I can't disagree with any of the other reviews - umm except i don't think the locations warrants commiting a felony to come hang out here?!

It is nice being right by the ferry building - i wish i had time to get into the city when i stayed here. Oh I also wish i new that was a public park right next door.

The room was not overly spacious nor the bed overly comfortable. Just a room with no problems.

It's your average Courtyard nothing fancy but nice. it's nice. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Has on on site 24/7 store. It is in a very nice location next to the bay. This is your basic road-warrior Courtyard which it does well. The view from the back of the hills is nice. Each room having a patio is a nice touch. Free WiFi of course.

Want to spend some time on prime, expensive Marin county property near the ferry station to SF?

Stay near shopping, movie theater, restaurants, and the Marin Airporter express bus?

Located just off 101 and near the Richmond-San Rafael bridge with a view of the Bay?

If Yes, then follow these instructions;

Plan A: Commit a capital crime, get caught and convicted, and get sentenced to San Quentin.

Pro: It will be free (well minus attorney fees and fines)
Con: that is exacttly what you will be, a Con!

Plus, it may take 2 - 5 years, depending on court calenders and appeals.
The area is good, but the neighbors?
(debunks the location, location, location argument!)

Plan B: courtyard by Marriott, Larkspur Landing!

This Courtyard is like any other Courtyard by Marriot, except it is around the bend from a high-security state penal institution. But you won't hear any bars rattling from the cells, and I don't think anyone has escaped in decades, except in the movies.

Actually, it is a nice quiet location, amidst 2 other apartment complexes, and near all the aforementioned amenities. 3 stories. Typical prices here range from $150 - $199 depending on availability and season.

I have stayed here many times, and it is consistently reliable. Not as reliable as San Quentin, but much more confortable.

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Larkspur a few days ago (early March).  I have a client for work in Point of Richmond, and so I decided to stay at this Marriot as it's a short drive to the Richmond Bridge.  It's not the nicest Marriott  (even for a Courtyard) - just very basic, but I didn't mind as it's in a convenient location.  I got there late in the evening and after the first night.....

I WOKE UP WITH BED BUG BITES ALL OVER MY BODY!!!!

I noticed some spots on my arms when I woke up, but didn't pay much attention since I had to get to work.  However, as the day went by the bites got itchy and I started realizing just how many I had.  There were bites on the back of my neck, my arms, AND my legs, probably 30 in total.  It was really distracting and frustrating as I was under a major deadline and trying to work!!  I've never gotten bed bug bites before, so took pictures of the bites and sent them to my sister, who (fortunately!) is a dermatologist.  She said that they are antropod (bed bug) bites.  Usually they come in sets of 3 (commonly referred to as "breakfast, lunch, and dinner").

That night, I called my corporate travel services and they switched me to the Embassy Suites in San Rafael (MUCH nicer and surprisingly cheaper, but farther away from the 580 bridge).  I threw out my suitcase since bedbugs are known to crawl into luggage and get carried to other places.  Fortunately it was an old suitcase that was falling apart already.  Happy to say that I haven't gotten any bites since switching hotels, but I am still super itchy and feeling really, really creeped out by this whole thing.

Obviously I would NEVER recommend staying at this hotel!!  Note thought that this is becoming a problem across the US - I heard on the radio this morning (ironically) that there will be a special about bed bug infestations on ABC news tonight....

This is an okay motel, in a nice area, across the street from a small shopping center, and not far from the Larkspur Ferry to SF. The rooms are adequate, and quiet, most with a balcony or patio. Check with AAA to see if they have a special discount rate. The hot tub is a good one, partly enclosed. The swimming pool is somewhat small and shallow, but enough to get wet. Free coffee in the morning. All things considered it is a good place to stay if you get a good room rate.

Not a bad Marriott property, but nothing spectacular either. The rooms are clean, the beds are OK and A/C isn't too loud. The front desk people are a bit slow to assist you, but given the tourist traffic they get in that area I can only imagine what they've been through. At least there's no charge for parking. The ferry is right across the street, as are plenty of good restaurants; never tried their room service, but it doesn't look too good.

This hotel is much like other Courtyard Marriotts. A cut above the other drivel. The rooms are pleasant, roomie, and the beds super comfortable.
Breakfast is not terrible but nothing to write home about.
With Larkspur landing across the street, there are plenty of good dining establishments available.
If you need to stay in Marin this would be my choice.

I stay at a lot of Marriotts, this one is fairly pricey, I'm assuming it's due to location. There are precious little amenities to the property and the set up is awkward. Outdoor pool only - brrr! There is a teeny little sink area, bad for primpers. We had no lotion or conditioner in the room either. Despite all of this, the staff could seriously not have been nicer or more accommodating & there is free wireless (as in all Marriotts) and the beds are super comfortable.  I was tickled pink by the night guy at the desk and the morning woman, so friendly! I had their names, but they've escaped me now, I don't think it matters though, if you go to this hotel you are sure to have a nice experience.

Recommend for Marin-ites who have family coming into town.  Great location, easy access to restaurants, movies, and the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.  Rooms are nicer than most Courtyards.
