Review from Judi S.
This is your a-typical hotel room experience with none of the ick factors I've had to deal with in the past at other hotels. I found this hotel was within my budget unlike the vast majority of the hotel chains and B&B's in Boston itself I looked at online in the $400-$600 range. Country Inn and Suites, as is Radisson, is a part of the Carlson owned hotel chain. It's located about 25 miles south of Boston and Logan Airport in Brockton.
They offer coffee all day, free breakfast and have an indoor pool & spa, gym and business center. Ample parking. Free WIFI. It's quiet here. They serve cookies at the front desk.
There are ice, soda and vending machines on the first floor, laundry on the second floor and another soda machine on the third floor.
The room I had was on the third floor and nice and clean. I don't smoke so the stale smoke smell is kind of bothersome, but not a big deal. I stayed here over the three day weekend before Columbus Day. -

Very meh. Yes, they have that free breakfast going on, but the place itself needs a facelift. We got a smoking room, only because we needed two queen beds. It was musty and kind of damp, to the point where I had to crank up the AC to dry out the air in the room. The bathroom looked really shabby, and I didn't even desire to take a shower in there.
The hotel was good for what it was, but I would not stay here again if I were in the area. Just too dull and eh for the cost. -

I wish I could give them 0 stars!!!
So in December, sweetie, FMIL and I went scoping out the hotels in the Brockton, MA area. We'd decided to check out three hotels the area.
The first hotel was easy - signed - no problems, the second hotel smelled like mold, so we went on to the third hotel - a Country Inn.
We liked the Country Inn and so called the next day to make a room block---for our wedding--- of 140 guests-- 90% of whom are coming from out of town.
I called and left message after message to no response. I finally called the front desk and asked what else I could do and they gave me the manager's cel number-- he picked up the phone and said, "Yeah, what do you want?" Which took me aback...and then we had this conversations about blocking rooms and he said that he'd have to call me back. Which he didn't. Then I sicked sweetie on him and she finally got him on the phone and he said that he couldn't do anything "this far in advance" (9 months) and to call back in March.
So March rolled around, we called back...and again....and again...and finally I had sweetie call and she got hold of him and he offered us $5 off the room rate (another hotel had offered us $20 off of theirs) and told us we had to know today how many rooms we were going to need...they couldn't give us a flexible block like other places had offered.
So she called and told me this...and I decided to call corporate because they didn't seem to be handling us well and I wanted someone else to know about it.
So I called corporate, told them what was going on, told them I suspected that we were being treated in such a way because we are gay. They lodged the complaint and then gave the manager 48 hours to respond to us. About 5 days later we heard back from corporate that the manager had said that - the hotel industry wasn't really hurting due to the economy and they didn't need to give us a discount and we are really just small fish..and mid-September is peak foliage time so there will be a lot of leaf peepers...which peak foliage is in October, we have 140 guests, and I'm sure that there will be a lot of leaf peepers this fall....or not.
So then corporate said he had a week to get back to us and then they would follow up. This was almost a month ago. So sweetie called them today and they said that the Country Inn Brockton had "declined our business" - and she said that she really felt discriminated against and they said "that is between you and your lawyer."
I am totally, totally totally shocked. -

Not bad for the price. Property shows its age and the rooms have a musty smell when you first enter but the AC works fine & soon takes care of that problem. (Not sure what I'd do in the winter). Windows also open. Bathroom clean. I did shower & it was fine; easily given extra towels. Requested & received nonsmoking room. Quiet. Breakfast is what is expected for this kind of place, with the egg offerings changing every day we were there. Staff, Dorothy, really very accommodating, friendly, most helpful. But no bananas after the first day, nor jelly for the English muffins. We came back one day after 4PM to find our room not made up, but a simple call to the front desk had the maid there in a few minutes. I'm not one who wants to pay a lot simply for a place to wash up & sleep. It does need to be clean however. This fits the bill. Wifi free, easy to sign on, not like some high-priced chains that charge extra.
