Canyon Country, CA
Let me start that I think the spa's prices are worth every penny. Full price. And yes, my budget is limited but stripping down to my chonies and allowing someone to put hands on my aches and pains is not the time when I want to skimp on the skill level, or atmosphere. Forgive me if this sounds snobby but in massage you often get what you pay for and I have no desire to spend $50 to go to a massage barn (*cough* massage envy *cough*) to get a mediocre therapist and then be pressured into a subscription after. Or a threadbare location with an underpaid tired therapist who has seen better days, and can hardly muster the energy to really focus on you.
They regularly offer GREAT specials on massage for couples and single treatments on Goldstar and if you get a 55 minute massage for under $80 in Pasadena with hot and cold stones, and aromatherapy and complain at the cost and length I suggest you try your hand at other places and see what you get for $80, or how much a basic 1 1/2 hour massage will cost you.
Cote D'Azur is in a beautiful location that is tranquil, the people that work there are truly patient, kind, and amazing, and do good work. I've gone several times, and had both Kat and Seneca and both are fantastic practitioners. My relatives have seen other practitioners and they are also kind, and very good at what they do. The business is family owned, and they are truly good people who love what they do. And I'd much rather support a local business with good craftsmen than a shady little dive or a big business.
Normally I'm a big fan of the indigo massage. I come in cranky and sore and leave smiling. My most recent massage was with Kat and I got the pregnancy massage. The pressure was perfect, the oil blend smelled so good I vowed I'd have to return to get a sample to keep at home, and it was truly an hour of bliss. I will be back in another month or so when I'm bigger and more uncomfortable and I know Kat will take care of me.
I have no desire to seek out another place to get a massage not in Pasadena or the rest of the LA metro, and I know I'm paying a good price for good service without the pretensions of other high end places, or the mediocre quality of more "budget" places. -

Wanted to do something thoughtful for my boyfriend, who had been having a rough couple of days. Found a great deal for a massage on Goldstar, that I thought would be the perfect solution. Of course, my greedy little self ended up wanting a massage as well and Goldstar, luckily, also had a deal for a couples massage hah!
I called in Friday afternoon and secured a 5pm appointment for Sunday. We arrived about 10 minutes early, and were promptly greeted, seated, and offered some water (cucumber infused maybe?). The cottage that the spa is in is super cute and cozy. We filled out some short paperwork, and were then ushered into the couples room without delay.
From Goldstar's site, I wasn't really able to tell what kind of massage we would be receiving, just that we would be together in the same room. After one of our therapists explained what would be going on and then cross referencing (lol) their services menu, it looks like we were given the Majestic Escape. All I can say is that was AMAZING. It was a combination of Swedish and deep tissue, and they also utilized hot stones (which felt so good I thought I'd die), heated bags of rice, and cold stone facial accupressure to finish it off. Everything felt and smelled soooo nice!
Our therapists were great. I had a new guy, Chris, who did a wonderful job. I told him areas to focus on, and I left feeling like he made a difference. My boyfriend's therapist was a girl, unfortunately I can't remember her name, but he said she did a fantastic job and she was super nice.
Super glad we ended up finding this spot. Oh. And did I mention that there is tons of free street parking? Yep. -

A very long and overdue review, but of course, a wonderful massage place to go to when I had first moved back home from San Diego. This place is so pretty and relaxing...very warm and welcoming...tucked away above an Irish Pub (I believe)...
My two favorite masseuses were Darrin and Tyler (Dunno if Tyler works there anymore)...they both made my bones dance because they both had the right amount of pressure when it came to the deep tissue massage I was looking for, and were always sweet and attentive in making sure the pressure, stones, and anything else was right in making me comfortable during my time there.
I've always loved getting the Indigo Massage, which consists of:
A one-hour experience that includes a full-body massage : Heavenly!
Hot stone integration: Muscles feel very limber and loose afterwards
Hot rice placement: Makes me feel even mellower
Custom aromatherapy - Sandalwood and eucalyptus are my two favorites
Hand-hydration: LOVE THIS!! Hands feel like cashmere, yum!
Finishing Finale: A cold stone acupressure face massage - This part is always bittersweet to me because I know it's the finale of the Escape, lol...
Wonderful place to splurge...though one star off since the parking area is a street down from the place... -

