this zoo is so cute and fun but not for a day trip
we spend maybe an hr here and they have tables you can pack a lunch take a break at...
all the animals are kept clean - the park is clean too
parking can get a little crazy at times plan for this
they also have movie night in the park in the summer
also at x-mas time they fix up the zoo with lights -
a great place for kids and the family

I'd say the other reviews are pretty dead-on. It's free. The scenery is nice. It's a great place to kill an hour or two. There are some cool animals -- I liked seeing the owls.

You shouldn't expect to spend hours here, you shouldn't expect Brookfield or Lincoln Park, but it's a lovely setting, there are animals and educational exhibits, and if you have some kids to entertain, it's not a half-bad idea.

This place is GREAT to bring the kids. Went for the first time today. Beautiful area to walk around in! It's free.. Give them a donation in a donation box if you can! It will only take you about an hour and a half to walk through the whole thing and to get some snacks.

Very well worth the trip and the time. Tons of shade there too for those hot days! The park is very well kept. I can't say enough about this place! We went on a Sunday morning, about 10am. No problems at all with parking, no crowd.

Disclaimer - You can not compare Cosley to the two major zoos in the Chicagoland area.  It comes nowhere close to Brookfield Zoo or Lincoln Park Zoo.  If you do you'll be disappointed.

With that in mind, Cosley is a nice local zoo and friendly on the pocketbook (free).  I agree with Nicole L. that it's a nice place for a shutterbug snap a shot or two.  I liked it's low-key atmosphere which made for a relaxing visit.

I saw no issues with parking though I don't know that I was there during "peak hours."

All in all, I highly recommend Cosley Zoo.

Cosley is a great place to bring the kids without breaking the bank since admission is free. It's also fun for a photographer looking for a quick fix.

Situated on five acres, there's a barn with a rare American Cream Draft horse, llamas, goats, cows and other farm animals such as sheep. There's a big pond with lots of ducks, as well as exhibits with white-tailed deer, red foxes, raccoons, a coyote, several species of birds, and rabbits.

Tip: Parking is limited and the zoo gets very crowded on the weekends. Unless you get there when it opens, be prepared to use the secondary lot down the street by the sports complex.

The price is right and they have a penny squisher.  My rating is a value to fun ratio - very high because it's free.  Wouldn't spend all day there, but it's fun for an hour or so if you're looking for something to do with the kids .  And any place with a penny squisher rates high with my kids!

Small zoo, that's FREE and great for toddlers.  We had no issues with parking on a Sunday at 10AM.  The place was pretty much empty.
