Well, I just had my first experience here washing and drying my dog (a Pit Bull).  What a great place!

I walked in, was very pleasantly greeted by the nicest woman who gave my dog treats and had NO FEAR what-so-ever of him.  A very pleasant surprise since the woman (patron) standing at the counter picked up her Boston Terrier immediately upon seeing my dog walk in.  What a shame there is so much ignorance.  But, that's a WHOLE other topic.  Anyway, I told her I had never been there before and was not quite sure how it all works and could she please help me.  She was more than happy to help and she did it all enthusiastically and with a smile on her face the whole time.   She showed me how to get started with recommendations on how to use the wall hooks and hair dryer.  She provided me with two big clean towels, two big bottles of shampoo and conditioner and several doggie treats.  =)  There is also a table with all the grooming products you could ever want or need, such as ear cleaner with cotton pads, hot spot spray, nail trimmers, coat & skin moisturizer, brushes, combs, eye boogie cleaner, face cloths etc all free to use at your discretion.  How nice!

The hair dryer is a nice treat as well but the air is not warm at all so it takes quite a long time to dry even the very short hair on my Pit Bull.  My only complaint about this place is that I wish the air in the dryers were a little hotter.  Other than that, I love this place and the woman who owns it.

Thank you for the warm welcome and helpful customer service!  I wil definately be back!  =)

We just had our first visit here today. AWESOME! It's so nice not to have to bend over the bathtub at home for a half hour, then find dog hair in everything for the next week. The owner is friendly and the facilities are clean. The only reason I chose 4 stars instead of 5 is the price - I think for someone with a big dog $18 is probably perfect, but for my little guys it seems a bit steep. Would love to see some sort of special where you could pre-pay for 10 washes at a discounted rate or something. Will definitely be back, though!

I recently got my very own furball, and Mary Ann, the owner of Country Pet Wash, has been great!

She introduced my pup to the dremel/nail filer so nicely and gently that I think the next time I go there, filing his nails will be a breeze. She also gave tips and recommendations for puppy training classes, ear care, and tons of other helpful items.

My soon-to-be-usual routine for Sunday will likely include a trip to Country Pet Wash after taking the pup to Cuesta Dog Park.

Listed in: Pet friendly Bay Area!

Okay, dudes, this is where you need to wash your dog. You do the work, not a groomer. Country Pet Wash rocks. The tubs are at waist height; no more broken backs. There are physical dividers between the tubs so the barking at each other is minimized. The owner (the very cool, dog loving Cindy LaPorte) provides everything you need: an apron, towels, shampoo and conditioner, and nail trimmers. Plus the all-important restraints that keep Fido from taking off. Each tub has it's own dryer, and they don't sound like a jet engine, which must be 50% of the terror dogs have of going to the groomers. There's brushes and combs, etc. and free dog biscuits. I love love love this place. Cost is around $17 now, but SO TOTALLY WORTH IT. My only quibble is I wish they were open for longer hours!

Update 10.24.07: Cindy has sold the business to Marianne (but is still there sometimes). She's off to Cabo for some R&R. The prices are the same and Marianne seems nice. All the goodies are the same.

Bathed my puppy here for the first time today. It was a wonderful experience. The facility makes it easy to clean my dog without hurting my back. They supply all the accoutrements: shampoo, brushes, towels, ear cleaner, dryers, treats. And they sell toys. $18 for a 9 lb dog, with outstanding service.

Thank you again Ms. Katrina for this delightful suggestion.
After a long day of rolling around in the park and getting nice and filthy, I brought my pooch here to Country Pet Wash on a Saturday afternoon. I was greeted by a very friendly staff and fairly clean stations. Ms Mary Ann  is the owner, and she gave me a great introduction about this place. We had a small tour, she showed me the doggy accoutrement's and we started Oliver's bath. This place includes single pet washing stations, two towels and a bottle of hypoallergenic shampoo. They supply you with the materials, and you do the work. Though Oliver was not a fan of being a wet dog, In the end we were happy and  smelling like "freesia fling". Mary Anne also managed to feed Oliver many treats so she got plenty of wagging tails after her.
    Here's the breakdown.

Location: Strip mall in Mountain View/Los Altos. How bad can that be?

Shop: Clean and friendly. Mostly big dogs since, little ones fit in the kitchen sink.

Cost: $18.00 for a pet wash. The local Petco charges $12.00 and you won't get the same cleanliness, service or doggie treats!.

To be able to spend time with the 2nd love of my life and get it on film: Priceless.

PLEASE NOTE: Cash or Check ONLY!

Washing a normal sized dog can be messy - water goes everywhere, you have to bend down into the tub, finding the right shampoo, then the blow drying, all the dog towels...all of it = mess.

