Review from wendy s.
conveniently, i managed to forget the start date for school, and so was rather stunned when an email arrived reminding me that i was due in to report for duty. the mister, seeing my face drop and my eyes glistening with unshed tears, hastened to render his aid.
'what can i do to make your last day of freedom as fabulous as possible?' he inquired.
'well,' i hesitated. 'how would you feel about heading over to cowboy palace saloon for beginner line dancing lessons this afternoon?'
the mister never missed a beat. 'sounds great. absolutely.'
which explains how we ended up clutching our jameson's, peering out dubiously at the relatively full dance floor while folks ranging from barely 21 to reaching for 90 hustled their booties to various country tunes with greater grace and confidence that either of us possessed. nevertheless, come the announcement that the beginner session was about to start, we downed our shots and assumed the position, ready and eager to master the cowboy hustle and power slide.
did mastery occur? not by a long shot.
was a good time had? without doubt.
and, to top things off, along with our drinks came a paper plate for the buffet. i don't know if they feed you on a daily basis, but on sunday night around 5:00, food was most certainly abundant. i thought i was hallucinating when i saw the mounds of jello, but then again, it's a soft food that goes down easy, and there were lots of old folk so maybe it was a wise choice. the mister scarfed down beans, bbq something or other, potatoes...1 Previous Review: Show all »

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA
I've been going here for over 20 years and I have a love hate relationship with the CP.The 2 bartenders from whatever Eastern bloc country their from are rude and slow. You can order the same round of drinks and the prices change all night. They must be stealing because I have no idea how they make any tips. The waitresses try hard in a tough enviroment.
You have regulars that hoard tables and drink ice water all night. Seriously how does this place make any money? I almost fell of my bar stool laughing when I saw a 70 yr old woman with a brand new boob job.If you love people watching this is the place.
I enjoyed the dance lessons and the instructor was great. She was patient with me.
I'm not into dances that take 25 steps then you hop in the air and act like your lassoing someone.Be careful if your a beginner dancer stay in the middle. The regular assholes will run over you on purpose.
I made the mistake of putting my jacket on stool and the table was open. When i came back from the dance floor my jacket was on the juke box and 5 people crowded around the table. Some skanky looking woman with no eyebrows says"This is our table and my husbands a cop".LMAO...Be careful on Sat nights. There is this giant guy 6'4 at least 260 lbs who loves to line dance. When he dances he lifts one leg in the air and then tries to crush the floor.I happened to be dancing next to him and he broke 3 of my toes.As I'm laying on the ground shrieking like a school girl he hops over me and tells me he lost 120 lbs line dancing.Ummm thanks JUMBO.Next thing I know this 65 yr old woman comes over and helps me up.
I walk over to her table and look up and she scared the eff out of me. Low cut dress with so much lipstick on I thought the circus was in town.I head towards the back door and there are 20 smokers blocking the entrance. The way they were smoking so fast you would think all of em are on death row.The bucket of beers is the way to go if you can get the price ahead of time.Just don't go near those 2 commie bartenders..All in all the place is fun, weird and the bands are excellent. The place is full of freaks, rude people. After consuming a few bucket o beer I went home with the 70 yr old with the brand new boob job.She makes a great omelet. -

I couldn't believe a bar or people like this even existed in LA LOL This is my favorite bar in surrounding LA!! I am from the midwest, and just moved here not to long ago. I have been trying to find a good country bar with a midwestern feel and my friend suggested this place. I fell in love with it! The drinks are strong, the people are awesome and down home. I am thinking of moving to chatsworth so I can be close to this bar LOL The music awesome, and the dancing greeaatttt!! It is my favorite bar here, and it reminds me so much of my midwest hometown. Whenever I miss the midwest I always come back here. Good hearted geniune people, great music, and drinks. Who knew this exists in LA LOL Love it!

been reading the reviews here and laughing at the negative ones. I am a local and go to the Palace off and on. I have turned some friends onto the place. As far as redneck goes I think its more industry techies and ranch folk. Its funny folks here in Chatsworth aren't very friendly but you go to the Palace and people are very friendly. I have gone alone many times and people come up and talk to you. I even had a group of women invite me to sit at their table. The only real bad experience I had was when I was drunk off my ass and trying to do the dance lessons. The guy giving them kicked me off the floor but the folks taking the lessons told me not to listen to him and dragged me back on the floor. And another time I brought a woman I had met on FB with me,she got drunk and started kissing me on the dance floor. I thought we would be killed, two women making out on the Dance floor. I kept telling her to stop it. Well guess what people were really nice to us. We weren't killed. The place is packed on the weekends and every year around march they have a Buck Owens festival. I have to say there is one bartender who is hardcore and I think ya all know who I am talking about. But I get a kick out of her stern euro demeanor. She is a character. I would like to see Hank 3 play there and more old school country. The place is classic and a big part of the San Fernando western history. Come on down and bring an open mind.

