I LOVE Costco!  It is so hard to leave, though, without spending at least $100.  The Kirkland Signature brand(the Costco brand) products are amazing and affordable.  I buy all my toilet paper and paper towels here because you get the best bang for your buck.  They have seriously the best deals for everything--See's candies gift certificates, rotisserie chicken, chocolate chips(for baking), eggs, and I can go on and on.

Also, they have the best free samples.  You can basically make it into a meal--you just hit them all up!!!

Finally, the food court has the best deals!  $1.50 for a hot dog and soda or $1.99 for a slice of pizza....

Pretty much Costco has everything....and at a great price!

Holy balls. Never, ever on a weekend, again.

As I was circling 15 minutes to find a parking space, I felt that nervous twitch in the corner of my eye and my blood pressure rising, as I clenched my fist to prevent myself from punching everyone in that clustercuss of a parking lot.

From the ugly Asian chick who blatantly stole my space but couldn't give me eye contact after, to the numerous drivers who clogged up the road because they slipped into a 5th dimension where time & space, common traffic rules, and right-of-way did not apply, I've never witnessed such a display of rudeness and inconsiderate people. Am I at the DMV?

It almost makes the La Jolla Village Square Parking Lot look like it wasn't put together by a 4-year-old learning to play Connect the Dots.

So bottom line in re this Costco...

    Good For People Who:
    1. Love a high volume of obnoxious people in a poorly designed, confined space.
    2. Are willing to deal with a lot of bull$h!t to buy in bulk.
    3. Are training for a UFC and/or MMA fight and need a stimulus to make them super angry.
    4. Have been challenged to flag a whole parking lot full of cars with passive aggressive notes. (I would actually pay to see this.)

    Skip If:
    1. You value your sanity.
    2. You're allergic to dumb, inconsiderate people.

i believe this is the oldest Costco in SD...my favorite times are coming here on a rare Rainy day in SD.  the rain beating on the tin roof is such a cool sound!
my least favorite time to come here is on a hot day in summer...it is stuffy  and HOTTER INSIDE.
staff is awesome!!! they remember me and i am finally at the point that we don't need to show our card as we walk in.
they don't do as many mark downs as the costco off market street, but i still can troll the outside aisles to find things that have been marked down..
the parking SUX! it is always ridiculously crowded and scary...i just drive straight to the farthest point in the lot and walk to avoid all the chaos.
recently this location was in the news for having the lowest gas prices in SD...yup...7 cents cheaper than market street costco!

Usually Costco's are enormous stand alone structures, just a big warehouse. Most of that is correct about this 1. It's not really stand alone and I'm positive the parking lot wasn't designed to handle that much traffic, spaces because the lot is a cluster. Since I usually come from North I take Luna and enter through the shipping/receiving entrance, but if you must go through the main, prepare for a Christmas like crowd. Speed bumps every 20 feet and stop signs every 30. A hillside that looks like it's going to collapse baking in the sun and no real entrance makes this the worse Costco in San Diego, by far. Don't get me wrong the fooc court, café is excellent, maintained, fast, efficient, mostly spacious, but not on a rainy day, then it's a hurricane uncovered. The cart bonanza is where the entrance line crosses the exit line.

The products are good, the same as every other place, but honestly if you live North of Del Mar, go to Carlsbad and South of the 8 go to the 1 off Gateway, East go the 1 off Fenton. If your really in North County go to Vista.

Go during the week around the evening when there is less people! You can actually move around with your ginormous cart without having to internally curse at someone.

Everything is in bulk of course, but if you only have a two person household, you can calculate some stuff out and find out that some things are cheaper than actually going out. For example, getting some of those steaks, or pre-made enchiladas, cereal etc. Just the other night we had the shrimp cocktail package $10.00 that already comes with cocktail sauce and some lemons. I would say that there was a good amount of shrimp (maybe 20-25) If you go to a restaurant the shrimp cocktail itself would be about $10.00 and you would only get about 8 shrimp. Do the math, its cheaper to get some things at Costco.