Overall a good experience!
My fiance treated me to a Restorative-Massage after she found a special on Groupon. For $79, it includes:
*A 55-minute full-body restorative massage (a $90 value)
*Hot-stone integration (a $25 value)
*Hot healing-pack placement (a $10 value)
*Cold jade-stone face massage (a $40 value)
A $165 value! It sounded great. However, the overall experience was approximately 55 min. I thought with all the treatment, it would've been at least 1 1/2 long. This is the misconception. So based on the amount we paid, it is a reasonable price but not of a great value. I would not have been happy paying full price.
On the bright side, we had a great experience! Staffs were friendly. The ambience was tranquil. And the person that did my massage (sorry, forgot your name again) worked magic on my back. It was a great experience overall!! Thank you! -

I FOUND HER -- my Dr. Hauschka facialist replacement (read my previous review: http://bit.ly/p3HmaA)!!! Oh dear Lord, thank you. Why the delay, you might ask? Well, due to the recession, it's only until now that I had enough disposable cash to go splurge on my poor face...a face that's traveled several continents, and endured stressful city living, only to be lovingly cleaned, soothed, and pampered by the lovely Kathleen Vanduesen.
You might laugh, but I've kept Kathleen's number in my cell phone since returning from London in 2008 -- having looked into a LA-based Dr. Hauschka certified specialist http://bit.ly/qy9DJc -- and found Kathleen to be nearby. Boy, have I been counting the minutes (and dollars) until I could afford a full Classic Treatment. And baby, it was worth it, worth the whole wait. My boyfriend commented how my face looked completely relaxed, and even my voice was different (softer). Frankly, after her treatment, I felt years of crud and worry lifted away -- my skin renewed in a organic, biodynamic (non-chemical) way. The lymphatic massage with brushes will send you into floaty heaven!!! I think my TMJ issues loosened up big time too, which my dentist will love.
Kathleen's professional level of customer service is outstanding, and I WILL RETURN.
Parking: free street parking, or you can pull into the gravel driveway and park in the rear. So easy. -

Thomas Jefferson and I came here not to long ago for a "Couple Massage" I had to talk him into it :O)
We had 2 young ladies that knew how to work out the kinks they had really relaxing spiritual tribal music and they did a "majestic escape" it was AWESOME we could not hear other guests which was a plus being that this location is above a bar. Nice soothing natural lighting in the waiting area as well.
I enjoyed it so much and so did Thomas Jefferson that a while ago a deal came up on Groupon and I purchased another "Couple Massage" with him being in Mexico I am not sure it will get used but I highly recommend this nice locale.

After exchanging some messages with Carolyn, I decided to give Cote D'Azur another shot. I had pulled a muscle in my back and a groupon deal came up, so I said, why the hell not? I'm really glad I did...I think that massage goes up with one of the best massages I've EVER had. Senica was just thorough and skilled. And at the end of it, I went -- can I afford this at normal prices more often? Unfortunately, I can't but the fact that I was even considering it deserves another star. I think they're pretty overpriced but at least I think their service seems more like its worth it.
For reference, I got this from groupon ($79) :
A 55-minute full-body restorative massage (a $90 value)
Hot-stone integration (a $25 value)
Hot healing-pack placement (a $10 value)
Cold jade-stone face massage (a $40 value) *
*on their website it say its only $30...probably a misprint by Groupon1 Previous Review: Show all »

A couple girlfriends and I had a very pleasant girl's spa afternoon at this cute and cozy spa in Old Town Pasadena.
The Good: Owner was very down to earth and caring, it's evident that she truly wants her customers to feel special by interacting with them. She is deeply rooted in the community and believes in supporting various non-profit organizations. Another plus!
My therapist was great! I think I've been lucky lately. For a while, i had a series of bad therapists, and now my luck is changing. :) She was a sweet lady...I will add her name after looking it up. She was petite but has powerful hands.
The bad: Parking--didn't know any better so parked at the nearest lot and had to pay.
Tip: Free parking at the Marriott Hotel. Also, if you make a purchase of at least $25 at the Container Store (a few shops down the road), you get free valet ALL DAY! HOORAY for shoppers!
Price was reasonable. KPCC members get a 15% discount! :) All you do is make a donation and you will get a "Friends of KPCC" card. That card will give you discount to quite a few businesses around the area (spas, restaurnats, museums, etc.)
Enjoy! You will not regret going there! -