Review from K B.
Newhall, CA
This follow up review is written from the perspective of being married to a guy whose band plays at Cowboy Palace once in a while.
Cowboy Palace has completely lost all its charm. The Cowboy Palace clientele are very cliquey. They always have been, but it never bothered me. I kind of found it amusing. That is, until I started showing up early to Cowboy Palace while my husband set up his gear to play for the evening. That is when I saw just how cliquey and rude and obnoxious a lot of the clientele are. Not to mention the bartenders and the owner's wife. Man, the owner's wife is a piece of work.
There are customers who come in at 2pm (maybe earlier) to throw jackets over "their" tables so they can keep them reserved for that evening. Most of the regulars seem to have "their" particular table and god forbid you happen take a regular's table. The problem isn't so much with the booths (what's left of the booths), but with the tall tables surrounded by barstools. If you take a regular's table, they will crowd you and use your table for their drinks. Don't make the mistake of leaving a barstool open at your table. The regulars can smell an open barstool a mile away and if you're at a regular's table and there is an open barstool, they swoop in, drape a jacket over it and put a fresh drink on the table in front of the barstool to mark their territory. Then all their weird, cliquey, friends crowd around the one barstool.
Then there are the Nazi line dance instructors. If you are the band, damn you to hell if you try to set up during the dance instructors time. You might be able to get away with it if you don't make an ounce of noise and dear god, do not step even one toe on the dance floor as you're wheeling, carrying or dragging in your gear. If you do, there will be hell to pay.
Anyone who has been to Cowboy Palace more than once probably knows the crazy lady in the poufy square-dance-looking dress. She's a regular and can almost always be found there during the line dance instructions. This crazy woman body slammed my husband while he was trying to carry his gear to the stage. I wasn't kidding about not stepping foot on the dance floor during line dance if you're the band. One of the bartenders saw the crazy poufy-dress woman body slam my husband and scolded her for it.
Then there's the owner's crazy wife. When my husband played there last, the crazy wife ran up to the band screaming YOU DIDN'T PLAY AN HOUR! YOU DIDN'T PLAY AN HOUR! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PLAY AN HOUR! And yes, the band is supposed to play an hour for the first set, but no one told the band. It was always 45 on and 15 off until recently. So crazy woman just starts screaming at the band.
Soda, water and I suppose coffee (assuming they serve coffee) are free to the band. While the band was still playing, the guitar player asked his girlfriend if she would get him a bottle of water. The bartender gave the girlfriend all kinds of grief about how only the band was supposed to get the drinks. Oh my gawd, it's just freaking water.1 Previous Review: Show all »

How bad could it be if they shot Toby Keith's " I Love This Bar" music video here? I mean really?!
Man I love honkey tonks. There is just something so comforting about country culture. I love it. The free dance lessons EVERY night can't be beat. The bartenders know your name and HOLY HELL they pour a strong drink. (if you plan on going out for a drink after work and you have work the next day - stay away from the Texas Tea...it's like 3 drinks in 1)
It's a down home good time. Aint no cover charge, come as you are...Listed in: I like to drink.

I Love This Bar! They actually shot the Music video for Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" here.
Great people, great service, fair prices, live music & dance lessons everynight. Talent show on Monday nights, with live band & prizes.
If you're going during the week beware, they close between 12a-1a on weeknights. On the weekends they stay open until 2a.
Fridays & Saturday night are pretty packed, & pretty calm from Sun - Thursday.
They rent the place out for Movies, TV Shows & Music Videos during the week, so call first to make sure they are open. -

As horrible as it may sound, I come here for the entertainment value - to laugh at drunk middle aged hicks looking for dates. Got pushed off the dance floor by an 80+ y.o woman in her tutu and garter belt. She was taking her line dancing seriously and didn't appreciate this newbies attempt at Tumbleweed-ing. haha.
Interesting place though for a change of atmosphere.
Here's a clip of what the saloon & crowd looks like...