New Item worth mentioning: Jamon Iberico FROM SPAIN. Spain and inspections in the U.S. have FINALLY approved it. So the package runs about $14.89 and it comes with about 12 slices. We bought a French artisanal bread, a garlic clove and some tomatoes. We made pan con tomate y aceite de Olives (tomato bread with olive oil) and placed the HEAVENLY jamon iberico from San Fermin (yes, where the Bulls run in Spain) and devoured them.

Great wine selection, good place to get vitamins in bulk, great organic salad mix (Babe's), Costco/Kirkland Water, filet mignon's, Tilamook cheese and the list can keep going. Try the Chicken Sonoma Salad on a crossaint for lunch!

Costco Snack Bar: $1.50 Polish or Hebrew Hot Dogs and it comes with a drink. Always great and cheap! Make sure you have CASH on you. The pizzas are cheap and great to feed a hungry family or kiddies that are coming over. Not too crazy about the chicken bake because it is so rich. Gelato at this location, not so great. Like the frozen yogurt better.

TIP: If you get a costco card and there is someone in your household (girlfriend, roommate, boyfriend, family member) you are able to get a card for them. Just renewed my card the other day and my boyfriend got a card for free. I think you just need proof that they have the same address :)

Yes, can't get out of there without spending $100, but if you do the math and you are good about planning out meals, you actually save  money. GET THEIR GAS, it's super cheap!

This Costco is nostalgic to say the least. It is by far the oldest warehouse I have ever visited....and I have been to many Costco warehouses from coast to coast. The lady that checks your membership cards at the front entrance told me she had been working there since 1988 and the warehouse had been there since 1976. You could definitely tell that....I really liked the "old school" feel to the place. It does feel a bit crowded compared to the newer warehouses.....and that is why I didn't give it 5 stars. The food court area is wild to say the least.....outdoors....and consistently packed I was told. The warehouse staff also makes sure you don't ever have to walk far to get a basket....they line them up right by the door.....and I mean right by the door....not next to the entrance....or on the side....but right in front....and the staff consistently keeps them coming so again you don't have to walk to get one. The food court also sells Gelato Ice cream.....in 3 flavors....and you can get 3 scoops for 1.50.....that's right.....1.50.....I couldn't believe that....because this may be the only one in the nation that does that.

The items in the warehouse are great and of course since it is in California it has plenty of unique items that you could only find or use in Cali. Now with that being said it also has gas which is a favorite perk of mine because Costco has some of the cheapest gas prices in the nation even by California Standards....LOL. Warning though....the setup and parking here is horrible to say the least....so bring your wallet.....bring your appetite....but remember to also bring your patience when you visit here and as always.....Eat, Drink, and be Merry my Friends!!!!!!

OOOOOOO yesssss....one more thing I found amazing about this place....they also have side by side stalls with baskets located in them right in the center of the store...so if you forgot to bring one in from outside....or you didn't think you needed one but discovered that you did...LOL....they got you covered.

Not many people know about this Costco, easy in and out. No lines and friendly clerks. The parking lot is not as big as other Costcos so it may appear to be crowded but it isn't. Plus,,, they often open 10-15 minutes early.

I flash my Executive Membership like a BOSS.

Surprisingly not as crowded as people say! Maybe I can at an odd time? And I found parking, but then again I parked quite far. Exercise is good for you, and much easier to leave as well.

Super friendly staff, I didn't even wait in line to pay as I lugged all my stuff (I don't believe in carts at Costco) from one end to the other. That's right - you don't see me pushing around carts loaded with food. I go to Costco for fun. FOR FUN.

Samples galore and there was enough for everyone! Mmm creme brûlée cake samples! And to finish off, I had the $1.50 3 scoops of gelato! Couldn't finish it by myself though ;/

This place is always so crowded and parking lot is always super full, but they're stocked well and everyone's pretty helpful - especially in the auto department.  Plus, you can grab some nummy gelato out front.  The pizza is good too.  This a great place to buy things in bullk, obviously.  They have some great gift options too.  Just got some fresh lobster tail from here not too long ago.

