When I need a costume I'm all about working with what I have and embellishing with cheap new accessories.  So this year I went spelunking in my closet and came up with:  bluish/purple dress, black heels, fishnets, long black wig, red bra....  

The next day I headed to Costumes Etc and purchased a $14 pilot's cap (which one of the owners let me in after hours to buy).  Then I went home and tried on the entire outfit.  Ugh...last year's cheap black wig wasn't doing it for me.  So I went back to Costumes Etc and bought a blond wig for about $45.  The Hulk went with and rented a large black belt and a real sword (with a protective tip) for about $40.  He added these items to the rest of his homemade costume:  Nike workout tights, ugly red robe ripped into a million pieces, hideous wig borrowed from co-worker skank, boots.  The Hulk also purchased a $2.50 fake gold tooth with a cross on it b/c in his mind pirates are Catholic.....WTF??  I thought the tooth with the dollar sign on it was funnier, but we eventually agreed it was a tad ghetto fab for a pirate.  (But then again, pirates really like money so...ARGH, bitch!)  So anyway....The finished product!  :  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

When I returned the rental items a few days later, the owner insisted on seeing pictures of our night out.  The verdict:  "smokin' hot pilot" and "rockin' pirate!"  

My verdict:  the owner is one cool dude and he runs THE VERY BEST costume shop in Atlanta!  We'll be back next year, or sooner...
