This review is for Sarah, the owner of this salon. She was recommended to me by a coworker of mine. She does amazing job w highlights! Im very picky when it comes to how I want my highlights to turn out, I like them looking very natural (blended highlights) yet noticeable. I've gone to Sarah twice and each time they come out great! Her approach to highlighting doesn't damage my hair :) Prices are very reasonable compared to most salons I've gone too.

Salon itself is very modern and clean!

Sara did a great job and this is a very nice salon.  Kathy
Thuy made time for me while getting my hair done and did an amazing job on my eyebrows.  My husband was very happy with the results.

Without realizing it, my stylist Sara is the same person who did my hair YEARS ago when I was still in high school! I knew it'd be a hit because I remembered loving my hair after seeing her. And so it remains.

My hair is very different than it was back then but she still does a wonderful job. She answers all my questions truthfully and helps me achieve the best condition of my hair possible. I'm going to be going here for a long time.

I get my hair deep conditioned and cut here + in a few weeks she'll be doing a Brazilian Blowout for me. I'll update my review after that as well!

The aesthetician, Kathy Thuy, at Creative Concepts Salon is one of the finest in the Bay Area.  She is a specialist in skin care and permanent makeup.  The service you receive from her is very nurturing and relaxing, and the results are truly amazing.  My family thought I looked 10 years younger after I received one of her facials.

On top of this, her prices are very low and reasonable.  For example, a facial is only $50.  Other salons and spas charge up to $110 for the same service.

She has a full set of capabilities and the options on her menu include:

    European Facials

    Micro-Derma Abrasion

    Waxing
    -eyebrows
    -underarms
    -lips or chin
    -bikini
    -Brazilian
    -legs
    -back
    -chest
    -eye lash perm

    Permanent Make Up
    -eyebrows
    -eye liner
    -lip liner
    -full up

She only uses the highest quality skin care lotions and ointments. The facial sessions are soothing and relaxing, with beautiful background music playing.

Highest recommendations for Kathy for all your skin care needs.

    WAXING:
This salon is great. I get all my services done here. The aesthetician Kathy is awesome. Her prices are very reasonable and she takes great care of your skin. I get my waxing done here (eyebrows, lip, basically whole face, LOL) and she is perfect every time. I hear her facials are great but I haven't had the time to get one yet. She is always in a great mood and offers great customer service. I highly recommend Kathy for all your waxing needs.

    HAIR:
Jennifer is the person to go to espcially if you think you have an untameable mane. She always offers suggestions and hears what you want and the end result is AMAZING!!! I have recieved cuts, highlights, and touch ups from this always friendly gal. She is always in a great mood which makes you feel comfortable as soon as you step in the salon. She makes you feel at home. Customer Service is important to me. (Especially when your hair dresser listens and gives you what you want not what they want.) I have had some horrible experiences in the past. However, Im glad I found this place. Jennifer works her magic and creativity on my long curly hair evertime. I get alot of compliments on my hair. Her prices are  very reasonable too. I hear she does awesome nails too. I need to try that service as well.

I highly reccomend this salon. Its very professional and prices are great and customer service is fabulous.

Nice decor. Slightly unfriendly staff upon arriving. Nice lighting.

My experience was really nice right up until the very end. I went in for a simple haircut with one request: I wanted my hair to look healthier. I wanted some layers and a few inches cut off. Unfortunately I am easily influenced and I was convinced to get a body wave to add some bulk to my hair. The end result was very disappointing because the color that I had recently died my hair was stripped andmy hair felt even more ragged. My hairdresser didn't warm me that these things would happen. Overall I was really pleased with my experience like the conversation etc. I did not like that another one of the hairdressers stepped in at the very end and tried to take over. she was spraying water on my hair and trying to flatten it out. It was a semi chaotic moment. I left feeling like my hair just looked like I never brushed it, frizzy mess. Now I have to wait for it to grow out and I have to wait to die it again. A bit disappointing. A girl shouldn't feel like that leaving a salon. I would have been happier just with a haircut.

I always go here to get all my waxing and facial needs done. The aesthetician, Kathy Thuy, is very sweet and friendly. She does an excellent job to get my eyebrows looking great every time! The prices are reasonable and for the service you're getting, WHAT A DEAL! Normally, I wouldn't listen to the type of music she plays but when I'm there, the music just seemed soothing and relaxing. I've been coming here for a while and I can say I'm happy walking out every single time :)

I really enjoyed this salon. I was in a hurry with my hands looking a hot mess and decided to try out this place based on other reviews. I was not disappointed.

Jennifer fixed my jacked up nails. She was talkative and an absolute charm. It was like having a girlfriend do your nails.

The salon is clean and inviting. Lovely decor. AND they serve wine! What?!

I'd say this was my best experience so far. Also, I like that my nails are natural looking. The acrylic isn't thick.

This is a multi-ethnic salon. Love it! Will def return.

