I came here last night to bowl a few games... it's been years since I've been here and I'm still a sucky bowler! Anyways... it was league night so the rest of the lanes are at a discount rate... $4 a game per person and $4 to rent shoes. I know some other people have said this place is expensive, but having lived in LA for the past 6 years, I thought that was cheap! So for three of us to play and rent shoes (3 games) it came out to $48.
I suggest buying your own shoes cuz' even though the shoes I had were newish looking... I know I was sweatin' in em so you know other people have been too.
There's a dive bar and diner attached too and there was live music playing in the background. Also, there are three working pinball machines at 75c a game (for 5 balls). It's been so hard to find pinball machines lately, that I'll probably be back here just to play pinball!
Overall a fun, cheesy time at an old school spot.... and still not any better at bowling...

Hey I have to start off by just saying that I haven't been in a bowling alley I didn't like. This one was no exception. Once I found it anyways. Here's a hint look up for a neon bowling pin. Somehow "The Loop" always sucks me in when I'm in that area. It's something like the Bermuda Triangle. I arrived (late) on a Thursday night and it wasn't busy at all. There was a band playing in the bar behind a pool table and what do you know I was thinking hey these guys sound good! For being in a bowling alley and all. The guy at the counter was super friendly and everything seemed very laid back. We got some beer at the bar and again everyone was friendly. It was like all these people like their job. Nice. They close at 11pm and around 10 it looked like we were the last ones bowling. The counter guy made and announcement to our lane saying they were going to be closing soon, it was about 10:20. We were in the middle of a game so we didn't really know what to do but then he came over and clarified that if we paid we could just continue bowling until they were leaving. Which we did. Shut the place down. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area or want to escape Petaluma. My scores were pretty pathetic but I don't let it get me down.

Only Bowling Alley in Marin.
Lanes and equipment is kept in pretty good shape.
Great for kid parties and having some fun. They have some fun arcade games.
I've never been there at night.

This is the best bowling alley in the north bay. Love the dark colors and genuine '70's decor. This place reminds me of my high school days and has great lanes and equipment to boot! Have the crinkle cut fries at Mr. Pizzaman afterward and complete your time travel trip!

Went there on a Friday night and most lanes were available. SIx of us shared 1 lane to celebrate a birthday. Nice atmosphere...kinda like any other bowling alley I have been to. Good thing we don't bowl much because it was realllly expensive. Over 100 bucks for 2 rounds. If it were not for that, I'd give em more stars...and maybe even come back more frequently.
Country Club Bowl is very fun but very EXPENSIVE for bowling.
Still, there are many pluses:
-The balls are color-coded by weight so it doesn't take long to select one
-There are lots of lanes (40, I believe?) so you don't have to bowl right next to people
-The bartender will bring drinks right to your table/lane, and they're not uptight about people only drinking in the carpeted area
-They have a karaoke night! (Saturdays?) where the same two people wailed out horrible renditions of love songs for hours while we bowled
-Lastly, I guess this is a good thing. The air smells of Lysol, so I think they clean the shoes pretty well.
BUT: It adds up to something absurd like $40 for two people to bowl 2 games, not counting drinks.
I have my birthday party here every year, I love to bowl..so much that I do it once a year and expect to be really good at it. One year I got a Turkey, too bad it wasn't my birthday, it was John's. Anyway...
Five stars to Country Club for many reasons: they have a kick ass bar with pool tables and great beer deals. They have those cool video games and a ball cleaner (snicker) They spray out the shoes after every person uses them, thanks. Oh yeah they don't kick you out if you are hammered and with a group of thirty drunk people.
If you want drinks they will serve them to you, and they are cheap..you are in a bowling alley after all. I have done shots and bowled a massive 34, pretty bad but one of my best friends bowled a 9. She was not in good shape.
There are usually leagues on Tuesday-Thursday nights, and weekends are for kids birthday parties. Or mine depending on what time of the year it is. I have come here for bowling for Kids Sake for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for a few years too (not much drinking at those events) the Staff is good and the parking is ample, plus you can stumble to Celia's for dinner after.
Goth Bowl gave it a good review: http://www.gothbowl.co...

This place is what I measure Bowling Alleys against because this the bowling alley I grew up going to. It is the epitome of a bowling alley. It's not a flashy - Ooh Aah I just got a strike - look at the Atari looking graphics on the screen - - all you get a red X above the pins. It's bowling - not a high school girls softball game. I'm there to drink beer and throw 15 pound cannon balls.
I'm not really sure why it's called country club - it's the farthest thing from what a country club is. Pretty dirty and dingy.
They have food and a bar - ate there once as a kid - wouldn't do it again. Kind of a shady part of town - Well I guess that depends on how shady you are.
Best Bowling Alley in Marin (as well as the only one). It gets the job done and you'll leave content with having just bowled....

Awesome place to bowl with all the goodies from old days... kind of pricey, but I think it's as good as it gets in Marin... I mean, I don't know nay other bowling alley in Marin. So! The place is kids friendly, too!, and... they have socks vending machine! if you ever forget to wear or bring socks. Pretty cool, huh?
First thing I noticed was the poorly maintained parking lot. Yes, the parking lot. Some may think it doesn't matter. But it can be very reflective of the establishment itself.
The price was average, the experience was fun. The inside was old school as hell. Like the carpet hasn't been cleaned in since 1987. However, I very much enjoyed the selection in the juke box (arctic monkeys, franz ferdinand !).
The staff was friendly and accommodating to our large group.
The equipment, the ball, shoes, were all decent as well. Normally, I have a hard time finding a size 8 ball but here I had about 3 at my disposal.
When I walked out after bowling back into the same uneven parking lot it very much represented the howling establishment. It was worn out but still able to serve its purpose.
$5 for a game of bowling? Well, I guess times have changed since I was a little, hyperactive kidlet (and I didn't grow up in Marin.) This place is an average bowling alley, from what I can tell. It's pretty big, seems to be that huge to accommodate all of Marin county on a rainy day when the outdoorsy types can't be enjoying their beautiful local terrain.
Felt the people-watching (I love people-watching in Marin) earned this place some extra points, but otherwise it was just an average bowling alley. If it really wants to be a "country club bowl" the food needs to improve drastically. I'm giving this place three stars just because it's name is too pretentious for what it actually is.

Ok...Here's how to handle this place.
Sign up for a lane and get your shoes....Get athlete's foot.
Hit the retro bar with the nicest bartender in San Rafael.... Get hepatitis.
Try to find a bowling ball that fits your fingers.... Accelerate arthritis.
Then pay for the games.... Go bankrupt.
Get a slice of pizza at Mr. Pizza Man.... Have a coronary.
YEAH BABY...this is my kind of place.
Take THAT you Marin "gotta outlive the Jones" freaks.
I've belonged to a bunch of leagues here. If you like your space, you'll like this place -- it's very big. The maintenance on the lanes is pretty good. I'd suggest calling ahead to see when the leagues finish, and then joining all the local High Schoolers in a bit of good, clean fun.
my friends and i used to have a lot of fun here. was always open late and was very teen friendly. not the best neighborhood at night, but not too bad.