Do not panic if you loved the place with the same name in Old Town Pasadena - it's the same people and everything, just in a MUCH cooler, mellower environment. (Look for the bamboo all around the house.)
If I could afford this, I would go weekly. Darrin is the co-owner and a master. I am not New Agey- and I think he might be, but he totally covers it up for me and is just friendly and chatty. It's not weird being massaged by a guy (and usually it is for me) and I think he just adapts to the person he's massaging.
He will follow your guidance too - if you want just a soothing "go to sleep" massage, I'm sure he'll do that, but I need tension released and we all know that sometimes that hurts. He'll make sure your body is warmed up and ready for any pain, though. When it's all released, it feels amazing.
Can't say enough good things - truly. And I am just a regular customer, not an insider or a friend.
LOVE THIS PLACE!
A side note: last year, I had a facial, and I thought it was cool... the photos of me from that evening are the best I've ever had - seriously, I looked glowing and about 20 years younger - and no, there was no botox involved! -

I should have read the reviews a little more carefully before coming in. I had a Majestic Escape Groupon and called for a Saturday afternoon appointment. After they confirmed, I got another call a couple of days before my appointment asking if I could come in at 6PM on Saturday instead. On their website, it is noted that after 6pm, it might be slightly noisy due to the pub downstairs. I know noise doesn't bother me so in an attempt to be nice, I agreed.
I arrived 10 min before and was sitting by myself until 5:59 when my therapist came out. I believe her name was Samantha (?? I could be wrong..). She was really sweet and nice, telling me that she just needs to prep the room for me as she finished another client. The atmosphere was quiet and the spa is super cute and cozy. I had a good feeling while sipping on my tea about the place even though they were running late. I didn't have anywhere I had to be for a few hours.
Once my room was ready, I told my therapist that I liked a lot of pressure in my shoulders and neck area. Boy, I am glad I did..I felt like otherwise I would have been REALLY disappointed. The whole experience was really just...bleh. The hot stones and rice bags sometimes felt unevenly heated. I tried to move a bit (maybe the placement? No..maybe my body is more sensitive on one side? Perhaps) but it didn't seem to work. Sadly I failed to escape majestically into my treatment. The noises around didn't bother me as much as the massage therapists going off 10 seconds at a time to..get the stones? I don't know what she was doing but could they put it maybe closer to the table? I reminisced about the great massages I had in Cancun...then thought about the delicious message I had at Raven Spa. Oh wait, am I getting a massage right now? Epic fail. The worst massage is the kind that you felt like you didn't get one at all.
Even though she mentioned the massage was running 15 minutes late, I got out 60 min later right on the dot even though it was supposed to be a 70 min package. I scramble my wallet to find exactly 10% of the full value to tip..and usually I empty my wallet after an excellent massage. At the front desk I see a guy counting all the receipts from the day and barely got a nod as an acknowledgment as I gave my voucher. Was that the owner? Well, that was really welcoming...off I went, no more relaxed than I already was when I stepped through the door.Listed in: Life in Old Town Pasadena

Cote d'Azur offers the usuals - facials, massages, and body treatments, in addition to holistic therapies such as energy work, aura and eye readings, vibrational toning, and more. The energy work here sets this place apart from the others: the owners of the company, Darrin and Carolyn Jacques are both amazing. Ask for an energy reading before you start your treatments and they'll custom blend the aromatherapy for you.
One of the most popular treatments at Cote d'Azur is the Indigo Escape, a one-hour experience that includes a full-body massage, hot stone integration, hot rice placement, custom aromatherapy, hand-hydration and ends with a cold stone acupressure face massage. When done right, this is heavenly. The last time I was there, I took my Mom. We were disappointed because we were both gypped out of the hot stone integration or cold stone accupressure that was supposed to be part of the "Indigo" package.
Also, their new location, though more spacious and luxrious than their previous, lacks the facilities of a "true day spa." They have no aquatherapy (no spa, steam room, shower, etc).
If you'd asked me about this place a year ago, I would've given it four or five stars. As their business has grown, Darrin and Carolyn have been more "hands-off" than they used to be. Personally, I believe this to be the decline of their facility. The last three times I was there, neither one of them were on site. Though they have friendly staff, I found my services to be sub-par the last two times. With the exception of one or two people, new massage therapists seem to cycle through often, ranging in skill and expertise. Without Carolyn's watchful eye, I was not given a choice in my aromatherapy blend; no one gave me a chance to get my energy reading.
Still, the spa has five large, sanctuary-like treatment rooms, which can also be couples room. A rooftop garden and gazebo add to the magic of the place and food can be fetched from the nearby Tibetan restaurant. The spa hosts events like Henna tattoo parties and when Darrin and Carolyn are there, a treatment there is worth it. -

