"County Line", demarcation point separating the LA and Ventura counties...but it's much more than that.

This is a place of great memories for me, days when we could bring in a load of firewood and camp right on the sand and wake to the sound of waves pounding the shore. The damp morning breeze heavy with the smell of dying embers mixing with the salt, kelp and sea life-laden air, crisp and cool. How invigorating it was as we'd squeeze into our chilly wetsuits to paddle into the deep blue surf framed beautifully in white lace foam. I did this each Friday night, traveling north out of LA after work at the LA Times and I did this for several years. It is a place you can still find some peace.

County Line lies just outside the LA megalopolis and offered solitude from the hordes of citified beach goers drawn to the South Bay. The drive often rewarded us with decent, uncrowded waves and we could satisfy our thirst and hunger at the diner just across the highway. I think the place was called Neptune's Net (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). During bigger swells, when all the choice spots were sardine-packed with hungry wave riders, we could catch some good right-handers here and come home to tell tall tales of great conquests "up north".

It all stopped the morning I awoke to cold water rushing into my sleeping bag and a badge telling me no more camping or beach fires. It was high tide and high time to move on.

100 freakin degrees by 10 am in the valley?!?! stupid armpit of la.

my cousins and i decide to go to the beach to cool off some. we've been to this beach quite a few times now, and it's perfect. we swam, boarded, played a bit of volleyball, and just plain relaxed. parking's a bit hard b.c there's no lot for this spot. but that's also a good thing b.c it's not crowded on the sand.

a lot of surfers, boogie boarders, and there's still more than enough room for swimmers. beware of the rocks, but once you get passed them, it's soft sand after that.

and if you have a pup, many people bring their dogs here. you just have to keep them on a leash.

great place to cool off, swim, people watch, tan, etc.