I have been coming here since back when this place was a Price Club.  I like the good deals on stuff you don't always find in a grocery store.  Lately I've been stocking up on items I need that are featured in their coupon flyer.  I love their vanilla ice cream.  One thing I picked up today I'm excited to try is fried turkey.  I'm going to have it instead of the roast turkey I normally have.

One of the exciting things about shopping here are the cool free samples!

This review is specifically for the wireless kiosk inside the Costco, but the whole place is great.

I was in the market for a new phone and came to the kiosk twice with questions before eventually purchasing. I spoke with the same employee all 3 times (Justin, he's awesome) and he was so helpful & knowledgeable. He gave me the information straight without trying to sell me anything extra or giving me any gimmicks. When I finally decided what I wanted it did take a little while, but that was Verizon's fault for keeping Justin on hold. They gave me my new phone & even offered to set it all up for me but I figured I was tech savvy enough to do that myself and Justin had done enough for me. If I ever need a new plan or phone again I will be back!

WOW, this is a Costco?! I would have never guessed... Looks like an old run down warehouse.

You get here thru a secret [passageway] road off Morena Blvd - one road I have never really ventured on. Not very convenient to get to like the Costcos in North County I usually frequent. Definitely not as nice or updated. This Costco def needs a makeover.

Open and ample parking, and wasn't very busy since it was near closing. Food court located outside to grab a snack before shopping.

    Met the needs...

I kinda miss going to this OG Costco - it was my "home" Costco when I lived in La Jolla.

Same stuff inside, blah blah, you know the drill.  But what really sets this one apart is the food court!!  YES, the gelato is amazing.  YES, the carne asada bake kinda sucks, but it sucks at every Costco.  Most importantly, the food court employees are the http://best.com.

If you want a whole pizza on a Friday evening, make sure to call it in!!  Or you'll be stuck waiting 45 mins and forced to go inside, where somehow "Oh yeah I need Q-tips... only $3 for 2000? Sweet!" will turn into a $150 cart full of stuff.

OMG yes. After not getting their gelato for the last 6 months, I got it again today after a hard morning paddle and nearly inhaled the whole thing while having a foodgasm. An old dude sitting near me creepily oogled while I smiled and slobbered through the 3 scoops of gelato and munched away at the cone. Seriously? $1.50? Man. I need to start getting it every Sunday after outrigger practice... Or maybe I should go every day, like I did last summer.

I always love the samples too. Too many kids trying to cut me in line though... I just glared.

Seriously, who doesn't like Costco?!?! With all the sample days, bulk deals, cheap food (hot dog and soda deal for $1.50!!!), discount movie tickets, and the variety of products (they sell about everything!), who doesn't like it? I admit, every now and then the lines can get crazy and when you're in the actual warehouse, you may feel like a tiny little ant trying to find its way amongst all those products (with the never-ending fear that if there was an earthquake, where the heck would you run to with all those huge stacks above your head?? Do they have a chance of falling on you?).

Ok, what's special about this Costco? The GELATO! I drove all the way from Orange County to check out this Costco's gelato (now that's dedication... just kidding, I was just in the area). They had three available flavors (mixed berry, pistachio, and stacch.a....something (vanilla with chocolate bits). I got 2 scoops of the stacchaha.... and 1 scoop of pistachio. It was only 1 scoop of pistachio because I tasted this pistachio gelato at another place and it tasted like medicine! The brown coloring of Costco's pistachio gelato didn't give me any relief. Surprisingly, it was really good, so good I regretted only getting 1 scoop of it! Man, why can't they have this at all Costco's???

A celebrated memory of mine.... One time, when I was really tight on money but oh-so hungry but didn't have cash to buy anything to eat. I got out my trusty Costco card, went inside, ate plenty of samples, and left a happy camper. :)

Costco always knows how to save the day!

This Costco is like ahead of the pack. I'm mostly referring to their food court. One of the first locations to get the carne asada bake and gelato. Now the carne asada bake sucks, but that's besides the point.

On the outside, it looks pretty depressing, but you're not coming to Costco b/c of its fancy designs.. You come because you think that you're able to eat 9182409128490 Ling Ling potstickers in the next week! Oh, and to mooch off of the free samples.