I cannot express in words how much I regret the $6 dollars in gas it cost me to drive here. I'm going to buy the cowboy saloon just so I can bull-doze it to the ground. Unprofessional, uncourteous & incredibly rude to guests of the establishment who aren't their "locals/usuals"... To the ppl actually spending money, I'm beside my self, never written a yelp review before, so upset I signed up just to write this review!

Rolled into this place at about 10 pm on a Saturday evening for a friend's birthday party (He's a Texan and it definitely showed in the choice of party location.)
The first thing I noticed upon coming in was a nice, big Confederate flag hanging on the wall. This should tell you everything you need to know about the diversity in this location - essentially none. The crowd skewed toward older and whiter, but it's a cowboy bar, so that's to be expected. The plus side to this? Loads of non-ironic, non-hipster awesome mustaches. I felt out of place there having a full beard and wish I had trimmed down to just a lip sweater before entering this place.
The beer seemed like it was reasonably priced, though it might not have been. I'm still not too sure on it. I ordered a total of 5 beers (and nothing fancy - MGD) and my tab came to $15.75... Though, I'm not sure if that was for 5 or for 3 - a friend and I ordered at the same time and we weren't sure if the beers ended up on the proper tabs or all on one of them (and he left early so I wasn't able to check.)
The real pain came when it was time to order from the bar. The bartenders didn't seem to want to serve us and there was at least a 10 minute wait any time I wanted to step up and order. When I was finally graced with the bartender's presence, she was short, rude, and didn't seem to want to be troubled with taking my order. This, coupled with the above confusion on tabs didn't leave a good taste in my mouth (and it wasn't just because I was drinking MGD).
The high point of the bar is that it has live country music and dancing on a giant dance floor every night. Country isn't my favorite, but I'll take a live band over a DJ any time.
All-in-all, it was an interesting evening that was mostly enjoyable. If you want to listen to live country and take part in line dances, you're going to love this place. If you want a friendly bartender, you're probably not walking away impressed. If you're a minority, there's a giant beacon on the wall reminding you of that fact. -
Review from Abby O.
Sacramento, CA
Kind of terrifying. If you're looking for a redneck heaven, Cowboy Palace is it. I'm not at all saying that it wasn't enjoyable, but it definitely isn't for the faint of heart. All over the walls, are confederate flags, which is strange to me.
The crowd is... Um... Unique. Very, very... very unique. Lots of older men, and older couples. The live music was tons of fun, and usually kind of funny. I loved watching everybody line dance. One time, I went and an old man randomly took me onto the dance floor, and taught me to dance like a real cowboy! Ha ha ha... It was truly an interesting experience.
I don't remember the alcohol prices, but I do remember they weren't all that great. A red bull was 8.00. Are you effing joking me? The lady bartender even commented that she thought it was rather ridiculously priced. Oh, well.
All in all, I like going to this place for a good, silly, fun time. NOT a place I would recommend for a date at all, but it was fun in groups. YAY! -
Review from Louie F.
Burbank, CA
If your idea of a kick-ass night involves one or more of the following...
(a) cowboy hats
(b) cowboy boots
(c) large belt buckles
(d) live country band
(e) cheep alcohol
(f) no cover charge
...then you have to join me at Cowboy Palace. Easily one of the best (only?) country bars in the Valley.
Here's the thing though, this isn't your typical bar, so there are some rules that must be followed:
This isn't the place to order your "apple-tinis", "cosmos" or "lemon drops" at. The only two drinks that you are allowed to order are beer and whiskey, because frankly, that's what cowboys drink.
Ladies, don't plan on bumpin' and grindin' on this dance floor because there isn't a DJ spinning anything by Ke$ha, Jay-Z or Timbaland. In fact, they do something really old school at Cowboy Palace....they use an actual band to play music! Most of the time, the bands are great and play everything from the classic country favorites to today's hits. If you don't know how to line dance or two-step, don't worry -- somebody will show you! -

If you want to get away from the city folk... you can park your horse here! This place looks like a barn & feels like one too. Learn to line dance and then spot a bar fly or two.
Ordering a drink? Don't make it hard on yourself, get it in a bottle.
It happens. I've lived it. I learned to line dance. I'm out. -

