Let's get the Elephant in the Living Room out of the way first, shall we? This is not a "typical" Courtyard by Marriott. This Santa Fe location was already a hotel, then Marriott bought it. It does have a slightly 'mismatched' feel that carries over across various buildings.

Get a first-floor room; elevator service may not be near your room (or non-existent) because of the patchy layout.

YAY:

Good price, nice value.

Good central location, easy drive to Old Town, museums, etc.

Clean, well-organized room with a pleasant, 'Southwest' feel.

Easy parking, close to the room.

Indoor pool.

Nice staff, easy check-in/out.

BOO:

Smaller room. No microwave in room.

BY THE WAY: Santa Fe seems to specialize in super high end hotels or low- brow scary joints, with not much in between. Courtyard fits the middle very nicely.

Now you know.

We stayed here for 4 nights in November 2008. It's just what you'd expect from a Courtyard, a decent, clean room. Nothing spectacular, but a comfortable place to stay.

I didn't have a problem with this hotel at all. Like the other reviewers said, sure the layout is a bit funky, but who cares? Sure it was confusing the first time, but my wife and I found our room without issue every time afterwards.

Pros:
Fridge in the room - My wife and I enjoyed the food immensely in Santa Fe. Since we often had leftovers, it was nice actually having a fridge in the room. Unfortunately there was no microwave, but several times the front desk allowed us to use one that they had.
Bar - We had a few nightcaps in the bar before turning in for the night. Margaritas were tasty and not made from a pre-made mix. A bit overpriced, but that's to be expected from a hotel bar.
Fitness Room - If I recall correctly, there were 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 stationary bikes, dumbells and a nautilus machine. I used the treadmill just about every morning we were there and had no issues (other than dealing with the Santa Fe elevation!).

Con:
Location - The Courtyard is located a few miles from the historic center of Santa Fe. It's an easy enough drive to get there, but I would have preferred to be able to walk to the Plaza and to other sites. We got a good rate at the Courtyard through the Marriot F&F rate though, so we took this as a tradeoff.

That's about it. It's just what you'd expect from a Courtyard.

I am a huge fan of the Marriott chain of hotels.  Every stay has always been totally awesome and I always get a very nice, lovely, clean and comfortable room.

Until now.  You know, I pulled up in front of the hotel and thought to myself, "self, this doesn't look good".  Self was right.  First off, I didn't get the usual warm and friendly greeting from the front desk.  And this lady was supposed to be a "manager".  Alright.  Also, the layout was weird and I had to drag my suitcase thru the courtyard, all through a couple different hallways to get to the elevator.  Hotel maintenance is not a priority at the property.  Even the elevator console panel needs work.  My room was AWFUL.  The carpet was worn and dirty.  The bathroom was grossly out of date.  The linens were also worn and the TV armoire rattled as I walked by it.  Checking out of this place was also a hassle.  They seemed amazed that I didn't like my room.  Yes, you are correct.  I didn't spend the night, 15 minutes was enough for me in this hotel.  They did offer a phone and the yellowpages so I could find another hotel.  I guess that was very nice of them.  I passed.

Also, just a word of warning.  Carefully check out where you plan to stay in Santa Fe.  I found out that they don't have a lot of really great hotels.  It took me over an hour to find a clean place to stay.  This is true, I swear.