Great prices here. Only problem is when you and your roommates don't communicate about what you're buying, you end up with ZERO freezer space. ZERO. But it's still totally worth it! And their frozen foods are pretty good. I love going to the food department in the back. And alcohol is pretty cheap too! What a wonderful place.

Going back to the food court. I love love love their polish sausages. For $1.62 after tax, so ridiculously cheap. I load mine up with relish and onions. The carne asada bake sucks. Not appetizing at all, especially in San Diego, just get a carne asada burrito, it's only like 50 cents more but so much more delicious. To recap: carne asada bake, not worth it. Polish sausage, totally worth it! Their churros are hit or miss. They're twisted, so it's usually a little harder than the ones at amusement parks. I usually pass on them, but sometimes I get a craving for churros. Tried their gelato once, but it was awhile ago. I think it was okay, will have to try again. At $1.50, that's a price you can't beat!

I'm honestly not sure how they've managed to stay in business with such cheap foods, but they do. And it makes me super happy after each meal. What a steal. Their pizza is pretty generic, it's pretty good for the price. I don't usually get a slice, but I've been to many lunches that just buy Costco pizza.

Forever live Costco! Forever live Corporate America! Forever live 5 pound frozen foods!

Came here for cheap gas, and the machine refused to authorize my debit card. I called my bank and they told me that they weren't even receiving an authorization request. The attendant said he couldn't help me run the card, so I guess he is more of a janitor or crossing guard than an attendant...

I had to limp my seriously fuel-deficient car into PB to get gas because the machines at the pumps here just would NOT work. The debacle also made me late to work. Thanks for nothing Costco gas! I'll stick to the MV location where I've never had a single issue.

Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow. Yes, That shit is annoying. I'm hoping that we won't be hearing that song anymore now that the Super Bowl is over! (Although I'm sure we'll be hearing the Green & Yellow version)

There are so many versions of the song on the internet repping different teams. Purple and Yellow for the Lakers. Blue and Yellow for the Chargers. With all these different and creative (although annoying) songs online, I thought why not make my own.

Here is my version, Red & Yellow. Not for the damn KC Chiefs, but for two of my favorite condiments. Ketchup and Mustard =)

Btw, this is my review for Costco (mainly the food court). Done in my once popular "Freestyle Friday" form.

Everything is big and bulky here, sorta like some of the customers. Maybe that's why they made parking difficult, so people can park far and get some exercise. Maybe?

This is the stupidest review I've ever written.

I don't know what the big deal is about Costco gas. It's a little cheaper but certainly not worth the time and frustration to save a dollar per tank. I'm an impatient man and my time used to be worth more than a dollar. I feel like an old lady that will spend $2.00 In gas driving around town looking for the cheapest price then saving .50 cents. Wow, this really is the worst review ever. I'm hungry. I'm tired. Did I leave the iron on? I think we saved about .96 cents on a 12 gallon tank of gas. Over and out.

Let's be honest. I'm only here for the samples. I admit it. Samples and a whole crap load of toilet paper and a variety of frozen entrees. They do have good deals on their televisions compared to other electronic stores. Even though the lines seem ridiculously long, they move quicker than you think. Costco is a great place to stock up on basic items. Their movie ticket deals are good. In fact, most of the entertainment packages are reasonable.

It's just like any other Costco. Super busy, crazy people trying to park, and great hot dogs and chicken bakes.

San Diego has made me HATE Costco. This one's not as horrifyingly crowded as Mission Valley, but it's still frustrating. The parking lot is cramped, the store is dingy, and the Sample Ladies (especially Mary) are snarly.

Today, though, pretty much settled it. I'm done with Costco.

I went in this afternoon to refill printer ink. Easy enough. I dropped the cartridge off, and the girl said it would be about an hour. I wandered the store for awhile, and wound up back in the printing department. When I asked for my refilled cartridge, though, the fun began. After a good 15 minute search, the employees admitted that they gave my cartridge to someone else. "But I have my ticket," I pointed out. ""Oh," came the reply, "Yeah, we don't check those." Nice. The store manager finally agreed to reimburse me for the cost of a new ink cartridge, but since they don't sell that particular cartridge model at Costco, I have to buy it elsewhere and THEN bring my receipt back. Way to totally waste my time, guys. Awesome.

