Crazy Water is without doubt one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long while.  It has a wonderful intimate atmosphere and serves highly delicious food without a hint of pretension.  Fantastic.

Definitely make a reservation.  My family didn't anticipate how full this restaurant would be when we stopped in for a birthday dinner last Sunday.  The hostess, however, was incredibly helpful in arranging a table for us later in the evening.  When we returned, the staff greeting made us feel completely welcome.

And the food was everything I want in a meal.  Most of the entrees consist of simple ingredients (the kind you can pronounce) cooked to perfection.  The flavors were rich and well blended, and the portions were generous without being excessive.  Not one of us had any complaints about the four different entrees we ordered.

My only critique is that I would have liked to see a couple of other options on offer.  Although I do like a pared-down menu, I'd love to see what Crazy Water comes up with as a vegetarian entree.  Likewise, I'd like some other options to the mostly chocolate-based sweets on their dessert menu.

Crazy Water was perfect for a special occasion meal, but I wouldn't feel out of place stopping in for a casual dinner on any other evening.  Just make sure to call ahead.

I ate here with my wife a couple weeks ago and cannot stop talking about it. The American Fusion food is excellent and exceptionally fresh.

We ate around 7pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy yet. The dining room is very small, so be prepared to feel close. It's almost European style, but not quite. I started off with the endive salad and my wife had the beat salad. Her beat salad was fresh and crisp, with a nice amount of goat cheese. My endive salad was huge was also delicious. It had a creamy cheddar sauce with candied walnuts and apples topped with nice, crispy bacon that was still bubbling from the frying pan. The combination of salty and sweet was great.

For the entrees, my wife had the special which were two soft shell crab lightly fried and served with green rice, which tasted like mint, basil and parsley. Very  clean tasting. The soft shell crab was lightly fried in a cornmeal breading, which gave it a more buttery, mellow taste. I had the flat iron steak served in a balsamic demi glaze with bleu cheese fritters, wilted spinach and a wedge of potatoes au-gratin. The steak was perfectly cooked and the blue cheese fritters were a nice strong accompaniment to the balsamic, which took on a semi sweet taste. The food was so fresh and well prepared that I was blown away. The kitchen there is very small and I admire how the chefs are able to manage to get out such fantastic food so quickly and consistently.

I want to point out that the portions are very big compared to that of other restaurants in this price range, which is a great deal in and of itself. The service was also excellent; our waitress stopped by our table just the right amount of times. I cannot wait to go back and sample some of their other offerings.

Wonderful food, cozy atmosphere.  Great tasting, upscale food without the pretension!  Love it!  Highly recommend the goat cheese and swiss chard tart to start.

I heart this place.  Went there for the second time last night, and the place fully delivered.  Sat at the bar, read the paper, and had fantastic beer, wine, wontons and halibut.  The place was bustling (which I love), yet comfy and relaxed with great music and a great vibe.  I'll be back.

oh, it's crazy. sometimes crazy good for sure.  The atmosphere's a little weird for my tastes, but it's homey and I like the locally owned and operated angle.  my wife and i tried about 4 items from the menu and all were solid options for a return visit.

This is a fun restaurant adventure for those not afraid to venture out of their comfort zone.

I remember the food being really good, but the place was pretty crammed. Cool atmosphere and all, I think we had the specials. All in all it was over 100 bones for two for dinner, drinks and dessert.

Overall Review 9 of 10
Crazy Water is a wonderfully small restaurant in deep in Milwaukee's Fifth Ward. It sits in an old renovated house, with the kitchen right in the room in the front window. They have a great seafood selection, with an accompanying wine list and deserts. The quality and service were bar none, and the atmosphere was done very well. We will be going back.

What We Had 9 of 10
Seafood! Crazy Water seems to specialize in this style, so we had Shrimp and Scallops. As this was a celebration dinner, we also had the Goat Cheese and Tomato appetizer. The food was rich and filling, even though the portions we as small as the space. The lava cake desert was wonderfully presented as well, but you should order this in advance, as with any other lava cake. All in all, a wonderful dinner.

Atmosphere 8 of 10
As before, Crazy Water is a very cozy little place . . . and the recommend reservations for the weekends. They have great tin ceilings and a quiet back room. The kitchen is in the dining room, right up by the front door, and seems small but they can definitely put out some great food.

Others 9.5 of 10
Thursdays are half off bottles of wine nights. Parking on the street is a bit sketchy because of the neighborhood, but you should really just get over it.

I was hoping for a cute little place to go to with a friend of mine but we were both sadly disappointed.  This place is so small with the poor chef stuck up front in the window cooking near the bar.  The service was very sketchy..  our server was nice but she'd disappear and leave us stranded.  We don't know where she went this place was so small it was hard to belive we couldn't find her.

We ordered a cheese plate which was ok.  Some odd dips/breads but some of the stuff was ok.  My salad was good, but nothing special.  My friends meat was totally overcooked.  I was suprised that some of the items on the menu they ran out of.  I guess because it's so small they don't have room for stuff.  It's just an odd little place.

This is one of those restaurants that you should stay away from if you're vegetarian. Can one really write a review when the dinner in question comprises solely of a bunch of green shoots, stems and leaves and cheese fritters to shore that up?
With the downtown construction nightmare, this diner (sorry but a few tables thrown into a small place doesn't a restaurant make!) isn't exactly a breeze to find, speaking of breeze, we didn't get much of that at the table we were seated at! The owners are a friendly bunch, but in my books, Crazy Water would be a page I would willingly skip

This is my favorite little secret in Milwaukee. An old Walkers Point bar turned into a cool and smooth laid back restaurant with amazing food, good prices, and a tremendous vibe and feel. Romantic without pushing the sappyness level over the edge. Relaxing without making one fall asleep. Just perfect in my opinion for a classy Milwaukee restaurant. I have yet to find anyone who doesn't like this place. Be on the lookout for their half off wine nights.

I have eaten here many times and the service has always been impeccable. I love how cozy and quaint it is in there. The decor is wonderful ecclectic mix of colors. The food is phenominal. I've usually ordered the steak specials or dishes on the menu. This is one of the few restaurants that understand "rare". I have also had a few fish dishes as well and the fish is always perfectly tender and well seasoned. I always order the BBQ Shrimp the sauce it comes in is lick your plate clean good. Wine list is wonderful and they have generous pour.
