Scenario: Two night stay for a recruiting trip.
Price: $107 per night on Mon & Tues plus taxes making about $125 per night. $200 for a small conference room.
Service: There was no continental or free breakfast. For that price, I think there should be something more than coffee and cookies at front desk. You can go to the little diner they have and buy breakfast, which was average price and quality. The front desk staff were the most friendly staff I have ever met, and I have traveled A LOT the last couple years. They called me the last night to ask how my stay was going and take suggestions. They were even receptive of my suggestion to fix one of the ventilation panes to not blow straight down on the bed. The front desk lady said she notified their workers to fix it and never had an argumentative tone in her voice about it. These people were so friendly, talkative and professional it's enough to make me want to stay there again even if it's not on the company dime. My boss reserved a room to conduct interviews in, and it was pricey, but the amenities were comfortable and adequate. Also, there were two computers to use in the 'business center' and hardly anyone was using them so they were always free. Each room has a microwave and mini fridge and you get a copy of USA Today each morning. The armoir was a bit small. Rooms are quite spacious.
Atmosphere: The MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept on while traveling. Big HD flat screen TVs. Roomy showers with a little stone seat in the back so you can just relax under the warm shower. The entire hotel was very clean and had a warm, comforting feeling. The elevators get a little confusing with there being split levels for the rear to the parking area. This hotel is right next to the Country Club Plaza, so getting dinner or simply going out to see the sights is easy. There are also tennis courts nearby and road access to freeways and other parts of town is convenient. Noise was no problem at any time.
Uniquity: The almost overly-friendly staff, super comfy bed, and location make this place a must try for that price range.
I've stayed here on two separate occasions, and on the plus side, the rooms are larger than traditional hotel rooms, since the hotel was converted from an old apartment building. All rooms have a plasma tv, microwave, and refrigerator. I've also never had a problem with noise, although I've always been placed at the end of the hall, and the hotel never seemed busy. Parking was also free.
My main problem is with the hotel staff. Both times I've stayed for government business, and I wasn't supposed to be charged taxes. Both times when I arrived, I showed my government charge card and filled out all the forms they told me to, but I was still charged-and the last time it was a bitch getting the taxes removed. I ended up having to fax a copy of my charge card, and it was a five minute argument to get them to accept it since I blacked out all except the last four digits. Then, when I asked what happened to all the forms they made me fill out with my SS#, their manager said they lost them, but it was no big deal because she was sure nobody would want it anyway.

My two night stay started off with the front desk person in-correctly formatting our keys, so when we got to our room they did not work. Then after explicitly booking a room with two beds for a group of four, we received a room with one King-sized bed. Argh! Anyway, once we did get the correct room, it was very clean with new amenities. It was however a little hard to sleep with what I think was the furnace making noise when it kicked on every 20 minutes. Great location though, we were in the heart of the plaza.
