Courtyard by Marriott
2 reviews for Courtyard by Marriott
I booked this hotel after looking extensively into different downtown hotels for a ladies weekend. We decided to go with location and price, not planning to spend much time in the actual room. The Courtyard letting me book the room for five adults eventually sold it for me.
Check-in was painless, parking was nearby but $15 per night as expected. The problems started when we returned home late Friday evening and we realized we only had three sets of towels and still no cot. I called down to the front desk but the phone didn't work for in-house calls. We tried numerous times, both available lines, and it was just a beeping busy signal. Finally I made an outside call to the hotel desk, but later was charged for it, even though I explained that I couldn't get through to the front desk and was using an outside line to get ahold of someone. Then they told us we couldn't add a cot to a room with two queen beds (fire hazard), even though I had booked the room online for five people.
They offered us an upgrade to a bigger room where we would have a sofa sleeper, but didn't give me a straight answer as to whether this would cost more and it was already midnight. Apparently the shift changed during all this and a much less bitchy, more helpful guy told us if the cot would fit in the room he would have it brought up. From that point on, besides the consant annoyance and lack of attention to the phone issues, it was pretty smooth.
Plusses: The room was nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom clean. In person the staff were quite pleasant and helpful Because of the service issues and the ignored phone problem, I'm not sure I would stay there again, but our issues were rather unique to our situation. This place has a lot of great reviews on the online travel sites, so I imagine our experience was not common.

so a friend who has some connection to marriot got us a discount here on friday nite, it was only 40 bucks per room after her discount. this was my first time staying here, we quickly checked in, and the people were very friendly. the room was nice and clean and had a nice bed for us and all that...not a four star palace but definitely nice enough. we rushed up to our room and got ready quickly and they got us a cab very promptly because we were in a rush. the reason for this post is that i brought three shirts to the courtyard b/c i am a little girl and i wasn't sure what i wanted to wear. while packing up my bag the next morning, i forgot to check the closet, which one should always do, do a walk through...my lady did not check either, so after i am home i realize that i have left the two shirts in the closet...dejected and upset i call anyway...hoping for the best. i call and speak to a woman and she informs me that a maid has found two shirts and that they are on her cart...she says give me your address and we will ship them to you. i am amazing and thrilled, and she was super friendly and understanding...assuming the shirts arrive fine this week, and that they are actually mine, it was a great resolution to a slip of my hungover mind. thanks courtyard.
