I've bought/sold, found apts, jobs and events on CL for about 10yrs.

The buying part is fairly easy. However, why post an ad if you do not respond to emails?

Selling stuff was easy too, I think I was lucky that my people weren't flakes.

Getting employment via CL was also a mixed bag. At the time I applied to dozens of positions, and maybe 25% got back to me with interviews (I guess that's still a good return). Some never responded after applying, which is very annoying and unprofessional. The job I got there was crappy but I was there for a year, it was something to do.

It's usually worth a look to their events tab to see if there's anything good, or you can post something of your own.

But it takes time to sift through all the junk there. I find that CL buying is best when you aren't looking for anything specific. Example: We have been looking for a dining set. I set up the filters and clicked through the ads, which sometimes list other items for sale. I caught a glimpse of a blue wingback chair in one of the pics..it was for sale! We have its mate, purchased 10yrs ago. So we made arrangements to buy this one.

We've also purchased a red English phone booth, a whiskey barrel bar, and a cool wine rack/storage thingie all from CL...without specifically searching for them.

We have NOT found a dining set (specific item) and decided to buy from a real store. Boo'urns.

Anyways, CL is a nice time suck. It has a simple interface that you can view even under the slowest of internet speeds and their Rants/Raves and Missed Connections are amusing to read.

It's simple!
It works!

I furnished most of my apartment with items from moving and garage sales from craigslist.
I have tried to date from c/l.

I have volunteered from c/l.

I found a part time job through them. I got another on-call job from c/l.

Scroll it, troll it, find interesting things which round out your life.
** NOTE It is an internet service. I do advise using caution.. don't  give anyone there or anywhere else  your social security number.
Decide if you wish to use your entire contact info when submitting resumes to blind ads.

I have used Craigslist for a few years now and it works if people are willing to work with it. There are so many flakes or people who will try to lowball you on prices, it can get frustrating at times. Another frustrating thing is the fact that there are so many scams on there. We were looking for a house not too long ago and almost everyone I responded to replied back with some scammy stuff. Not cool. The scammers are everywhere on CL...the selling section, job section, and the housing section. And what someone else said about never getting replies about jobs...that's SO true. I have responded to countless ads for employment and for every 1 reply I get back there were 9 that didn't bother. But like I said, if you can weed through the scammers and flakes CL can be a useful tool.

OK so its a free site for the most part

and you can go there and sell shit or buy shit or just vent about shit, or just be the evil hateful shit head that you are and post mean shit.

but most people go here to sell stuff they don't need anymore or to get enough bucks to pay the bills when short or they just need a hook up you can get that here too weather it be weed or ass

or maybe you just don't want to pay full price for something like me, I scored a new I-Pod 80 gig today with video for a bill and a half, and they even gave me some portable speakers with it Score !!!

I have used it for all the above probably over the years except for the weed I don't partake anymore even tho I think it should be legal but that's a whole other box of worms in its self

and if you need a good laugh read the best of section

Craigslist is the shit, yo! I've gotten my place and my J-O-B through craigslist. I've met great friends, had great dates,  and not so great friends and dates through craigslist. I got into pole dancing through craigslist (classes NOT a job, folks). I sold a new entertainment stand real quick. I did try to sell some jeans with no success but hey, I still gots nothing but love for this site.

Craigslist can pretty much get you whatever you want. Want a BBW? A place in Capitoi Hiil? An old hipster bike? Someone to hook you up with the green? Try craigslist!

Craigslist I love you! If you are one of the two or three people remaining in the world that don't know about craigslist - get on it! Even the Pittsburgh CL is an active community of people that buy, sell, offer services (of all imaginable kinds) and discuss things. The skies the limit with this website!

Craigslist is the best. I have found my house, job, car, snowboard, bikes, and various other items from this useful free classified posting service. F-ebay go Craigslist.

the free section has some entertaining offers from time to time to kill odd some office boredom.

Craigslist IS great. Get a job, post a job, buy a dog, a frog, or even some used logs. Need some love, post an ad. Need tickets to a gig, check out craig, he's got everything just to make you glad.

Seriously, craigslist is a neato place to buy or sell many things.........but what's up with Craigslist flakes? Can we start a thread entitled "this one craigslist flake....................." I'm sure we all have at least 3 stories, right? (like the guy who showed up 4 hours late, and drunk and his excuse was that he was shopping at Fred Meyer?)

Where else can you buy cheap used shit, sell it the next day plus get a non-reciprocal bj from your neighborhood BBW?  Well, Craigslist, of course!

No, really...this site serves it's purpose and in a perfect world it would be a perfect site with perfect patrons.  However, the growing number of flakes on this site is getting more and more annoying by the day.  If you make an appt. to come pick something up, please be sure to show up or have the common decency to call ahead if plans change.  Otherwise, you're just being a real rude mutha fucka.
