I decided to go to Portland about 12 hours before leaving, so I did a last minute reservation through the oh so wonderful Priceline last-minute bid feature, and got a great rate at this Courtyard by Marriott.

The room was huge and had two Queen size beds. The beds were comfortable enough, and we slept well.

There was no mini-fridge and everything playing on tv was pretty horrible, but that didn't bother us all that much.

We enjoyed the night, enjoyed swimming in the little pool, and everything in the room worked. Woo hoo! (Sadly all the pool towels were in the wash in the morning, so we had to bring towels from the room.)

The only downside? Most of the other guests we saw were either elderly or families. Not normally a problem, but the ~7 year old kids in the room next to ours were a little too loud/chatty before bedtime.

We stopped in a few nights ago as we were not sure where we wanted to stay while in the area. It was just remodeled and looked great. Our room was nice, but no mini fridge, beds were not that comfy and the linens stiff and towels on the thin side. For $149.00 I wasn't impressed so we checked out the next day and went to the Embassy Suites in Tigard. What a difference! It was awesome and $40.00 a night less with cocktails and all you can eat breakfast,
The courtyard is nice, just to expensive compared to others that offer more. That is the only reason for the 3 stars.

Surprisingly, when I booked to stay at this hotel via http://Hotels.com, it didn't occur to me that I had stayed here a couple years back with my ex-husband when he'd have to go down to Portland for work and I'd tag along.

Anyway, I managed to score an awesome deal here via http://Hotels.com considering it was a holiday weekend, BUT we were checking in on July 3rd and checking out on the 4th.  I know this area of Oregon all too well and we managed to check in a little bit around 11 after our late visit to Voodoo Doughnuts Too.  It has since been renovated since my last stay and it looks gorgeous when you walk in.  To your right, they have a mini marketplace then the front desk services.  To the left of the desks is their restaurant.  Past the desks, you'll see their pool and gym.

We got to our room to find a nice king sized bed.  Nothing to rave over but it was decent and clean.

My only disappointment was their maid services.  Yes, we were awake by 8:30 and getting ready by 9:30, but tell me why the maids were vacuuming the rooms near us and banging against our walls?!  We did have our sign up on our door handle.  I mean, really?  They're lucky we were awake.  If we had been asleep still, I would've been more angry about it.

Other than that, this is a great place to stay at since it's close by to Clackamas Town Center and lots of great restaurants.

Lets face it, the hotels in downtown can be a bit pricey.  My folks were a bit shocked as to how pricey they can be.  The Courtyard Marriott in Clackamas is the perfect alternative, inexpensive, very friendly staff, clean large rooms, and very accessible.

My folks just recently stayed there for a week and had a great visit.  I was pleased when I saw how large the rooms were, they had two big beds, a comfy chair, and a desk.  They brought my folks both a microwave and a refrigerator for free, very cool.  They both raved about how comfortable the beds were and how quiet the hotel was.  I can attest to how quiet the room/hotel was when I visited them there.

There is a saloon, restaurant type place inside the hotel that my folks got breakfast at almost every day during their stay.  They raved about that as well, especially the fact that they showed up late for breakfast everyday and the chef would still make them something.

You can walk to several places from the hotel, Sweet Tomatoes, a coffee shop, Costco, Target, and the good ole Clackamas Promenade shops/restaurants.  I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone staying in town who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg for the downtown hotels.  My folks loved their stay and I was impressed with the both the room and the hotel when I visited them there.  Oh, and they have an airport shuttle, how cool is that?

I really enjoyed this hotel, even though the lounge/restaurant was still under construction when I stayed there.

The staff was super friendly, funny and easy to work with. Everyone of them were polite and knew what they were doing.

The rooms were clean, spacious and what I expected. The beds were comfortable... not heavenly beds obviously, but comfy enough.

They have an indoor pool which is well heated and a spa, also heated surprise, surprise! ;)

The gym is itty bitty teeny weeny, but it will suffice for basic exercise as long as you are quick... more on that later. The gym has a set of free weights, a bench, a treadmill, elliptical and a bike. There are towels, water and clorox wipes to disinfect your equipment.

So, as I mentioned the gym is tiny. My first night I arrived around 9pm and went to the gym... as you might I have guessed I was the only one working out, so the limited number of machines was not an issue. However the next day I was working out at the peak hour (6:30am)... so, I step out of my room, and as I'm heading toward the elevator I see a guy step out of his room in basketball shorts, tennis shoes etc and he too is heading toward the elevator from the opposite end of the hall... so I'm thinking to myself, "oh sh*t, I hope he's not going for the treadmill." Anyhow, as I reach the elevator, he turns around and heads back the other way, and now I'm thinking to myself, "ha! he forgot something, now I don't have to compete for my spot on the treadmill." BUT NO... he was NOT heading back to his room, he was hustling his butt down the stairs!! Well, lucky for me the elevator was a bit quicker than his hustle, and I got into the gym first and got the treadmill! *Cue, cheese ball victory dance reminiscent of the butter churn dance* He ended up working out on the bike, and I would like to assume that I didn't steal the treadmill from him...

Anyhow, they have a buffet breakfast downstairs for $10 (I think... can't remember now)... basic variety of hot food, cereal and juices/coffee/tea. They do serve you your beverages which is nice.

The location is convenient... right next to the highway, but unless you open your windows you do not hear any outside noise. (I was on the 2nd floor facing the back parking lot).

I look forward to staying here on my next trip to the Portland area.

Also, it's conveniently located next to the mall with restaurant and shopping options.
