The newness and "coolness" of Cosi has worn off since it was a special treat during my college days in East Lansing and I had never before been. I think the food is still good, but just not as special as before. I also find my usual Chicken TBM lacks consistency. Sometimes it's just right, other times there is barely a spec of vinaigrette on it, and sometimes there is waaay too much dressing.

Two things I do really like about Cosi are the sandwich/beverage card and the breakfast offerings. It seems like everyone has discontinued their sandwich cards (panera, subway, etc.) but Cosi still has one and I think its a great way to reward loyalty. I certainly enjoy getting my FREE sandwich! I also like the breakfast, it is priced really well and super filling. A little bonus, they seems to count the $3 bagel sandwich as a full entree credit.

All-in-all, its a reliable lunch or breakfast place, but nothing that will absolutely blow you away.

Cheesecake makes everything better...

I was feeling a little down today, so I went to the Cosi near work to indulge myself in their $1 cheesecake. Today it was caramel pecan-yum! It's not always $1, it's a limited time thing where the dollars goes to charity, which is great itself. I didn't even know they had cheesecake until I got the email a couple weeks ago informing me of the cheesecake promotion. Sweet!

Normally, I would go to Cosi for lunch--salad or a sandwich. It's definitely a treat, not a regular thing, because $7 for a sandwich or a salad is pretty steep in my book. But, it's always a great experience, as I've never tried anything I did not like. Favorites: Buffalo Blue, Chicken TBM, Signature Salad, etc.

The bread is tops...Whole grain flatbread--yummy.

The service is always pretty good. The line system seems pretty efficient. If you're dining in, they'll give you a number card so they can bring the order to your table when it's ready. Otherwise, you go to the back counter and they'll call your number and you can pick up your order. Usually goes pretty quickly.

Again, my only gripe is it's a tad expensive. I used to come here a lot more often when the Red Eye would have $2 off coupons, which would bring the prices down to something I would more realistically pay. Unfortunately, they don't seem to run those coupons any more. Bummer.

I was walking around downtown looking for a quick place for a late lunch and came across this familiar place.  It's in a corner location behind Magnificent Mile so it's easy to spot.  Then I realized that this place used to be at Valley Fair next to Macy's Women for a short time.  It was connected to Macy's and to the mall.

I had the half Grilled Chicken TBM (tomato, basil, mozzarella which I realized after I ordered the food....uh duh!) sandwich and half Greek salad.  It comes on their specialty flatbread which reminds me of a pita, not your typical sandwich.  The food came out pretty quick and tasted the way I remembered except a little too much on the vinaigrette dressing on the sandwich.  It was nice to eat here as there isn't one back home in the Bay Area anymore.

I stopped in Cosi this morning on my way to run a couple of errands. I tried a "create your own omelet sandwich" with mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers on a croissant along with a cappuccino. The sandwich was tasty, the cap was good too and it was a bit less in price than Starbucks. Also, it's a nice touch that they bring your order to your table if you're dining in.
I'll be back to Cosi.

Ist time to Cosi. We loved the steak and the signature salads. The whole wheat flatbread was so good. It was right near our hotel and plan on returning.

I'm torn on how to write this review because every morning I go through mental turmoil persuading myself not to go in and get a cream cheese bagel and a latte... the coffee is better than most, the bagels are the best I've found and I won't be hungry again until 3pm, and the whole lot costs $4.

So, taking shelter from the rain to find lunch I went in here today after running away from the bitchy lady in Nordstrom (I literally hid behind a rack of dresses, I had forgotten to go pick up something I had on hold and she seemed like the type who would hold it against me).

They had run out of bagels, which was very upsetting. But I thought given the high standard of their bagels, their sandwiches would surely be ultra amazing, since they are 4 times the price. Uh, no. The maths of economics has always passed me by and it did so in this case also. A sandwich and a coffee now cost me $12 and the sandwich kind of made me nauseous. It was wasabi beef, and had all this weird dressing dripping out of it, the lettuce was floppy and stale. The bread was ok, but I really really yearned for a bagel and my $6 back.

Plus points for letting me sit there and read my book for nigh on an hour and a half, and for the sandwich being ready before I had even managed to take my coat off and sit down.

Moral of the story: don't run away from scary Nordstrom people, the result is a bad lunch. And Cosi: please make more bagels.

Five stars for the free wi-fi. But there are a couple of problems with it.

1) If you use Outlook or similar email software your outgoing emails may not be sent.

2) Not many outlets for power.