Country Pet Wash solves the mess problem and more:
    - raised tubs! No more bending and better access to washing the side, under and top of your pet = a cleaner, better washed pet!
-they provide everything you need: towels, shampoo, dryers, scissors for trimming, stuff to clean out the ears. All of it and then some.
    - lots of shampoo choices: Is your dogs skin sensitive? do you want to brighten the white parts and darken the dark parts?

I've taken our Aussie Shepherd there for years -- he doesn't love baths, but he likes Country Pet Wash! For a big dog - i think the prices are reasonable (somewhere under $20) for my little dog (she's 4 lbs) i can wash her in the sink.

One thing I do to make the experience better is give Brizzie (our pup) a special set of treat during the washing and drying. This helps him be more manageable.

The staff is great -- the owner of 10 years just sold to a new person and she seems great too.

I just love this place! The owner is so friendly!  I never looked forward to washing our two large dogs.  You have to line the bathroom with towels.  After washing them, you have to spend the same amount of time cleaning up after it.  The dog hair fills the drain as quick as I can wipe it away.    It simply becomes a production!

Then I found the Country Pet Wash! I love taking my hounds there once a week!  First, I really like supporting independent businesses over large chains.   The owner is super friendly and extremely helpful. She has given me lots of tips!  I love having the tie downs on the tub.  I am taller, so washing the dogs without bending over or kneeling down is just great!  They have a brush there that works wonders on my thick - coated lab!  It is called the Furm-e-nator!  It is awesome.  It really gets the undercoat thinned on my hounds.  I go from vacuuming my floors every other day to once a week.  It simply makes that much of a difference. I love the friendly environment.

Washing my dogs has gone from a chore to a fun outting!  If you are a dog lover, you will enjoy this.

They provide two towels, an apron, and doggie shampoo.  Plus, they clean up the mess.  I have a six month old and she LOVES going there too.  She giggles the whole time while I scrub down her doggies.

    THANK YOU!

This place is great, except for the fact that they say they're open at 10am and the owner doesn't show up to open until about 10:20am.  There was another person waiting for them to open as well, and he said the owner is typically 15-20 minutes late opening.

Other than that, the owner is very nice and helpful and was great with my dog!

This is a convenient location and the woman was extremely accomodating and friendly.  The issue I had was that I used one tub for both my small doggies and brought my own shampoo.  I also only used two towels although I was provided with four,  My issue is that it was $36 charge.  I think this is a bit pricey in view of the fact I can wash both dogs at another location for one token.  I would have preferred to take them to the groomer for "the works" but unfortunately she is on holiday.  I probably won't be back as my dogs need to be washed often as they are white and get dirty quick.  $36 a week to wash the dogs is a bit much in view of the fact it costs $150 to groom them once a month.  Perhaps a two dog discount would be a perk.

So convenient!  Country Pet Wash supplies everything you need to clean your dirty pooch.  From shampoo to clippers, you tidy Fido, FiFi or Fred (or in my case, Maggie) in one of their tubs getting hair, suds, dirt and anything else all over the place in a location other than at your house. It's great!  So reasonably priced and such a great service!  I always appreciate when Hubby takes a dog that smells like garbage there and comes back with some soft shiny four-legged beast smelling of Calvin Canine!

Love the Country Pet Wash, been going there since 1996, so a long history. I loved Cindy, who sold the business a couple of years back to a woman named Mary Ann. She is nice, but a bit too much lecture for me. HOwever, as I've gotten to know her a bit, it's OK. The only thing I don't care for is the diluted shampoos, which also dilute the preservatives, allowing bacteria to form in the shampoos that sit. If you have a dog with skin issues, it's probably best to bring your own shampoo. Overall, the place isn't quite as tuned up as when Cindy owned it, but I love the high tubs. One comment to the idiots that bring their dogs in off-leash because "S/he is fine with other dogs," -- this is a public place, not all dogs are friendly, and the sign says "Keep your dog on a leash." Please do that.

County Pet Wash is the only place I will take my two mid-size lab mixes to be washed. No other self-wash offers a clean environment, friendly staff, and easy in-and-out process. And to pay only $18 per dog is incredible. Going to the groomer is pretty much an all-day affair and I will pay close to $100 for my pups. Plus, one of my dogs is really anxious and afraid in general and every time we walk into CPW, he just calms down immediately (and gives Maryann kisses, of course). Go to CPW - you won't be disappointed!

I used to take my dogs here quite often (previous owner) and enjoyed walking them to the pet wash and bathing them. Now, forget it! The new owner always comments on my dogs behavior and tries to push training on me. If I had more time and could take them out more often, they'd be fine. Sorry they get excited when we go out someplace, maybe to keep her happy I should walk them around the block a couple times before bringing them in. Here's to hoping there will be a new owner sometime soon (my doggies really stink!) that won't judge each dog coming in since it is so close to my home.
