Having spilled enough drinks on my old ratty couch to know it was time to get a new one, I did a late night search for "midnight couch talk" and found Ameer's number.
I was hoping for a super hot accent, like from those brothers that run the gyro shop in Greenwood. You know what I'm talking bout, ladies. Holla!
But it sounded like I woke him up, and even though he tried to assure me he wanted to get me onto a couch pronto, I sensed that he was "with another customer," if you know what I mean.
So I called my ex, who had just got back from band practice, and he asked if he could come sleep on my couch. Nuh-uh, I told him. Then caved in. But he literally just came over and fell asleep on the couch. Last time that bum sleeps on my couch.
Sent an e-mail inquiry at one in the morning and received a response in 10 minutes.
The owner's blog says I can call his "bat phone" at midnite to talk couch. He is very emphatic about this.
But, well, it's well past midnite and well, it just seems weird.
Even for me.
I am 99% sure I am going to buy a couch from Ameer.
I am 100% sure that once I order it I will be calling him at 1am for reassurance that I picked the right color/fabric/fill.
Stay Tuned.
we bought Couch's version of Restoration Hardware's Maxwell leather sofa and couldn't be more pleased. We wanted a big, beautiful leather monstrosity to be the centerpiece of our rather large living room. And that we got.
RH's Maxwell retails for between $4200-$5100, and is made in China. We got ours for just under $3k (including tax and delivery), and it's made here in the states. talk about a no-brainer. The leather is luscious, the cushions are comfy, and the sofa is so deep it's like sitting in a 4-seat chaise lounge. my friend who's 6'6" can't even get his feet to touch the floor when he's sitting all the way back.
I'm just so impressed with the quality, craftsmanship, and value, and can't wait to fill our home with more Couch goodies.
We recieved our (very nice) couch after two weeks of delays. (As I understand it was a shipping issue.) I would have appreciated more pro-active communication from Ameer but I did appreciate he agreed to an additional discount.
Oh God...
Several days later, I'm still feeling the pleasure tickles left on my fingertips by the soft, divine velvet Ameer uses in some of his couches.
We ran into Couch Seattle's website by reading about this business in Apartment Therapy. From momento uno, I was intrigued by Ameer's furniture adventures. Last time we went for a coffee stroll to Fremont, I told the BF I wanted to take a peek. I'm so happy we did. The couches and chairs are stunning, well-crafted and elegant without being pretentious, most of them featuring clean and simple lines. Beautiful.
Prices are insanely good for a piece of furniture of such quality. Maybe it isn't a range that will allow you to make a "spur-of-the-moment" buy, but you won't need years of savings to purchase a piece.
Besides velvet, customers have a pretty wide selection of fabrics to choose from--even leather. We didn't buy anything but took a thorough look around and I can assure we'll be purchasing something from this store very soon. I know the Cristofani chair is waiting patiently for my pocket to recover from my studio's investment. This beautiful chair is made with a cream-colored, silk blend damask, wood and nickel nail heads. I can't stop saying it...beautiful.
Couch Seattle shares the space with The Orange Splot Gallery so they also do custom framing on site.
And that precious velvet! I'm pretty sure that if there is an afterlife with heaven et al, this is the kind of fabric your angelic tush will be sitting on for eternity.
I'm going to be good from now on. Someday, I want God to tell me "this velvet couch is your prize for for being such a good egg."
I bought my sofa from Ameer at the end of May (I think). Anyway, I was living in Miami, and knew I was coming back to Seattle shortly, and was determined to get settled as quickly as possible, and buy only a few pieces of furniture, since I had none anymore! I found the Couch blog, and visited the store as soon as I returned to Seattle. I was extremely indecisive, tired, and not in the mood to even consider all the options. Ameer sensed this and offered to come to my condo, take a look at the space, bring fabric samples, and then offer recommendations. Long story, short version is that I have the most gorgeous pale blue linen sofa that I have ever seen. It is the right size, it is the right color, and I would never have considered the really cool look of linen. The price was probably about half of what this Ralph Lauren-style sofa would cost elsewhere. It is made in the US, and the comfort is unbelievable! Ameer is the most informed furniture retailer I have ever met, and with his guidance, I purchased a piece of furniture that I could see keeping forever. It's that nice, and I am very picky about quality. So....if you need a sofa, go see Ameer. His knowledge and patience are unsurpassed. Thanks, Ameer for making this so painless!! Check out the blog, and you will see a picture of it, with our dog, Angel trying it out!
Finding a new couch is never an easy task. My husband and I searched high and low for the right style, color, and price. We finally settled on a nice Crate & Barrel model when I suggested we check out Couch Seattle, "just in case". We were floored with Ameer's selection and prices! Our couch arrived this week and we LOVE IT! It looks exactly like the C&B model, but even better - customized in a fabric of our choosing with added padding to the cushions per our request.
Browse around at Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, or Design Within Reach - THEN go see Ameer at Couch Seattle. Odds are he can get you exactly what you want, customized in any color or configuration. And the prices can't be beat!

I can't say enough great things about Couch and it's owner, Ameer. As a green interior decorator/space therapist, I am a picky one, so finding Couch was a dream come true for myself and my client base. I seriously almost fell over.
Next, I have to say that there isn't enough emphasis on the fact that Couch's sofas all begin with an ECO-FRIENDLY base. From there, you build it as green, or not, as you want/can afford. All for a median price point of $1200-1500k, where many sofas begin at that price!
The next dream come true is that Couch sofas are CUSTOM - that means you pick everything from base to fabric to style to size. Or, tell Ameer what you want and he'll pick it for you. I can't tell you how hard it is to find something that I like for myself, and for clients, for a price point that doesn't clean out their entire product budget. I was always wishing I could mix various sofas together for the ideal product. Ameer has made this dream possible, for a price point that more can afford!
AND, don't forget, all sofa bases are eco-friendly, so you are having a lesser impact on the planet when you choose Couch!
Thank you Ameer! You rock!
Wow! We are so impressed by Ameer and his furniture ! I didn't think buying a couch would be so hard untill I started looking - so many bad couches! I found the Couch website on Craigslist after finding my dream couch at Ethan Allen and finding out it was too expensive - Ameer customized a couch that was even more fitting for my room and less expensive and became my new dream couch - thanks Ameer!