I've been going to Creative Concepts for a few months now & always leave satisfied.  I don't come here for hair services b/c I have a fabulous stylist in Berkeley (at Moonshadow Salon) that I've been using for 11+ years.  However, I go to Creative Concepts for my pink & white fills.  The staff is super friendly and make you feel right at home.  They also offer wine & champagne to every patron.  Who wouldn't want that?!  I came in on Saturday morning and they had a box of fresh donuts out - tempting but I stayed away. ;)

I recommend Jennifer - she's very sweet, talkative, funny, and does an outstanding job!

Other services offered: waxing, eyelash extensions, massage, and make-up.

Don't be turned away by the 'hole in the wall' feel of this location b/c once you enter you'll forget all about it.  The interior is contemporary & well kept.

I was searching for a place to get a pedicure and found this full service salon that's close to my place. The salon is very nice; clean, pretty, and welcoming. Although its a full service salon, there's only one pedi chair and two mani stations so its probably not a place for a girls' day out.

I walked in on a weekday and got helped within fifteen minutes by Jennifer. She's really friendly and even offered me a drink when I got in. She did a wonderful job, the massage at the end was great! The salon also offers OPI and China Glaze polish, the big 3 free polishes YAY :)

The price was a tad bit high and I think I got a discount as a first time customer but the great service was worth it. I'll definitely stop by again when I decide to treat myself again.

I heard from a customer that this salon offers everything, but especially hair coloring & what not. I was just happened to be in this area & called in for a manicure & pedicure appointments. Luckily they had a slot for me.

Everyone was really nice & my lady knew exactly what to do for me. Not a regular salon where they rush you out, my lady massaged my legs & my hands for at least 15 minutes each! She did a wonderful job & also offer me a drink when I first got in.

The salon is clean, simple and upscale. I will definitely come back for more.

I left the salon with my beautiful mani & pedi for my date this weekend. I'm sure he'll be happy to see my pretty girly nails!

Found a deal online for 50% off a Brazilian wax here. Read the reviews here and bought the deal. Not a wax newbie, so I wasn't worried.

Walked into the salon area, which looked very professional and nice, and went to back room that was warm and had instrumental elevator music playing. Nothing offensive, just not my thing.

Kathy (who is friendly but a little kooky) first used a heated roll-on wax and paper strips. She repeatedly pressed down the used strips to pick up remaining wax. Painful, but no big deal. Everything at first went smoothly (no pun intended). Then, she switched to hard wax, and I noticed right away that she was double-dipping the wax wand into the pot. Gross.

All downhill from there. Kathy didn't understand how to hold skin taut and pull wax off properly, and she yanked the wax multiple times. Very painful. She repeatedly said how nervous she was about performing the job. I wanted to be sympathetic but it made me nervous... if she doesn't trust her own ability to be careful, how can I feel calm? Whenever something was painful, she would try to distract me by saying, "Yeah, baby, oh yeah, ok, yeah baby," which made me feel pretty damn awkward. One plus: she used tweezers to clean up stray hairs.

More painful than necessary and lack of hygienic practices. I couldn't imagine paying full price for a wax at this salon.

    PROS:
    -new place
    -nice decor
    -walk-ins welcome
-friendly & diverse staff (let's be honest--some salons consist of mainly asian ladies or caucasian women, but that is nonexistent here). fyi, i saw paschal and she is a chill woman.
    -cut, color, and wax services
-relatively priced well (I got a trim + long layers for $44)

    CONS:
    -I can't think of any yet :)

also, i can vouch for the history lesson than John G. wrote about. Paschal and Sara are from Hairshapers, and I'm glad they are accessible. They are both amazing stylists.

If there were more than 5 stars- I'd give this place 10!!

Coming from another salon in S. San Jose (won't mention the name of the salon) where I was unhappy with the customer service, I was seeking out someone who was closer inproximatey, but knew how to handle my "problematic hair".
I referred to Dionne, who specializes in natural hair treatment- was friendly, helpful, and flexible with her scheduling.  I've been going here a few months now, and couldn't be happier with the results .
I also referred my friend to Sarah, who was also happy with the results of her color and cut.

I HIGHLY reccommend trying this place out

Where do I start?....Well I guess my review is based on my experience really with the one person who I have had and continued to come back to for 10 years. Sara Tahiry.

She worked at this place that use to be in the same shopping center as Save Mart in Milpitas that was eventually bought out by the asian restaurant next to it and they ended up basically moving across the street to where Blockbuster video used to be....Currently My brain has melted and I cant remember the name.... OMG 20 Mins later...HAIRSHAPERS!! Well when Hairshapers moved it was its downfall, it was in a shopping center that is a ghost town not to mention Hairshapers was tucked away in the back in a super crappy location.

Anyways when I was 19-20 I was on my way out for a night on the town and needed a fresh haircut, I had been going to see a few different people there for a couple of years and They weren't around that Night it was about 30 mins before closing. I walked in and asked If I could possibly get a haircut and That I knew it was late...Everyone was kinda sitting on the couches and chatting, then they start looking the other way and talking BS about whatever to avoid me and I felt like an asshole. Well, Sara came out of the chair at her station and said she would help me. She cut my hair perfect first try which actually became my hairstyle for years, she was very polite and soft spoken as she is still today kinda shy and reserved. Even when people are doing the typical nonsense conversations in a salon she doesn't chime in much with anything negative to say. So when She does say something its usually funny to me because its so left field.

