was done the finished product was always more than I could have ever asked for!

I have patronized Creative Framing for probably 10 years now. Most of the art in my home was framed by Heather! She has an unerring sense of design and practices meticulous attention to detail. She's friendly and fast and, best of all, very reasonable. She makes house calls; this came in handy for me, since recently I inherited a few nice paintings and needed some advice on how to integrate them. You'd be surprized what a difference the fresh perspective of a professional can have on the art and artifacts you walk by every day! Give Heather a try!

Heather has a great eye for picking out and suggesting the perfect combination of frame and matting that enhances, but does not overwhelm a piece of art. I have seen and experienced times when she suggests a less expensive alternative. It is always for the sake of showing off the art the best way possible. Besides that, Heather has a great energy that is contagious. Thank you Heather!

I agree you could not find a friendlier local business. Heather gave me some scrap matt board for a sewing project. I was just passing by after getting a pizza. Later when I had a few framing projects she was very nice again. She was very generous with her time and knowledge. She is creative and has a good eye to make a piece look better. She talked to me about cheaper alternatives and was very nice about it. The prices were about 1/3 the price of someone else I called offering a Groupon. I have not received my job back yet but I have confidence that it will be done very nicely. So great prices, great service and Heather is a very nice person. Please support her small business.

I love this shop! I've been taking pieces to Heather for 4+ years and was so happy for Heather when she announced that she way buying the business.
Heather has a fantastic eye and has a stunning memory...she will remember a peice that I brought in 2 years before and help me figure out a way to make that peice and the one in my hand currently work together! I have hired Heather to come to my house and help me arrange and hang my art, and when I bring in a new peice she not only recalls my current art but will remember my house well enough to advise me on where to put it.
It's a pleasure to walk in the shop, Heather is always enthusiastic about helping me and always does a fantastic job. I have never walked away unhappy, or even ambivilent about what she has done. She takes the time to figure out what it is that I want to do, and then helps me find the best way to do it. She works with me to stay within my budget and and always exceeded my expectations. -

We take all our pictures to Heather for framing. She always goes above and beyond to get a great look. With one old photo I gave her she took it on her own to a photo shop to be enlarged for a better look in the frame. Even the most simply project gets first class attention and she often finds a new and unique way to mount or frame what I take to her.

You know how sometimes you go into a business and you have to know exactly what you want and need otherwise things may go awry...this is definitely not that place. Heather is extremely helpful, has an amazing eye for art and always seems to know exactly what works. I've had art framed, purchased a couple of pieces of her artwork and she has done consulting work for me; arranging art, furniture and even helping me choose paint colors for my home. She is amazingly patient and one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to work with!
