Courtyard by Marriott

3 reviews for Courtyard by Marriott
If you need to be in this area of L.A., the Courtyard Marriott here is a good choice. It's decently priced, especially with a AAA membership discount, has an outdoor pool, indoor spa, exercise room, coin-operated laundry machines, and a small 'business center' (i.e. a computer with free internet and printing). There's plenty of lawn chairs to sit and tan on in the courtyard by the pool, and also outside all the patio doors of rooms on the interior of the hotel. As far as we could tell, services were good and courteous. There was free coffee and tea in the lobby, although my one complaint would be that the continental breakfast served was sold separately. Room amenities included a pretty spacious bathroom area, mini-fridge, and other standard stuff (hair dryer, restaurant listings &c). The lobby also featured a mini-store with microwave, last-minute toiletries, ramen, and other convenient snack items.
In terms of location, this hotel is conveniently near the entrance to highway 60 (from Azusa Ave), and right up the hill from an Albertson's and a strip mall. It is also a decent walk downhill from a major mall, which was convenient since we needed some last minute items from there. So, even though the continental breakfast isn't complimentary, at least there's plenty of fast food and a couple Chinese food shops within walking (including Boba Tea Hut). Within driving, there are Asian restaurants galore down Colima.

This hotel is yet another example of Courtyard's amazing consistency. I've stayed at Courtyards in LA, Phoenix, The Twin Cities, Saint Louis, DC... they are all basically the same. Your standard amenities are all here: pool, spa, workout room, business center and laundry. The Internet in Courtyards is never terribly fast but it's sufficient for surfing the web. Service was decent, the room was clean. Courtyard is nothing if not reliable.

We stayed here for 3 nights a couple of weekends ago. Nice location close to a lot of shopping choices. We were in town for a motorcycle class (American Supercamp) being held at the Industry Hills Expo Center, just under 10 minutes away.
Breakfast wasn't included. We ate their one morning but we found other Asian choices for the other mornings. yum!
Our room was clean and quiet and sufficient for what we needed. The pool, workout room, and hot tub all looked good though we didn't get a chance to use them.
We would come back to this place. We definitely liked what we found in the neighborhood.
