I came here for a business meeting.......The mgt team is outstanding.
I got reserved curb side parking, a huge room with a cool view of the ocean and downtown San Diego.

The rooms are up-dated with flat screen tv's and super clean.  The lobby bar and restaurant is trendy and super cool!

The fitness ctr is outstanding...........I will be coming back!

WEDDING & RECEPTION REVIEW:

Filmed a wedding and reception here.  Hotel was nice with many of the rooms overlooking the bay. The Marriott staff was very professional and took care of us vendors at the event.  Had no problems and everything went rather smoothly during our time filming.

There's a designated area for their outdoor wedding ceremonies which also overlooks the bay.  Has a very open feel and look and we had a nice breeze during the proceeding.  Got some pretty fabulous footage.

The reception was held in a large tent, still on the Marriott property but away from all the hotel rooms to minimize the noise for the guests.  Tent was right next to the bay and one could easily step outside and enjoy the gorgeous view for a moment.  Dance floor was quite large and I believe the tent could hold about 200+ guests.  Could fit quite a bit more if the dance floor is shortened.  Food at the reception was not too bad as well.

Overall, from a wedding vendor perspective, I had a great time and working there was not too challenging.  Plus, having lots of great views of the bay in the background helped in capturing some pleasant shots for me.

I recently stayed at the Marriott for a vacation. This is a perfect vacation spot if you are looking to relax and are willing to spend a little coin. The hotel sits on the bay side of the island, not the ocean side, and is a lot quieter than the Del and other hotels on the ocean side.  The pool is great, has its own bar, and is located right next to the bay.

All of the staff were extremely friendly and went way above my expectation. Our room had a great view of the Bay. The room was large, clean, nice. My only criticism on the resort is that there was no refrigerator.

I really liked the location and view of the San Diego skyline and bay. Also, I highly recommend going down to the pier, which is located right off of the hotel, and renting a jet ski or beach cruiser. Overall, great vacation spot.

This property did everything they said they'd do.  But nothing more.  And because this is supposed to be a resort, and because of that I chose it for some much needed rejuvenation, just doing what they said they'd do wasn't enough.  Yes, the room was nice (for the price, it should have been), but it stunk of insecticide and clearly had only received basic cleaning for a while.  Yes, I had a view of the bay (I paid extra for a guaranteed bay view).  Yes, the staff was nice...but in an Eddie Haskell way.  Overly nice, while delivering just ok service.  It was a bit surreal.  Two stars for doing all they said, but no more because they just don't get it that part of the resort experience is delivering more than what's expected.

Photos don't do it justice. They have renovated at least some of the rooms - I've stayed in the bay view rooms and am Gold so maybe that was why.  It isn't Island kitschy but is classy island/resort.

Huge bathroom, marble floors and shower. GIANT tub, separate shower with removable gooseneck shower handle. Huge (single sink) bathroom counter. No electric vent in there but it works out. It'd be nice if there were jacuzzi jets but I won't complain. It'd also be nice if the sundry shop sold small candles/bath salts so people could take advantage of the tub!

Housekeeping is thorough and generous with the refills on the coffee machine. If you call for housekeeping you'll get a front desk call to check and see that they cleaned to your satisfaction.

Free wifi in the lobby/pool areas. Expensive - $12.95 if you do it from the restaurant/your room.

Expensive on-site parking - don't bother, park on the street for free!

Albertsons, gas stations, great restaurants are all very close by and all you need is a bike, a rental car, or even your feet (longer transport times ;).

Staff is pleasant at the concierge desk and check in. Sometimes the "At your service" (Front desk line) can be a bit brusque but I think it depends on who you get I had one chick who was at the desk and a bit cold with me when I walked up to check in, so I checked in with the person next to her instead. The chick who was a bit cold with me ended up being the same person who handles the "at your service" calls so when she answered she knew who I was and totally cut me off in the middle of asking questions. But the problem was clearly hers, not hotel-wide.

REALLY sweet staff at the restaurant. They don't get a lot of traffic so they have limited floor staff. You can wait around for a while to be seated and to get checked up on as your meal progresses however they are generous with bread/olives/tapenade (free with dinner), are very interested in being sure you're taken care of and happy, and are just very pleasant. Sidenote tho - I haven't actually found the food particularly good or inspiring and prefer to eat elsewhere. This includes room service. It's all serviceable and will keep you filled but for the prices and the quality I'd rather go elsewhere  ...