Costcooooo!!!! =))). Yay for cheap stuffs in large quantities! Like toilet paper. And their whole pizza is only $9.95+tax and the pizza is humungo compared to other chains' "large pizza". =DDD Nomnomnommmm.  I usually get pepperoni or combo pizza and it's totally worth it!

12 muffins for $6.49! Who can beat thatttt!? And I loveeee their chocolate muffinss ahhh for cravingssss. I'm so excited to eat them...

...I think I mainly like costco because of the freeeee samples and the bulk food and other things that don't expire hahaha. =)

This location has a gas station AND it's not quite as busy as others since it's not off of a freeway or anything like that =).

I think this must be one of the oldest Costco's in San Diego.  It seems old and small compared to most.  The parking lot also sucks and is virtually impossible to get into during prime shopping times.  They do sell gasoline, but the set up is so bad that it can be difficult to even get gas.

The only reason I use this location is because it's close to work and convenient.

WTF COSTCO parking  lot/drivers?! SERIOUSLY! Gah! Driving through this place is a fricken disaster. Everyone is so cut-throat about getting a parking spot during prime-time hours...which is EVERY HOUR.

Anyways, other than the parking, the food in the outside food court thing is fairly legit. I like the gelato that they often offer. The food is always nice and hot and tastes fresh. I like that. I do NOT like that they dont accept credit card though. Eh. You win some, you lose some.

The selection of what they have inside the warehouse is pretty good, but can be sporadic. They'll have something one week and then wont have it for the next three.

If you're looking for cheap movie tickets, restaurant certificates and certain theme park tickets, this Costco has a GREAT selection.

I still feel like this Costco is better than the one in Mission/Fashion Valley. Plus, it's closer, so despite the shitty parking, I shall return for my chicken breasts and bread!

Love this Costco.  Big with lots of stuff.  Full of options.  Great clothes.  Overall happiness.

I love costco food! Especially the chicken bake, but I hate it when it gets dried under those heat lamps =[

But other than that, the gelato is good, the pizza is good, hot dog is awesome, but the churro needs some work!

This place is dangerous. Luckily for me, I only go when my mom is in town visiting.

Find everything from food, alcohol, vitamins, beauty supplies, paper goods, jewelry, clothing, electronics, gift certificates, and everything in between...

Great for snacks for work- especially since lately they have expanded their vegan friendly options. Perfect for parties- from the cheap booze to the frozen (or fresh) appetizers you can purchase. I always purchase some frozen goods & cheese, such great prices!

Sample ladies are everywhere to entice you into purchasing something you originally didn't even think about- it's worked on me a few times!

The food court is great too- cheap eats. Love the pizza, very berry smoothie, gelato, and churro the best, obviously not all at once though, ha!

If you ever want to know what it's like driving in a battlefield, come to the Morena Costco and battle the soccer moms with their vans and suv's for the precious parking spots.

If you don't want to deal with this, come later at night when all of the kids are back home taking all of their parents time.

As for the store, it's Costco! It's either in packs of one or 300 and something you bought last week might not be there this week, but they do have great deals on EVERYTHING.

Basically, you should know what you're getting in to.

Parking close to the entrance is pretty tough. A lot of people go to this Costco. This Costco is a little smaller than some of the other Costco's I've been to in Norcal, but it's still pretty big. Costco sells everything in bulk, which makes it all cheaper. :)

Tip #1: Remember to grab a coupon book from the membership desk if you forget to bring yours.

    Tip #2:
Step 1: Come here around lunch time.
Step 2: Go through each aisle and eat all their samples.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 if still hungry.

Tip #3: Don't forget your membership card... They won't let you in without it. Also, they only types of payment they accept are American Express, debit card, and cash.

Not the newest Costco in So Cal, in fact I think it might have been one of the originals.  It's a pain in the ass to find, and it's actually made from old warehouse building material from 1912...  Just kidding..
They DO have gelato at the food court, and in the back of the store, an area where they make fresh Belgian Chocolate.
