4 reviews for Country Inn & Suites By Carlson
Summary based on a two 1 night stays as a business traveler:
--Priceline win as a 2.5 star in Sunnyvale-Santa Clara for Sunday night stays in Jun and Jul, 2008. Bid $45/night, total $58. Web site: $195; apparently comparable Hotwire 3* $73.
--Free ok breakfast with some healthy choices including oatmeal and fresh fruit. Weak coffee.
--free parking
--free wireless Internet
--one one stay the first room I was offered had missing TV remote; 2nd had road noise from nearby busy CA237; rooms near vending/ice would be noisy
--on one stay the front desk not that helpful on check in, though very solicitous on checkout and ok with honoring advance phoned in request for no smoking room. They also claim that they would match a Priceline price, though it's not clear that they understand how this would work. I guess one could tell them what the Priceline cost was and see if they would match *without* committing to Priceline.
--hotel not close to restaurants; really need a car
--small ok fitness center with some aerobic machines; crappy pneumatic machine substitute for weights
--Costco 2.5 miles away has a cheap gas station
I had a bad experience because of incompetent front desk personal and managers. We had booked through the web for two nights but they removed our stuff from our room without prior informing us after the first night. We had recieved a notice stating that you guys are checking out after the first night. Alarmed by the front desk incompetence while he was checking us in the previous night, I called the front desk again in the morning (some other fella) who reassured us that notices sent this morning were in error.
When we returned back to the hotel in the evening, we found that our keys were not working and later on found out that our stuff had been removed from the room. It took this teenager 2 hours to resolve his mistake while we waited in the lobby. I found out later on that the manager who came in the morning charged my credit card again $180 even though my room was paid in full for both days through the web booking.
A very bad experince I must say.
You can't beat the value...
This place has free wireless internet...a heated pool...a work out facility...and free buffet breakfast...
Late check out is also an option for you laggers out there who can't check out by noon.
If you like to use Hotwire or Priceline...Country Inn and Suites will match or beat their price...
Ask for Allan, Lynn, or Becky...they will take care of you like a good neighbor!!!
This hotel is ok -- nothing spectacular, but convenient location to a bunch of tech companies close by. Priced better than others in the area. Average room. It is in an office/high tech park so no conveniences or restaurants around. There is a small restaurant in the hotel and free breakfast.
