I love the Cosi flatbread and they make a mean salad.  This location's across the street from Bryant Park (closer to 5th Ave), so of course it's a madhouse during lunchtime on a weekday!  I came in and was immediately swept away by the line (two lines: one for salad and the other for sandwiches).  It's quite confusing because when you go to the registers at the end to pay, you can't immediately tell who is in line to pay and who is hanging out waiting for their sandwich.  Finally, after you pay, you can escape to a table in the back to eat your lunch in peace.  When it's time to leave, then you have to fight your way through the crowd of people at the register and in the salad and sandwich lines.  Very intense lunch experience.

Firm potato pieces, decent clam pieces, the clam chowder itself has a orignal flavor about it. If you're tired of the run-of-the-mill campbell's-flavored chowders, this Cosi clam chowder could hit the spot nicely. However, I can't pinpoint the herbs they use to give this clam chowder it's unique twist (my discerning palate is hibernating :(

Conclusion: if you're tired of the the regular clam chowders, cosi's clam chowder will impress you without breaking your bank. If you're looking for different and exceptional, keep looking elsewhere.

With regards to their bread that comes with their soups, I expected better. I wasn't impressed, and I would not pay money for this type of bread.

I came to this midtown Manhattan Cosi location (across the street from the New York Public Library and Bryant Park) today. It was the height of lunch hour, and when I went in, it seemed to be very crowded. The line looked super long. However, what appeared to be one giant line was actually divided into two very organized lines -- one for salads and one for all other foods. The salad bar staff members directly helped the customers ordering salads. A waiter took orders from the people standing in the other line for sandwiches and hot food.

This Cosi, due to its location, I suppose, runs like a well-oiled machine. It's extremely fast and efficient! I was truly impressed with the speedy service. Additionally, there was a decent amount of seating available!

I got the Cosi Signature Salad, which is lettuce with nuts, pears, dried cranberries, cheese, and grapes. It is really delish, and it comes with Cosi's yummy bread -- hot and right out of the oven! (Bonus: bread samples were available to try while you were standing on line.) I got this salad plus a bottled water and it was $10.50 -- which is a little pricey, but it was Midtown, and it was a pretty giant salad. Cosi has a lot of locations, and is speedy enough to be a good, healthier alternative to traditional "fast food."
