This was a very nice hotel--my BF and I were just passing through town....Stockton has a reputation of having a very high crime rate and a city known for drugs, theft, and such. However, this hotel is located in what the locals call a nice part of town--the "Brookside" area.
The guy who checked us in was super nice (Sal?) as was the lady who checked us out (I think her name was Dawn?). The room was nice and the bed was comfy with soft pillows.
One thing I really liked is that there was a big plastic bag in the closet with an extra blanket, sheet, and pillowcases. I am a blanket hog, so I appreciated that there was already a second one in the room that I could use.
Breakfast: very worth $9, as it was fast and convenient. The lady who was the buffet attendant was very nice to the customers and helped all of us with everything. We left her a big tip because she was working so hard and was very nice.
Tips:
1. The drinking glasses that are usually by the sink for you to brush your teeth with are not by the sink!! You have to open the cabinet that is below the TV and there they are with the ice bucket.
2. Parking is very easy, as the Marriott is one small building with parking around its perimeter. No scary garages a million miles away. It felt safe to park and walk a mere 10 feet to the entrance.

Soso....Clean, comfortable.... I think the "up" button on our remote was busted... that was a bit annoying... but not really so ... BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T THAT MANY CHANNELS ANYWAY!!!
annoying....
the air conditioner here was actually a little more confusing than I thought it would be. It was 81 in our room and we were trying to cool it down.... after about 3 hours of being hot, I figured out that the fan was on... but not the AC portion... fixed that and we got some cooling effect going.
Parking was a breeze because I don't think there was really many other people staying.
Overall... it was great... nothing special.
I have had several groups stay here, and have never had any issues, we also use thier meeting spaces and catering all is a big 10 from 1-10. The Staff is wonderful and the AGM Debbie S. was working the front desk covering lunch for her staff was very pleasant and nice to talk to. Staff is professional, rooms are clean and comfortable, and I would refer the Residence Inn and the Courtyard to anyone staying in Stockton for business or Leisure.

Considering this is Stockton, there aren't that many nice hotels to choose from (ones that don't make you feel grossed out), so I have to say that Courtyard Marriot is one of them (vs Waterfront Hotel, Stockton Grand--future Hilton). Service is wonderful; we had the fastest checkin ever. Also the manager at the front desk was always super friendly with us. Free wireless internet in your room and with a couple of computers downstairs. Multiple copies of NY Times and USA Today available in the lobby each day. Room was equipped with flat screen ~32in tv and a semi living room with loveseat and coffee table. It was clean, comfy, and everything seemed fairly new. Also great Brookside location.
Overall, we had a great stay here! We felt so welcome here and would have no problem staying long term if needed.
Your average clean, comfortable, Marriott Courtyard. Staff was courteous, parking was nice and easy, and the hotel is located at a very accessible location near I-5.
Only downside to other Marriott Courtyards is that breakfast was $8.99. It's much cheaper if you go to the various eateries around town.

This a clean place to lay your head. That's about it. The staff is usually top-notch when it comes to service, but the rooms are cramped and nothing special (not that you can expect too much from a "Courtyard"). It's definitely not what you expect for its Brookside address.
Having said that, obviously Stockton isn't a tourist attraction so if you need a clean and safe place to stay, this hotel is a decent option.