Just came from a massage and a facial today.
I've never had a massage quite like this before! I'm in la-la land right now after getting the Rejeuvenating Massage there. My therapist, Carolyn, who is also owner, first took a read of my energy which I could actually feel. It was a trip. She then put together a massage that worked out so many of the tight spots in my back and hips. I loved the heat from the hot stones.
I can't sing the praises of Carolyn enough. She's such a warm and gentle soul and really aims to help heal your body when you are being treated. She gets 5 stars. (I took off a star because the sound-proofing of the rooms aren't great but I was able to tune it out.)
This was also my first experience with accupuncture from the promotional Biovisage facial that I got. Not sure how effective that was yet. I'll have to wait and see on that I guess.
*Sigh* I'm enjoying this until it's time for my next massage, which after this, hopefully won't be too long from now.

I followed my acupuncturist, Noshir Marzbani, here after he graduated from an acupuncture school downtown last summer. He is an amazing person (not to mention a dazzling and charismatic presence) who, as it seems everyone at this spa does, approaches acupuncture and wellness by considering the person, body, mind, spirit, in one integrated whole.
After the extensive intake and breathing/music/massage/acupuncture session, I left feeling I could ditch my shrink, my masseur, my life coach and my personal trainer. This man is everything in one! I can't wait to go back.Comment from Carolyn J. of Cote D'Azur 5/10/2010

Wow, one of the best massage places EVAR! =)
I made the "flexible" reservation for 5 girls but only 3 of us could go. Not a problem! They called me back to reconfirm my reservations before getting my credit card.
Since I mentioned this was for a bachelorette party, they suggested that we all be in one room which turned out wonderfully. I love how they were proactive about suggestions! Before we went in for our 55 minute ($100) restorative massages, one of the masseuses gave us a quick breakdown of what to expect (it was the first time for my friends). We got complimentary water and were delighted that they helped us take pictures for us! Yep - proactive! =) Gotta love it!
The room itself was huge and not TOO dim so that I couldn't see anything. I loved the space - very very relaxing and the music was great...I started to doze a bit. =)
The massage itself was superb, I was pleseantly surprised how much I got worked on my "problem areas" and that the massage itself was not super intense (you know the ones that make you scream, "omg, please stop!" --- which I've done before).
They even stuck around to hang with us and take pictures =).
My friends loved it and said they'd come back! The bachelorette herself, suggested we come more often! =)
Very friendly people, I would highly recommend. They also have yoga classes and salon type services (facials, medi/pedi etc). =) -

Per a reviewer's recommendation, I requested an energy reading. I'm a scientist, so I chalk much of this stuff up to pseudo science at best. But, I have to admit, that the massage therapist said some things that were accurate. It could have been simply a chance occurence, but added an interesting layer to the massage experience.
As for the massage itself, it was wonderful. I had the rejuvinating massage purchased at a discount through Goldstar. My massage therapist Toni really worked some massage magic. Like one of the reviewers wrote, the rooms are not sound proof. But that was not much of a distraction and this still ended up being one of the best massage experiences I've ever had. -

Cote D'Azur is one of my all time favorite places to be in Pasadena. There whole person approach to massage and body work treatments is exceptional. If you looking for an excellent, personal spa experience, Cote D'Azur is the place to go in Pasadena.
From the moment you walk in the door, the smell & the music set the tone. The interior design transports you out of Pasadena into another world immediately. A Great Escape that will return you to your own world at the end of your session healthier then when you entered. -

I gave my daughter a massage gift for today and wanted to share her review since you made a huge difference in her life today
This is her review of the spa:
I was welcomed by lovely ladies who put me at ease and offered delicious tea to drink while I waited patiently as they got my massage room ready for me. I was asked to choose which aromatherapy interested me most for the massage treatment and was able to preview the wonderful smell of the essential oils. I was then invited into the ready massage room by Carolyn Jaques who informed me on what the treatment entailed.
She knew right away when she saw me that I had digestive problems and trust issues which surprised me because I do not share my emotions with anyone. Throughout my massage treatment I was always in a state of relaxation and tranquility as Carolyn awoke in me sluggish energy I did not know I was carrying. I could actually feel butterfly-like energy fly about within me as she massaged my feet while she explained reflexology to me.
This experience for me has been life-changing and incredibly beneficial not just for me but also for those around me. I can go on and on about how experienced, talented, supportive, caring, knowledgeable and extremely professional Carolyn and her helpers are. I am sure there are many other massage therapists in the Los Angeles area who just as talented and qualified, but I will always go to Cote d'Azur for an energy massage by Carolyn because she understood how I was feeling inside and has really impacted my life profoundly. I call her an Angel because she has truly healed my body, soul and mind. -