But anyways she finished my haircut I gave her a great tip which was more then double the cost of my haircut because that's how much I appreciated her giving me the time and same focus anyone else.I continued to do so every time for years...

Over the years I have never really been good about making appointments and keeping them. So, always kinda give her a call and see if she can fit me in somewhere, 9 out of 10 times she would do so no problem...I eventually left Milpitas and moved up to Alameda and it was getting more and more difficult to find the time to get down there to Hairshapers and when I was there I was having to constantly wait forever sometimes up to an hour and I finally gave up. I could tell things were not going good for Sara there..I tried going to a few other places. The places that were more local to me just were not makin it happen, I brought in pictures of how I liked my hair (pictures Of my hair cut perfect) and I either got people who didn't listen or just were not good enough. So I eventually gave up one step further and said Screw if I cant get my hair cut by Sarah on a regular timely basis I will just Shave my Head. I did so off and on for a few years, Id let it grow out and have Sara fix like 2 times a year....When I would see her She kept telling me about wanting to open her own Salon, or getting into a different place ect. She was always concerned about the expense of doing so and mostly what would the cost be of potentially losing her clientele that she worked so hard for years to build up. I Always told her I would tell as many people as I could about her places and would follow her the best I could....

I ended up losing contact with Sara when I moved out to San Ramon and found one person who could do a Sarah Haircut pretty well but then she quit one day and that was that, went to another places and it was such a cluster F*&K again I gave up. I went through my old cell phone Contacts list and Found Sarahs Cell number gave her a Call and THANK GOD she was still doing great hair and she finally made it happen and opened her own place. CREATIVE CONCEPTS.

I was so excited!! I made an appointment went down there she gave me a hug we made some small chat and she just said would you like the same as before or something different. I went for the same, she didn't ask me one question about size of clipper guards or how much on top, what gel I wanted nothing, she once again wowed me on how well she could do it every single time no matter how long I go in between how many screwed up haircuts I got from other people in the past.

Sara Tahiry is simply the best in my book. She eventually started coloring and cut my wife's hair as my wife went from short to long beautiful hair. I hired Sarah to style my wife's hair for our wedding which was on a sunday...at the time it was Sara's only day off. She offered to open her salon for my wife and her brides maids that day. The timimg was too difficult for my wife and the party so Sara Packed up her things and came to the Hotel and personally styled her hair and a few others I believe. I loved it absolutely beautiful!!

I'm going to end my long winded story on this note. Sara is in my opinion the best stylist I have ever had and in which I judge other stylist by. Please give her business some love.

I was very unhappy w/ this salon. I tried it out once and will never return! I went here based on the reviews, but was disappointed. The girl who did my nails talked constantly and that really annoyed me as I was trying to relax. When she did my pedicure she cut one of my toes and then when she did my manicure she did not finish off my nails properly and they were so sharp and cheap looking I was embarrassed to go to work w/ nails looking like that. I will never come back here! I give it 2 stars for the hospitality of the owner, because otherwise I would have given it 1 star.

i had THE WORST experience here.

i call ahead of time, make an appointment, they tell my my stylists' name.

so i go in there, tell them who i have an appointment with, and they give me some other girl who was NOT the girl they told me i had. okay. that's fine. except this girl cut my hair like i was the first head of hair she's ever gone at with a pair of scissors. mind you, i came prepared and brought a picture of EXACTLY what i wanted. and the result? NOTHING like the picture i brought. i wanted long, gradual layers, and instead? i got two layers, a long one, and one that was a good four inches shorter. it was horrible. and she did a pathetic job trimming my bangs.

oh, also, they don't accept credit or debit, so bring cash or check. and if you don't, there's an ATM at a liquor store a block away, but it looks like you might get mugged before you get there, so be careful.

the other reviewers must've have a stylist who was on vacation the day i went, because i can't even describe how mortified i was with the job my stylist (i use that term loosely) did on my hair.

Well, I have been debating on where to get my hair done..so I finally decided what the hell, I will go to creative concepts.  I saw Sara who is so sweet, she did a great job on my hair.  The only complaints that I have are, there was no receipt as to what was done and how much each item to get done cost and the fact that I got there at 9:30 am and ended up leaving at 1:45pm.  I guess my hair wouldn't take but I have never had that problem before so I guess there is a first time for everything.  I am satified with my hair and will for sure come again and even recommend this place to peeps.

Wow, finally I have found a place that can give me salon services, in a clean, well appointed, friendly, very knowledgeable, caring, and reasonable pricing environment in Milpitas. I have tried other salons... Beauty First and have had less than stellar service, and RUDE treatment. Dionne was wonderful. She took the time to ask questions and offer suggestion. She was a consummate professional. I felt pampered and honored. I highly recommend this salon. Go and bring all your friends. Please note they only take cash or checks. But a minor issue for such great service. Thanks!!!

Update: They now take credit cards. They get busy, so plan on staying a while :-)

I would def. recommend Creative Concepts and Sara to anyone looking for new salon in North San Jose/Milpitas!
