Courtyard Los Angeles Westside is a complete renovation of a bad hotel that was just gutted and completely redone. I checked in a few friends for one night with a special travel industry rate plan that I'm eligible for (was $59/night rather than $159/night).

Notes:

1) Check in was very friendly

2) Unless your company reimburses you, do not pay the $12 for parking. Street parking can be had for free, and even the front desk person thumbed up my decision to park on the street rather than in the hotel's lot. They really need to make parking free, everyone staying at the hotel knows it's free, and their pay lot remains only a quarter full.

3) Call from front desk soon after I arrived to see how I was doing was a nice touch

4) LCD TVs in the room, nice plush beds, and plenty of amenities.

All in all, I feel that the sterile feel of the courtyard brand leaves a lot to be desired. However, all of their hotels, this one included, are always spotless and well maintained. The fact that they offered wide availability for the special rate plan that I took advantage of pushes this to 5 stars, at the top.

This is probably the best Courtyard I've stayed in. It's newly renovated so the decor is one step above my usual business traveller hotel. It's close to Fox Hills Mall, The Bridge and the 405 which makes it pretty convenient . It's also a short drive to Marina Del Rey. Also having an outdoor pool with lots of chairs and Cabanas was nice. The pools at Courtyards aren't usually for made well for tanning. It was quite comfortable. I really could have used Pina Colada service though.

We however did have a difficult time with housekeeping.  We would leave for hours in the day time and room still hadn't been clean. Also parking is $12 and this area you really shouldn't pay for parking. It's not like it's really at a premium here. If I was paying attention I would have parked on the street in front of the CHP for free. I would also skip the breakfast buffet for $13 and hit one of the local places which have much better food for the same price.