I was having a low day and decided that I needed a massage. Found out about Cote D'Azur from Goldstar and then read the reviews on Yelp.
They could only fit me in for a 5 pm appointment on Saturday and I wanted a massage bad enough to agree. I got there 15 minutes earlier and liked what I saw, the high ceilings and the skylights. The place was very nice. One of the ladies offered me a glass of water that had both a cucumber and lemon flavor...."nice" I thought.
Think I finally met my massage therapist at 5 when she told me to go into this big room with a single massage bed. I lay face down waiting for her to start. She told me that she was going to do some "energy" work on me in our session. I was not sure what to expect but let her proceed.
I am used to hard massages, having had some really intense ones at the chinese reflexology places, but was prepared to have a more relaxing one here. However, the massage I was given was very mild, it felt more like hands gliding over my body. I did not feel any effort to release some of the knots I had in my neck area. The therapist stopped now and then to refresh the hot stones that she used on my hands and also placed some big Hot stones on a few other areas (they actually left very red marks on my body for quite a while after the massage session). I also felt some blowing over my body. Think this must be part of the "energy" work that she mentioned earlier.
When she finally ended the session, I was disappointed to see that the time was 5 mins before 6pm. The massage session was supposed to last between 60 to 75 mins and I didn't get the full length of time I was expecting. In fact, if you considered the moments when she stopped in between while performing the energy work, it was definitely less than 50 mins of actual massage.
I'll have to remember never to ask for the last appointment of the day, especially on a Saturday evening.
The session was supposed to cost $130, but I got a $50 discount because of the promotion on Yelp. The experience was definitely not worth $130. Don't think I'll be back again.Comment from Carolyn J. of Cote D'Azur 8/17/2010

I used my Groupon yesterday for the Majestic Spa package - worth every penny and more!!! Senica was my therapist and she was WONDERFUL! Thoughtful, responsive to my particular needs, and really skilled. The hot stones were amazing, she did really deep tissue work on my neck (which is chronically stiff and sore from a car accident some years back), and she spent more than the allotted time with me. As I was driving home I realized that I had no pain when I turned my neck to the left - amazing!!! I have no illusions that it takes steady treatments to realize long-term gains, but still - this massage was excellent and provided outstanding results! I'll definitely go back for more!!

I had a horrible experience at this spa. I made an appointment on valentine's day weekend, and the receptionist marked me for the wrong day. I told her how frustrated and disappointed I was (my boyfriend and I had been planning the weekend for a while), to which she replied, 'it's frustrating for all of us.' A very poor customer service response and horrible attitude. She then proceeded to call the owner, who informed me that she was 'at the Grammys' (why would I care if she was at the Grammys?), and that it was 'obvious they could not make me happy', and that she wished me a 'beautiful day'. Mind you, all of this was in a mocking tone. Overall, I had a horrible experience at this spa, I would not recommend it. It is understaffed and the employee/owner I did encounter were extremely unprofessional.

This is a hidden treasure in Pasadena. The place isn't visible from outside but once you walk in you have a feeling of peace. It has a very homey feeling to it which makes you relaxed as soon as you walk in. My boyfriend and I went here for a couple's massage. The owner gave him a deep tissue massage that he absolutely loved. He said she knew exactly what areas needed more attention. I had a swedish massage which was very relaxing. The room was very zen like and the music playing was very calming. After our massage we chatted with the owner for a while, she was a friendly and down to earth woman. If you want a good massage don't look anywhere else.

This isn't a review of the spa, but a review of Stephanie Cross, the Pilates instructor who now provides private instruction at Cote D'Azur on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. I've been working with Stephanie in various locations since summer 2005, and have been amazed by the results she and I have achieved together. She has an extraordinary commitment to Pilates as a discipline, and her knowledge of the body is superb. Stephanie gets to know each of her clients well, and tailors a program to push you hard without ever once risking injury. Best Pilates instructor in town, and my abs (and the rest of me) are the better and happier for her great inspiration and teaching.