The staff is very friendly and the food is good and there are healthy options. However it is pricey for a cafe. Sandwich and a drink with tax will set you back about 10-12 clams.

Maybe I am cheap? Or poor...

I just experienced a sandwich miracle.

Running late back to work from the gym, famished and having forgotten to bring my lunch, I popped into Cosi for a sammich.

In the span of time between when my cashier handed me my change back and I shoved it in my wallet, some staff member presented me with the sandwich I ordered ONE SECOND EARLIER.

Damn!

(oh, and it's a fire roasted veggie and really tasty!)

Didn't know Cosi serves breakfast.  We came here for breakfast since it's near our hotel (Marriott-Downtown).

The Italian omelet sandwich was good...it's a combo that comes with a coffee about $4. WARNING: You can't change the coffee to tea-you actually have to pay for the tea even you don't want coffee!! Weird....

I"m writing a review because one this place is delicious. And Two: Noah B. didn't think it existed and kind of thought I was crazy when I took him here for lunch. So Ha! Its real! its kind of pricey for a lunch but the sandwiches and salads are awesome. Which equals worth it in my book. I've never had the s'mores dessert that I've heard about. I wonder if its seasonal.

I had the Breakfast Bagel and a coffee.  some old stuff, i would much prefer to have the same from Dunkin Donuts.
The wifi was also sucky, over a minute to load every page. I would rather watch paint dry.
I will come again to try their lunch sandwiches and will update my review if needed.

I've been here a couple times, the first time just for some cheesecake (which was above average) and just today for lunch.

The bread is delicious and I'm a big fan of all of the vegetarian options.  And they even pointed them out to me with a lovely little green leaf icon next to each vegetarian menu item!  Such convenience.

Their breakfast items look yummy and I'm looking forward to sampling the full range of veggie foods.

I have never been disappointed going here.  I'm a big fan of their bread & although their sandwiches are pricey, I find myself willing to pay for it.  Also good is the tomato spread & the hummus.  They never put too much or too little.

& if you're a people watcher, it's fun to sit in the outdoor seating area.  We witnessed a near-brawl down the street at Jimmy John's the other day.  Entertainment!!!

Ed. Note:  I tried one of their salads here the other day ... very good.  The strawberry cream soda was delicious & really hit the spot on that hot ass day.  Also, the employees were crazy nice.  I like that a lot.

I have a hate affair with Cosi. I've had shitty service at Cosi at every single one on the East Coast I've been to, except the one at South Station in Boston, and I fear it is only a matter of time.

However, I was frickin' hungry today and wanted a sandwich. Their sandwiches are okay; a little pricey for what you get, in my opinion. I think Panera is much better than Cosi.

The service today wasn't anything to write home about but it wasn't the God awful service I always affiliate with Cosi.

The food is so worth the price, especially the bread! I think it might be my favorite bread in the world! The Shanghai Chicken salad is awesome, and its really big (and still pretty low on calories, as salads really should be right??)

Another thing I love here though is that you can make smores, and they are actually really good (not campfire quality but close!) Its a really fun place to stop for dessert- I came here once after going to dinner at Blue Water Grill because none of their desserts sounded as good as toasted marshmallows! I would recommend trying it out sometime if you're shopping in the area- it would be a nice break!

I LOVE this place.

I've loved everything I've tried so far, but my favorite is the chicken pesto melt.  It has a great sun-dried tomato spread... No matter what you get though, you MUST get the whole grain bread, it's wonderful.

I'm not a huge sandwich person, but these are so perfect and not too bready and heavy like your typical sandwich.

I don't know what it is about Cosi that rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's that the bread for their sandwiches is super thin and kind of tasteless. Maybe it's that their salads are almost completely composed of wilted romaine.

But for WHATEVER reason, I still go there. Maybe because it's close to where I work. Maybe because I not-so-secretly love the buffalo chicken sandwich and wish it was on better bread. Maybe it's the only place around me that sells Snapple Blueberry Iced Tea.

In short: it's not my favorite place for lunch, but I still go.

EDIT: I went there on Tuesday because I needed something that would fill me up for many hours and I blanked and couldn't think of anything else. I ordered the bacon, turkey, cheddar melt and ended up with....something completely different. I think they gave me the roasted turkey and brie instead. It was a good sandwich, and I ate it anyway because I didn't want to deal with it. But seriously, Cosi. Get on the damn ball.

It was the first time here and reminded me of Panera Bread. I had the TMB which I really enjoyed. I really like the flat bread it was on. It was a little  crowded but we were able to get seats right away. I'll definitely be back.

