8 reviews for Costa Mesa Marriott Suites
stayed here with my mom and her cousin back in march. Room was great met my expectations, beyond i felt like i was staying at a vacation home in hawaii. the bedroom was enclosed by french doors, the bathroom huge for a hotel room. and the bathrub alone was heaven in a hotel..well almost. it definitely gave me an idea for when i move into a home of my own one day. and there was a living room also in our room with a kitchen/cooking area. Luckily for us the hotel staff provided us with not one fridge loaded with goodies but a second one so we could store all of our goods and then a coffee maker, microwave and a sink...when have you ever stayed in a marriott that had all of that...??
the staff was wonderful. very assisting, pleasant and friendly. I dont know how they put up with all the people staying there sometimes, I'm sure they have there good and bad days. But what can I say much respect to those who've earned it in the hospitality industry.
the price was great but thats bc my room was discounted.
A pretty standard Marriott. Rooms were clean, large with nice linens. The staff was nice and the gym was one of the better hotel gyms I've seen.
Nothing spectacular, but so much better than some of the business hotels I have to stay in.
It's well situated in Orange County, close to the 405 and South Coast Plaza. I'd stay here again if business brings me back.

Comfy room. Great linens. Great bartender although I was a bit put off that when he was pouring my Jack on the rocks, he was measuring like he was working with plutonium. Dude, pour it. Let a little extra splash in. You're not in the liquor business, it's show biz. Let it flow.
Ah wait. maybe the Mormon influence is working overtime here.

It may seem odd for me to preface this 5-star review by saying that I will probably never have the need or cause to stay here again but ... what the hell. It's definitely got a soft spot in my heart forever.
Here's why I probably won't be staying here again:
1) No longer puppy friendly. As of 2007, we were told that their pet-stay policy would no longer be in effect. Boo.
2) My parents are now letting me and the boy stay at their home in Huntington Beach
So why the 5 stars?
Back in X'mas of 2006, the boy proposed to me in one of the suites. After returning from X'mas dinner at my parents', he had tried to get me to go on a moonlit stroll along the man-made lake behind the hotel. We had taken a lovely walk there in the morning after brunch., but this time I refused ... too much duck poop along the shores and I was afraid I'd get it all over my shoes in the dark. Then he tried to get me to go down to the hotel bar. Again I refused. I was tired, I had had a little too much to drink at dinner; all I wanted to do was go to bed.
Finally, we found ourselves in our PJs, tucked in the suite's California King -- very large and comfy beds -- making small talk when... all of a sudden... there's this small box being waved in front of my face...
Eeeeeee!!!!

Really great little hotel!
We stayed here for four days while my boyfriend's sister performed in a Broadway show at the Orange County Performing Arts Center right down the street and like DS said...it's within walking distance of a LOT of stuff:
OC Performing Arts Center
Starbucks
Robeks
South Coast Plaza
TGI Fridays
and much, much more!
About a 20 minute drive via either Jamboree to Newport Beach or the 73 Toll Rd. to Laguna via Laguna Canyon Drive...
The beds are PHENOMENALLY comfortable...feather beds on a firm mattress, great pillows. The suites are basically two rooms: bedroom with french doors and a living area with a couch. Tv's in both rooms...and there's a fridge.
The restaurant down stairs is so-so but room service is top notch in terms of the staff caring about ya.
The pool is also nice...towels are provided!
Parking is $14 a day if you stay the night...

For a Marriott, this hotel has very nice rooms. I like how the rooms have a separate living room, bathroom, and living room. Gives it a much better feel of home than most hotels. Gym is average, and service is ok at best. They constantly don't have my information in the system for some reason, dont always credit my Marriott Points there.
No Concierge room is a downer though.

Nice suite and comfortable. I think this is a business motel on weekdays so it is best for family on weekends.
Within walking distance to mall, restaurants, and concerts.
Pay for parking. Check rates before staying as they may vary with time.
We had an excellent stay here with our whole group.
The front desk staff was friendly, the atmosphere in the whole hotel was very quiet, laid-back, clean, and nicely decorated (though the carpeting in the hallways, while new, looks like thousands of vomiting spirals. Don't look down!) We didn't try the pool but it seemed to be good for tanning and people-watching, and there are some very attractive people in that part of California. The suites are very cute - small but efficiently laid out - with a living room/office area including fridge, microwave (I think), bar sink, counter, cabinets, desk, TV, and sofabed. The bathroom opens up onto the living room with one door and to the bedroom with a small pocket door. Narrow French doors connect the bedroom and living room. Every suite includes a big bay window off the LR and a small balcony with a sliding door off the BR. That was great for us as we hate air conditioning and love having access to fresh air. I thought the lock on the sliding door was a little sketchy considering it was accessible from the 1st floor roof (we were on the 2nd floor out of about 13), but we never saw anyone out on the roof nor did we really expect to. But the lock worked fine. If somebody really wanted to get in the room that way, I suppose they could figure it out. But it would probably be easier to access the room by the main door with a stolen pass key if one were hellbent on breaking in.
There was a little noise coming from the floor in the LR - sounded like a bad belt or shaking duct in the AC system, or perhaps from the kitchen below. But it didn't really bother us. The showerhead has a very wide dispersal, which made rinsing difficult but not impossible.
The bed linens felt like 100% cotton, very important. There was a genuine feather mattress topper on the king sized mattress, but it was so soft and cushiony we felt like we were sinking into quicksand, so we just took it off and put it in the closet, and the mattress itself was perfectly comfortable.
We were there for 3 nights, and we kept the DND sign up so the housekeeping staff didn't come in to make up the room, but they brought us tons of towels when we asked, and called to check on us when we didn't. Can't beat that.
The only thing that keeps this from being a 5-star is the restaurant, which, while certainly adequate to meet basic breakfast and burger needs, is no more than that. Breakfast was actually pretty good, with a small buffet and eggs cooked to order. The lunch menu looked kind of limited and microwaveable, so we had lunch twice at the restaurant across the courtyard in the Wyndham hotel, which was not spectacular but had a little better selection.
There is a full bar, which we were too jet-lagged to enjoy, but the rest of our band seemed to like hanging out there.
The best thing about it was the value: $103 per night for a 3-night stay and a very comfortable, upscale hotel experience. Of course is was $15 extra per night to park. But overall it had all the amenities and advantages of an expensive urban hotel without any hassle. I doubt that value will last, so enjoy it while you can.