We have just moved to the Pasadena area, and not knowing where to go, we found Cote D'Azure, here on Yelp. Boy were we both happy we did! My fiance treated us to a couples massage; hard to believe that we can both say this since we tend to be picky when it comes to massages, but we both concur these were the best massages we have ever had. We both have received many massages in the past due to sports related injuries and my fiance's major back surgery, and we know what to expect and know what to ask for to reduce tension and strain in our bodies; that being said, Cote D'Azure is an amazing gem. The room we had was large and beautifully decorated, with a mix of Indian, Native American, and African music playing in the background. I had the owner Darrin who applied firm, healing pressure to the areas which I needed concentrated attention; my fiance had Kim who was also fantastic and addressed all of his areas of concern. Additionally, Darrin and Kim took time after our massages to explain to us which stretching we should do individually to maintain the bodywork and gave us tips as to how to enjoy the rest of our afternoon. We both cannot wait to go back to Cote D'Azure.

I love this place. It is way beyond a typical spa experience. It feels like family, it feels like home. The space is beautiful and they have so much to offer. You can do yoga, then get a delightful massage or some amazing energy work. The masseuses seem to sense what you need the moment they see you. The owners are also some of the most amazing people you will ever meet and really know their stuff. I have been there on many occasions and every experience has been fantastic. Go there...I am sure you will love it too!!

Terrific massage in a peaceful, comfortable and relaxing setting. Had the 90 minute deep tissue delux with Senica, she was fantastic - strong hands, worked out knots and stretched tight muscles. Will most certainly be back!

The wifey and I have been here twice in the last 4 months. Both times we did the couple's massage - once for our anniversary and just last sunday for our Vday presents to each other. The place is above a bar and is kinda hard to find if you're just driving down Fair Oaks. Once you step in it's nice and tranquil. they give you some water with cucumber which is also a nice touch. The first time we went there was a big game on at the rose bowl so the bar downstairs was packed so we could actually hear cheering and music. Despite that the massage itself was nice. we were in a big room with 2 beds. they used a combination of swedish and deep tissue with hot and cold stone treatments. The second time we went was much better. no activity in the bar and this time I told the lady that I like a lot more pressure. Overall we've had a great experience there and with the Goldstar deal..... well that's the icing baby.

Update: I had a few more massage here which weren't as stellar, but the atmosphere and friendliness are still wonderful. After being around town and finding so many places that offer quality massage for about 1/2 of the price, I haven't been back for a while. As far as high-end spas they are lovely, and if you have the extra cash, the atmosphere, professionalism and unbroken English are above par.
I've been here 4 or 5 times and had wonderful massages from 3 different therapist. Each has their own unique style, but all have have great. They really work out the problems in your muscles, so not only is it enjoyable, its good for you! (Unlike many massages I've gotten other places that feel good but don't have any real effect). Some have even given me suggests on stretches, etc. to help improve the problems with my back. Prices are pretty standard, but they often have 1/2 off massages on Goldstar.
They often water and tea before and after the massage, and allow you to sit and relax on the deck without rushing you at all. Very peaceful atmosphere. -

I've had 3 massages from Cote D' Azur so far and I have to say it deserves 5 stars at a minimum. I received my massages from Carolyn and it is quite clear that she is a master of her art. She read my back like it was a map and was able to get the knotts out each time.
The general atmsophere and music is calming, soothing and as another person said takes you far away from Pasadena. It felt like a spiritual sanctuary. You have to check out this spa as there is no other like it. There aren't any jacuzzi's or steam rooms and you won't need it. Treat yourself to a massage that you'll never forget.....they are the best! -

i was hesitant to try the yelp special ($69 for the massage and stone facial) because i felt that within that hour, both massage and facial may be compromised; or because it is a special, the massage would be half-assed. i love to be proven wrong, because the session was rockin! the massage is thorough -- firm, deep-tissue, relaxing, and body-melting. i've never had hot stones or heated rice, but i have become a huge fan. i also had the privilege to be massaged by the owner of the spa, who is a talented healer and, after learning more about her, a fascinating woman. i appreciate her stories, her expertise, and how receptive she is with energy and the human body. afterwards, i was served a cup of tea the owner had made herself. ive deducted that since the customer service is attentive, the salon is beautiful, the massage had turned me into butter, that this experience deserved an overly generous tip. my back can't wait to come back~

I've only been here once, but I was impressed by the quality of the massage as well as the friendly, calming environment. What they lack in the frills of a B.W.-style day spa, they make up for in providing an *excellent* massage experience.

I've had the Indigo Massage with Carolyn three times so far, and each experience has left me feeling lighter, energized and smiling. Using aromatherapy and hot stones, she not only massages your body, she treats your energy, and provides insights for healing. Some massages leave me feeling sore or worked over -- not this one! I always feel rejuvenated and restored. Can't recommend it enough.