When I first moved into the area, I was excited to have a Cosi nearby- gotta love the TBM! For the first week, I had lunch there a couple of times....

However, I will NEVER eat there again! I was walking by last night and had a large disgusting rat scurry across the sidewalk right in front Cosi's doors (and in front of my feet....)

On our first day in the city, my fiance and i stepped into this place simply cause we were starving and tired...not a bad choice. The bread is awesome. Somewhere between a pretzle and flatbread. Its all about the bread...which i could imagine burning out on at some point. Send one of these places out to LA, it would do well i think.

Cosi is a great spot for a quick lunch. I have a love affair with the chinese chicken-style wrap... chicken, carrots, lettuce and this tangy asian-style sauce. I ask for extra dressing... it's so good. And that crispy crunchy bread is a pleasant change from the normal boring bread you get at Subway, Jimmy John's or Potbelly. I love it! Great salads and coffee drinks, too.

I agree that the service at this Cosi is better than other locations I've been to.  The lunch food is decent, but a little bit overpriced.  My current beef is that I tried the peach yogurt parfait thing and I guess I didn't realize the peaches would be covered with peachy sugar goo.  If I wanted that I would have gone to Walgreens and gotten a bag of gummi peaches and called it a day.

Tired of all the "typical" lunch spots, I decided to seek out something a little different. Enter Cosi. It's not quite a stranger with it's Panera/Corner Bakery-esque atmosphere, but it's also new to my lunch repertoire. I ordered the Signature Salad---a delightful mix of craisins, pistachios, gorgonzola, spring greens and a light shallot vinaigrette. Although my intent was to eat it outside on this beautiful day, there were too many "loungers" milking their lunch hours. Ah well, can't blame them for that. And I'm sure the fresh-faced, all-smiles staff wouldn't even hint at moving even a minute before they were ready. Some other reviews mentioned the staff's great attitude, and I'm going to agree wholeheartedly. Great people, good food, and a fun location.

Breakfast. I went to this place because I got lost trying to find Bon Au something or other. I'm SOOOO glad I made that mistake. Do not carry a foam Dunkin Donuts coffee cup. Ick! Spend $4.50 and get the most freshest bagel omelet you ever had - plus coffee. It's orgasmic. If you travel from the suburbs and eat lunch on the train, wait. Everything is fresh. The eggs, vegetables, cheese, bagel is heavenly.  It's high quality and the store is strangely not busy breakfast time. You'll never go back to whatever you were eating for breakfast. Beware: this location is closed but they have others.

I am not from Chicago and had never heard of Cosi, and was pleasantly surprised by it when my husband and I stopped in for lunch while visiting the city.  I had the basic signature salad, which was really good, but the whole wheat bread that came with it was FANTASTIC and stole the show.  I would eat here all the time if I lived near one.  I think it kicks the shit out of Panera.

I just read all the reviews about this location and can't believe that no one mentioned the best thing about this location...liquor license.  Inexpensive wine, reasonable beer, strange coffee drink thingies.  Just do not ask for an Irish coffee... they will try and make it with Kahlua, baileys and milk.  Yucko.  But it's not like they have a bartender, just a couple of kid waiters.  The signature salad is great too.  Decent bagel sandwiches in the morning.

I come to Cosi every freakin' day during my lunch hour.  Seriously, you should come find me some time.  Not only am I eating there, but a lot of times I'm getting comfortable, just hanging out while I read my US Weekly (but it looks like I'm doing work, shhhh).  Anyway, I'm so glad someone in my office introduced me to this little gem of a sandwich shop - its such a perfect break in the middle of my day.  Cosi costs a little bit more than La Subway, but its so worth it.  Plus, I make up for the difference in price by consuming as much bread as possible while I wait in line to place my order so I'm sure to get my moneys worth.  No shame, none at all.    What can I say - I love me some carbs.

Are you kidding me? Glorified Panera at stupidly high prices.  The Greek salad is decent, but do I really need table service after 5pm? Leave me alone! I like the location, but the actual store was dirty. I will say that the staff is very very nice and I appreciated that greatly.

There are cool, friendly people who work at this location and you'll find a lovely, warm interior.  The food is quality, but when I picked up breakfast sandwiches in the past, they were so dull.  Almost zero flavor.  However I did enjoy a few of the lunchtime items, including the spinach and artichoke dip and the chicken pesto sandwich.  They also have salads and some delicious bakery items.