Beds are really comfortable and - i love this - you get a flat screen with a built in "wired" system where you can hook up your ipod, laptop, etc., to the tv and stream your own movies, music, etc., it's cool. They provide all the wires/cables!

Big beds, big beautiful private patio with great views. Spare couch is also a sleeper sofa.

Very spacious rooms, with a generous in-room digital safe. You can ask for a fridge - free!

Love coming here for a weekend - I'm a writer and have made a huge amount of progress on my main novel here and literally completed my magnum opus valentine's day weekend. i was told L. Frank Baum wrote much of his Oz books at the Hotel del Coronado on the other side of the island - inspiring, and well, now I've finished one of MY books at the Coronado Marriot Resort! ;P

Oh, great for romance and just getting away, single or as a couple. And based on other posts, great for families, too!

I would have given them 5 stars if the first room we were put in wasn't entirely cleaned.

Our first room was in the east wing of the resort, facing the bay, which was absolutely beautiful. We had a giant living room with a sofa and a table to seat four, a nice bathroom, and of course, the bedroom. Both the bedroom and the living room had their own separate patios with beautiful views. Upon inspection, we found that the robes in the closet weren't replaced--or they weren't properly hung on the hangers--but they definitely seemed used and one of the closets wasn't cleaned out, so there was some cardboard and plastic sitting on the floor in the closet.

We were moved to the west wing of the resort to another bay view room. This room was amazing! We didn't want to leave and we were sad that our stay would only be for two nights. You walk into the room and the living room is huge! 2 of the 4 walls were floor-to-ceiling glass windows that gave a beautiful view of the bay. Our bedroom was slightly bigger than the last and it also had its own patio (in addition to the living room).

This place was amazing. We hope to go back again during the summer when the weather is nicer.

Oh yea, try to breakfast buffet! You get a ton of food and the  crepes are amazing! The first crepe we got, my boyfriend ate it all! Luckily, it was a buffet, so we ended up getting another one for me, and he ended up getting a waffle in a similar style.

Oh yea, they also have fruit infused water in the lobby. The first day, it was infused with orange peel. The second day, it was infused with strawberries. Very delicious and refreshing!

The rooms were nice and on the larger-side, but if you don't have a bay/downtown view it's just a waste to be staying on this side of Coronado Island.  You aren't in walking distance to anything.  The hotel has probably seen better days, but the ballroom was turned out nicely for the wedding we attended.  The spa was very simple. The services were excellent (and reasonably priced for a hotel), but the spa itself was neither relaxing or glamorous.   Having lunch out by the pool was probably this Mariott's best asset.

I recently had a great weekend stay at this resort on Coronado Island.  The rooms are spacious and comfy.  Ours had an amazingly comfortable king bed, a couch, a coffee table, a desk area, big TV on a bureau, a vanity area complete with close-up mirror and roll-out seat, nice-sized closet with safe, and a BIG marble bathroom with a separate shower and large tub.  All the rooms have big patios, and ours overlooked the bay over to the city- so lovely!  We had a great lazy room-service lunch here one afternoon- the food was quite tasy(tomato soup and grilled cheese, Asian salad with chicken on the side) and you can't beat the view or the weather!  The pool area was large with many comfortable chairs and friendly occasional service (daiquiris, French fries, etc.).  Added bonus- there is fruit-infused water out in the lobby at all hours with rotating fruits.  Ours included strawberry, cucumber, and canteloupe.

We were here for a close friend's wedding, and everything was handled smoothly and elegantly.  Most guests got rooms overlooking the gorgeous outdoor ceremony location.  The ceremony by the water was beautiful, and the cocktail hour and reception inside and next to the large ballroom upstairs were very nice.  The location of the hotel itself was also great, close to the bridge back across the bay and also to walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants on the island, and a few local bars.

Why not five stars?  We had some issues trying to check in to our room that were only resolved when we dealt with an entirely different staff member.  Many front-desk staff people weren't very friendly.  The doors in the rooms don't do a very good job of blocking outdoor sound, although the rooms are so spread out that this isn't an issue very often.  Parking is quite expensive.  There is free wireless in the pool and the lobby, but these aren't exactly the most conducive areas for getting computer-required work done, and the internet in the room is not wireless and is about $13 a day.  Small issues, obviously, but these were the things that didn't quite push this Marriott over the edge into true excellence.

The resort is pretty ordinary, but the follow up and customer service were beyond expectation.  They definitely went the extra mile even finding a charger for my cell phone (I left mine at home).  My aunt complained about the air conditioning, but she would complain in Alaska in December so you have to balance it.  I was cold.

