This store is amazing.  This particular location is fantastic.  The set-up is fantastic.  When my husband and I started to register there for wedding gifts, we were like kids in a candy store.  To add to our glee, the customer service was extremely helpful and very courteous.

Honestly, I would love to move to this location.  Oh yea, even cooler is the awesome view of Tysons Corner (and a peak into Georgetown) from this location's third floor.  So awesome!

You know when you little and you'd say something like...I don't know. "I like this crayon." And then your smart ass friend would say something like, "Yeah, well I like this crayon more." And then you would smartly retort, "Well, I LOVE this crayon!" And then your friend would throw back the inevitable, "Well, if you love it then why don't MARRY IT?!"

People, if I could marry a store, I would marry Crate and Barrel. We would honeymoon in Fiji and make sweet, sweet love and then I would feed it candy and chocolate while it sat in the living room and watched its stories.

Okay, no seriously. Crate and Barrel is my favorite furniture store [EVER] for a few reasons, including but not limited to...

1. Their furniture design has clean, often modern lines [but dabbles in classical if you're feeling like going there].

2. I very rarely have trouble finding someone to help me and everyone is always, ALWAYS friendly.

3. They have beautiful vases and glassware that won't put a huge hole in your wallet. I have, on several occasions, gone to the grocery store and picked up flowers and a card, swung by C&B and gotten a vase, and given them on birthdays or the like. And all in 15 minutes or less! [AND, if you've got people to gift who are turning 21 or someone who likes the drink, wink wink, the roly shot glasses and bar set have served me well as gifts for years. You can mix, you can match, and you can get away with spending less than $50 and still come off classy.]

4. Their cookware department is nice. While they might not be able to compete with Williams & Sonoma in terms of selection, the things they do have [and it's not a small selection, don't be fooled] are of excellent quality. They also carry Circulon, which for whatever reason I've had trouble finding anywhere else.

5. It's PRETTY.

Something that I've always thought is interesting is that, unlike a lot of cookie cutter retail stores, Crate and Barrel actually has an internal architect team that design their buildings. They're also really good about varying their inventory from location to location. If you go into the one at Tysons and check out the one from Clarendon, you'll see some familiar pieces but the overall decor appeal is pretty different.

Did I mention that I love C&B?

Wow - this place was great!  I mean, it felt like the first day I walked into a graduate school class out of undergrad.  That feeling you get when your previous acquisitions were from Ikea and now you're moving to the big leagues.  This, is Crate and Barrel *with the ESPN theme in the background*.

Everything was painstakingly organized and set up.  I mean, seriously, I would not take kids here.  If they knock crap over, granted some items are cheap ($2 for a water glass), they're going to still cause a couple of hundred dollars worth of damage.  The amazing part though was that you did periodically hear the clattering of a dish or glass hitting the floor - only you didn't hear breakage.  The staff was amazingly non-chalant about it - they didn't rush over to see what the ruckus was or approach waving receipts of the "you break it you bought it" variety.

I did like the fact that they pack the hell out of your purchase so when it tumbles around in the trunk, it will still show up in one piece.  My only complaint is that you have to use baskets so if you're looking to buy dishes, beware.  The basket will get heavy.  Carts would be nice.

Otherwise, I think I found a place that I'll be using to furnish the house.  Now if I can just control my wife's spending in there....

The product presentation here is outstanding.  The store is an uncluttered space full of bright lighting that lifts colors off the store's neutral palette.  The designers have made everything look luscious. Sensitivity to color and texture work together. Crate & Barrel is a visual pleasure.

Shopping here is fun.  They carry a huge variety of kitchen tools, dinnerware, glassware and serving pieces.  Plus, there are picture frames, clear glass vases, assorted serving bowls and small kitchen appliances. You can find woven rugs and pillows, upholstered furnishings and lamps--just about all the items needed to make a house a home.  Their convenient wedding registry accompanied by a willingness to ship goods without hassle is a wonderful surprise.

I particularly appreciate their notification (via email) about the status of your shipments.  I recently sent two boxes to SF and shipping let me know that they went out promptly, including tracking information.

NOTE:  They issue a special gift receipt that does not reveal the price, so if you prefer a standard receipt that allows an actual cash or credit refund, say so.    Parking is below the store, just across the street from Tyson's Corner Center.

I love this store, some stuff is a bit expensive but some of the houseware is really reasonable.

I registered here for my wedding. The service was great and if you have a gift card...they give you CASH back.

If you want to get furniture there, the sales associate by the name of HAL is GREAT.

Also, check out their outlet in old town!