Throw on your daisy dukes and cowgirl boots for some ol' fashioned two steppin'!
I had the BEST time here!
Live music & dance lessons every night, bartenders and servers are super friendly! I did have the unfortunate mishap of getting in the way of some seasoned dancers that were all business, but there was no way anything could ruin my good time there!
It is a bit of a treck from where I live in West LA but TOTALLY worth it for a taste of where I come from in the South!
loooove me some men in wranglers and cowboy boots. A little bit of an older crowd but I'd rather hang with gentleman that know how to throw a lady around on the dance floor than a Hollywood tool ANY day! -
Review from Jim A.
Los Angeles, CA
Well shit-howdy Mary-Ellen, I think I done stumbled upon a road apple. This honky-tonk is a good ol' boys haven that's only missing a spittoon, the town's resident hooker, and maybe a game of 7-card stud back on some corner table. Sitting in the place made me feel as if there was a chuck wagon outside next to the hitching post where I left my horse Lightning. The Confederate Flag is almost as big as the balls on the men that fought the north. (Isn't "civil war" an oxymoron?)
I would find it hard to imagine anyone that moseys in, turning around and leaving. It's an experience. Never mind that I was sauced on the Cadillac margaritas from neighboring Los Toros (review to come). Upon entering, you immediately feel you stepped through a portal and straight into a random bar in South Carolina.
What I found amusing was the fashion time warp some are (happily) in. Did you know there is a minimum height restriction of 12' for ceiling fans in country bars? It's part of the Big Country-Ass-Woman's Hair Protection Act. Some of them were in jeans that took four sisters to help pull on. There were some mom jeans with women in them too. Luckily, no one in overalls that night, but if you tuck in your shirt, put on your shit-kickers and your best poor-man's Stetson, you're in! Actually, they don't care how you're dressed. You're in anyway, so just drop on in.
I don't have a country bone in my body, but with live country music, people line dancing, pool and a cold drink it's simply a recipe that feeds the smile muscles. The greatest thing about this bar is, it in no way tries to be anything other than what it is, and does not try to please the masses. It has the 'this is what I am' attitude, and many feel at home with that. -
Review from Roman T.

We found a bar with Line Dancing in the Valley. Cowboys and bikers inside a Western Saloon-looking place with a HUGE dance floor.
If you ever wanted to try Line Dancing... and grab a few cheap drinks while you're at it.... then this place is for you. Everyday from 7:00pm-8:30/9pm they have free lessons (saw it on a flier... I swear. lol)
Live music. And they have a different band almost every day.
When we got there, there were actually quite a few cute girls dancing but as time went by we started noticing a slightly older crowd and the young ladies started disappearing. Kinda sucked because it should be that the more I drink the cuter and younger the girls get .... NOT UGLIER AND OLDER! (Sorry ladies...)
While it's not really my type of bar, I thought this place was pretty decent because during certain songs they announce specials that last as long as the song, such as: $3 Jack Daniel's shots and/or $3 Beers. They do this about 3-5 times a night and it's an awesome way to get messed up. They also have $5 Jager shots.
Don't let my rating fool you.... if you like country music, line dancing and cheap whiskey... then you seriously need to check this place out. (Check out the pictures)Listed in: Booze + Roman = What more can…

I like these little bars that take you away from the city and make you feel like you're in a whole different state. There's no Hollywood pretentious crap here.. just people having fun.
Pros
-Live country bands
-A cool bar with a whole lot to look at
-Cheap drinks
-No cover charge
-Lots of people two stepping, line dancing, etc.
-Lively.. a bit crowded but it makes it fun
Cons
-Not much dancing room on that little dance floor
-Far... from me anyway.
Put on your cowboy hat & boots.. and come have some drinks. -

If you're one them "I like all music except country music" types I ain't going try to convince you otherwise 'cause I'm feelin lonesome, on'ry and mean. But I will say this... Ya know who else doesn't like country music? ... The TERRORISTS. They don't want to take away our freedoms, they want to take away our Willie Nelson. So keep that in mind before I staple old glory to your ass and ship you to Iran.
Now that I've thoroughly re-enforced every negative stereotype you have about people who listen to country music let me say this: Leave your stereotypes about country music fans at the door, please, cause we don't take kindly to people who don't take kindly. This here is a great shit kickin bar in a righteous California Honky Tonk way. People of all colors, races and creeds are welcomed warmly. Sundays provide free BBQ dinners with live music and free dance lessons. The bar bands are talented and competent and play everything from George Jones to Brookes and Dunn and the occasional original tune. Ice cold buckets of Bud are served up right.
Start your day off with a hike to the Old Stagecoach Road a.k.a. the "Devil's Slide" in the hills above Chatsworth Park and end up at this bar for a well deserved beer. Makes for a hell of a day if can find the right lady who would appreciate such a thing. -

