Picture it with me if you will: It's the week after Thanksgving, and you or your Christmas celebrating friends are feeling the effects of being force-fed a very capitalist christmas at every turn. Longing to escape the consumeristic nightmare, you try desperately to think of somewhere to buy a Christmas tree that isn't a grocery store or a street-side tent which you're pretty sure claimed to be "the fireworks experts" a few months ago before they were "the Christmas tree experts" now.
Get on interstate 24, drive 20 minutes to Murfreesboro and bask in the old-world, countrified, simple-life glory of Country Cove Christmas tree farm. When you enter the massive gravel drive you're greeted by acre upon acre of Christmas trees of all sorts, shapes, sizes, and types. Trees range from Spruces to Pines to Firs and they're cheaper then they were at that tent coming in around 30 bucks on average. You can get anywhere from a 2 to 12 foot tree, and best of all: if you're really brave you can cut it down yourself!
A tip: when the friendly staff is shaking down the excess needles from the bottom of your tree in that big red contraption ask them to make you a wreath out of them and they will - in minutes, for free. Then head inside to pay and enjoy hot chocolate, apple cider, and hot coffee - also free, or buy some handmade ornaments, which the farm owners paint themselves every year. You can't beat this!
