Mountain View, CA
Every hotel has it's pros and cons, right? Well after staying here a handful of times, these are my findings.
Pros:
Overall this is a clean hotel.
Friendly and helpful staff
Great complimentary b-fast. (waffles, toast, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, eggs, juice, coffee)
Free Wifi
Free freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in lobby
Conveniently located on El Camino Real, and still fairly quiet
Cons:
Flakey air conditioning in the room.
No ventilation in bathroom so it can get steamy.
Blow dryers in room kinda blow if ya know what I'm sayin'.
Ice maker only on the 1st floor. (there's 3 floors)
Super firm beds. If you like firm than this would be a "Pro"
When checking out the concierge asked us how our stay was. We mentioned the faulty A/C and he didn't seem to really care. He just smiled and nodded his head as if it were amusing. Strange.
I'm not sure if I'd return any time soon. Especially since they raised the rates substantially within the last year. When relatives visit me I may have them stay somewhere similar yet cheaper in the area. -

I high recommend AGAINST this hotel!!!!
Kicked out 2 nights into a 6 night stay!
I was staying there with 2 other colleagues on business. The TV didn't worked so we asked the front desk to fix it. After 2-3 trips to our room over 30 minutes, the front desk reported they couldn't fix it. We weren't pleased, but we were civil.
15 minutes later the General Manager is in our room accusing us of "being rude" to his staff and wrongly having 3 people in the room (we specified at check-in 3 people, all 3 people were present and check-in, and we had 3 cards printed). He raised his voice fairly quickly and we told him he was acting very inappropriately. He then checked us out of the hotel (2 nights into a 6 night stay) and told us to leave or he was calling the cops!
We're not a group of rowdy kids here, we are 3 business men!
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! -

We booked a suite! But when we got to the room, I went into the bathroom and noticed a brown smudge on the toilet seat...so I thought....well, maybe it's a stain in the plastic...so I got a tissue but when I wiped at it, the stain partly came off!! But then I looked at the top of the toilet bowl and there were 4 brown spots like one would see if diarrhea had been explosive. Called front desk to ask for new room.
Got new room...all excited until I went to open the curtains and noted textured brown stains on curtains and closure wand...the curtain hem had fallen apart and looked sad. In the bathroom I found brown smudge ~5inches long on doorframe and on wall near flush handle.
Didn't want to be a complainer, left to think...was going to buy Lysol and clean it myself when I said to my husband "I really don't like our room.". He agreed and so we packed and left after 2 or 3 hours. They did charge us $126 for that though I told them they had not delivered to us an acceptable sanitary room.... I don't think that's acceptable, so I won't be recommending the hotel. -

This is the third Country Inn & Suites where I've stayed (the other two being Woodbridge, VA, and Portland, OR). I like this chain because the rooms tend to be larger and the amenities nicer than the budget hotels. For this particular stay, I booked a room for my sister's family as well as ours.
We had a room with two queen beds, and it happened to be equipped for handicap access: large bathroom with grab bars and a whirlpool bathtub, a storage area with a low clothes rod instead of a closet, and a smaller desk so that a wheelchair could maneuver between it and the bed.
Many cable channels, including HBO, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, TLC, etc. We didn't get a chance to use the pool since the weather was a little too cool for swimming outdoors, but I did stop by to feel the water and it was quite cold.
Nice large atrium in the center of the hotel, reminiscent of the typical Embassy Suites design, with tables, a small waterfall, and a computer with printer. The atrium is a nice place to hang out if the wireless signal in your room is too weak. I saw the wireless router in a planter on the east side of the atrium. Wireless internet is 802.11g, by the way.
Breakfast was very good. The typical CI&S fare, with eggs, sausage, breads, bagels, danishes, cereal, fruit, and make-it-yourself Belgian waffles, juices, coffee & milk. No yogurt, though. They did have a fancy machine for making cappucino. Not a lot of seating in the breakfast area, but you can take your breakfast out to the atrium.
There was a sign at the front desk that stated that although this hotel carried the Country Inn & Suites name, it was independently owned and operated. Didn't seem to make that much of a difference in the friendliness of the staff, but the amenities seemed a little smaller. Fitness room had a stationary bike and a treadmill, and the laundry room had one washer & dryer (although there probably isn't that much of a demand for it). There's a second computer in the breakfast area and a good selection of books that can be checked out in the front lobby.
The hotel is conveniently located off the 101 freeway halfway between San Francisco and San Jose. There's a McDonalds right across the street if you get hungry. I would stay here again if I were in the area and I wouldn't have a problem recommending this hotel to any of my family or friends.