Cheap booze, no cover, live bands! This plays is great. I am not a purveyor of Country music, nor am I a hater of it, but if I am going to listen to it, I will be at Cowboy Palace. It is like a bar lost in time, in a good way.
I will definitely be going back! -

You like country style drinking and dancing? This is for you.
Pros: Great country bands. Cheap drinks. Fun crowd. Cougars galore. Fantastic theming. Country two step and line dancing.
Cons: Cheap drinks (american lagers anyone?), steep barrier for entry if you're not a country fan. Older crowd. Gets hot from all the people dancing. Usually crowded (con?).
Overall: Great place to have fun if you're into western style. Here's a tip, wear a cowboy hat...you'll fit right in and meet some cool people. -

I'm not much into country music or line dancing, so perhaps if i were, this place would rank higher. If I'm in the area, I'm at Los Toros anyhow.
But, the place was an interesting stop on our drinking tour. The people were very nice, although we clearly looked like we didnt belong and got the requisite looks.
The place was a bit crowded and hot; older crowd and, as expected, tons of cowboy hats and Wranglers!
Definitely doesn't feel like LA in here! -

The Cowboy Palace Saloon offers free line-dancing classes daily.
Came here on Father's Day with my mom for a line dance class taught by Jill and Charlotte (4-6pm). It was quite a sight to see the range of ages of dancers, however I was the youngest one by at least 20 years. Having experience in line-dancing from when I was younger, the class wasn't too difficult but it was fun and I could tell my mom enjoyed it a lot.
With the purchase of a drink/water, you get to eat at their "buffet". I found that word to be misleading as it was more like a self-serve dinner. I had the turkey, potatoes, salad, watermelon, and tapioca pudding (the only other food left was ham). The turkey's gravy was quite salty, the potatoes were a little bland, and the pudding was a little too sweet. However the watermelon was just perfectly ripe and a great source of keeping myself hydrated as I didn't have a drink (my mom's friend got the drink, I got the food).
The people seemed friendly with each other and just enjoyed the company as they all shared an interest in line-dancing. While the food wasn't great, I thought their free line-dancing classes were a great idea to engage active older adults in a fun activity. -

When I heard where we were going, I asked two questions:
First question: What's a Chatsworth?
Last question: When can we go back?
The Cowboy Palace Saloon is incredible! I had never line danced - but showed up early with pals - grabbed a table - had buckets of $4 beers - and eventually mustered up the tipsy courage to try. If you're willing to get there early enough - there are free dance lessons every night of the week (and on Saturdays they offer couples classes).
The patrons are so friendly, they will literally teach you once you're up on the dance floor. Customers come in all shapes, ages, and sizes. It's a refreshing change from WeHo - where each bar seems to have a uniform, hair color, and age requirement. We danced until the Confederate flag didn't bother us anymore.
Highly recommended for a great time and a change of pace. -

This bar is great. I didn't realize that there were any decent bars here in the valley and was pleasantly surprised. The bar's pretty cozy with a dance floor in the middle. It has a great country theme going straight out of the movies.
They had Guiness Extra Stout. That won me over on their beer selection right there. Enough said.
Live (country) band and no cover charge? Sign me up.
If you're looking for a comfortable bar to just kick back, relax, and have a drink, I would recommend this place. -
Review from John G.
Canoga Park, CA
I've been dancing at the Cowboy Palace since I moved back to Los Angeles in 1895. I've lived all over the US including Texas for 13 years, and this is one of if not the best honky-tonks in California. This place should be in Texas.
If you're looking for the Urban Cowboy kind of thing, keep looking as this is not it. But, if what you want is good country-western music from live band every night of the week, inexpensive drinks, friendly people and fun time, then this IS the place for you.
The only drawback for me is I would prefer a larger dance floor as it does get crowded on the weekends.
Free dance lessons, free BBQ on Sundays, live bands, pool tables, friendly bartenders, and no cover charge (except maybe for New Years) - what more can you ask from your local country bar? Oh yeah, and no fights.
Drop in and say Hi - I'll see you there. -

I stopped in here for a cold Michelob (regular not diet or even worse super diet!) $3 yes!(I've been craving one out of curiosity and nostalgia). I bellied up to the rush hour / happy hour crowd of people letting off steam, moms talking about the financial woes of their sons and just odd people I didn't think would like this kind of place. Just like a regular dive bar but with a small stage, and a medium dance floor. there was also a couple of pool table close to the door for the non line dancin folk. I wish the place was closer, I'd go there at night to hopefully see a cougar in some Rocky Mountain jeans!

Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden...these are a few of my favorite bands. This place is country. And if country was on a map then the name would be Awesomevilletownburg. I know, I know, "I don't like country music" you say? I say "I agree", but this place IS guilty pleasure with a side of polite. And if you're single with all your teeth and can spell...girls or guys...you might be able to complete the Walk Of Shame. Whatever? Walk of Fuck Yeah!

This is a great little place. Who knew you could find such an authentic country bar in LA? They bring in a mixture of bands that play either traditional country to more contemporary country (which is my favorite.) I can't find too many places that play the newer stuff and the times I have been there, they've had a great band who plays the newer stuff quite well.
I love that they have dance lessons before every band, so you can learn a few steps beforehand. Don't worry if you aren't that polished, because I guarantee you the regulars will ask you for a dance before you know it.
The waitresses and bartenders are not overly friendly. They are actually quite rude. However, I am there to enjoy the bands and have a good time, not to be a victim to horrible service. There are a lot of regulars who seem to come from week to week, and the crowd is a little older. Not a huge hang-out for the under 30 crowd.
If you are looking for an experience...I'd check the Cowboy Palace out. You'll have a lot of fun. -

I went into this bar only once about 3 years ago with a friend of mine. As soon as I walked in the door, I wanted to turn around and walk back out! I got the worst vibe!
The people were unfriendly and "clicky." The women looked like old hippies with over bleached blonde hair, and the men all looked like "fake wanna be cowboys". Now, I like country music and country folk, but this bar was far from being a country bar with good old fashioned hospitality. If you couldn't dance the "two-step", well you might as well take four steps out of there!
I wouldn't waste my time going back, when there are far nicer clubs around that welcome my pocketbook and dancing shoes! -

I don't like country music. Not even a little bit. However, oddly enough I dig the bands that play here (I'm a sucker for live music). This place is fun, and no one makes you feel stupid if you miss a step or two while getting the line dancing down. Bright atmosphere, the crowd obviously mainly consists of cow-boy types (but I've never felt ostracized for not dressing the part), both bartenders and patrons are out-going and friendly, and not having to cringe when the bar tab arrives is always a plus. Bonus: interesting conversations with the exotic dancers on break from The Candy Cat next door.

Put on your shit kickers and go kick some shit! This quite possibly the best country bar in Los Angeles. It is the only one I have been to out here but that is not the point. Pool Tables, live country music, Free dance lessons every night of the week. They have blue Jeans all over the walls. Thier pockets make good beer holders while your playing pool I must add. Plus! Boots, boots, and more boots! I go as often as I can. Ice cold bottles of Bud Ice. heck yeah! If you just want to have a good time Go for the chinese cowboy. he is there every weekend. he is usually hanging with the Chuck Norris look alike.

I drove by this place numerous times, but until about a month ago I never thought I would fit in, since I am not caucasian. But I tried it and I LOVED it, I was probably the only, uhm exotic, person in there, but several of, what appeared to be, the regulars did strike up a conversation with me and made me feel home! Great beer, cheap and it was fun, never thought it would, watching the Line Dance Lesson. Live Band was awesome, although I am not too much into Country Music. The ladies were mature and extremely nice and very, uhm friendly ;-) I am hooked on Cowboy Palace Saloon.
Being right next to the Candy Cat, I walked next door to see what that place was all about, but one of their patrons became beligerent for whatever reason, never saw him before, so I walked out, I didn't want any trouble. Walking back to Cowboy Palace Saloon, that patron followed me out and swung at me in the parking lot. I was amazed several of the Cowboys and girls actually came out to help, although I already subdued the perp. I thought that was very nice seeing that in L.A.! -

This is one of the best bars I have been to so far! It is not your typical "Hollywood Meat Market" bar. You can come here and just feel at home. This bar is the one Toby Keith sings about in his song, "I love this bar" and when you stop in you will know why! If you are looking for a great place to hang out or get your southern dance on, this is it!

Neat place, I take people from out of the country there all the time. The live music is always good. Booze prices are about average. No cover! Does get crowded on Friday and Saturday or when a largish name band comes in. The dance floor is sort of small. Crowds tend to be older.
Decore is a trip with various country themed items mounted on the many surfaces of the bar. I'd never thought I would see this many Confederate battle flags outside of a KKK rally! (Not that I have ever actually been to one.. really.)
Apparently a great place to go Cougar hunting.