We stayed during Columbus Day weekend and I checked out what my fellow yelpers had to say about the hotel before getting there.

We had a Bay View room, which overlooked the pool and boats.  It was nice, although we didn't take advantage of sitting outside our patio much.

The room was a decent size with the Marriott signature bed that we love, a separate couch, a desk and chair, and a vanity area as well.

The bathroom was bigger, but not that special.  The bathtub size was mentioned pretty often in other reviews, so I came equipped with bubble bath and bath salts.  It's a good size for a nice soak, and the separate walk-in shower is nice too.  (No shortage of hot water at all!)  The Big F noticed a 'wet dog' smell from the shower that he wasn't particularly fond of.  I think it was the draining system or something.  Their toiletries come from the Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy collection.  When we called for more, they came with a huge bag of stuff.  (They gave us stuff we didn't originally have and so much of it that they knew we were never going to call them again.)

The flat screen TV was nice, especially since you could swivel it and watch it from the couch, bed, or the bath tub.

There is Wireless available in your room, but for a charge of $9.95/day.  There was no free WiFi anywhere else in the hotel unfortunately.  (Definitely not business-friendly if they are charging for Internet use.)

Yes, parking is expensive.  $22/day or $28/day valet.

The closest supermarket is the Albertsons that is a few blocks away.  They close pretty early though, and I think their prices are higher since they are located on Coronado Island.  (The front desk offered to open up their shop if I really needed something which was nice of them to.)

We never got a chance to check out the pool, jacuzzi, spa, or the fitness center unfortunately.

Overall, Coronado Island Marriott Resort is a nice hotel, although a bit rundown.  It's expensive for what you're getting and I probably wouldn't stay here if I was paying the original price.

3.5 stars.

I was expecting more prior to my arrival but it was nice.   The room did have a stale odor until you opened the windows but as soon as you closed it the smell was back.  Since I was staying here a few days I bought some scented candles that really helped.
The gym wasn't that big and was pretty crowded in the morning but it was nice just to walk or jog around the area.
I loved the Jacuzzi overlooking the bay.   Very nice.

Just writing the review now, but I stayed there a couple months ago. It was my second stay there, so I have a little perspective.

First, they remodeled the lobby and the bar. The bar area is now wide open and gorgeous, with seating options ranging from..... the bar (duh) to high chairs and tables, to couches. It's very comfortable, the bartender made excellent drinks, and it's super classy.

Both trips were to attend a conference. The hotel catered food was great. My only complaint is that, since I was there for 3 days, they kept serving the same basic food items, just prepared in slightly different ways. Yeah I like those little carrots with the bit of green left on the top. But not at every meal, ok? Another example -  they had sausage among the ingredients one morning... and the next morning among the breakfast items were egg and sausage burritos. Makes you go hmmm.... :)

The rooms are luxurious. I don't know any other way to say it. And that's coming from a guy who has been a hard core road warrior for the last 8 years.

The in-room bathroom is one of the nicest I've seen in any resort type hotel. Tile and granite, a GIANT tub with built in whirlpool bubble things. There's enough room for 2 people in that tub.  Conserve water, bathe with a friend! There is a separate stand-up shower as well. The shampoo/soap/etc supplies are high class. The towels are thick, absorbent, and soft. There are lots of full length mirrors in the room for examining yourself before you go out. Some are strategically placed within eyeshot of the bed. Those are for use between bathing with your friend and then using the stand up shower.

My most recent room had a view of the bay and downtown San Diego. I didn't want to check out. It was.... awesome to wake up to that, less than 100 feet from the water line with nothing in between to obstruct the view. I hung out on the balcony for a while because it made me feel like the coolest person ever.

Only downside - they close the hot tubs and pool early. WTF guys? There is a crabby security guard who chased about 10 of us out of one of the hot tub (they are HUGE) at about midnight. That's the best time to be tubbin'! So, half of us collected what was left of the vodka and other goodies and headed across the hotel to.... the OTHER pool and giant hot tub! Ha ha. 45 minutes later, chased out again.

Unfortunately the in-room tubs won't accommodate more than 2, otherwise it really could have gotten interesting.

I coordinated a business meeting there. They pressured me to sign the contract without giving me the full details. The estimate they gave me was not even close to how much it really was. They sent me wrong menus, and incorrect information about our stay. i approved one conference room, but received another. Signs were misleading and incorrect to get the conference room. $350 A DAY FOR WIFI. Ridiculous! Boxed lunches lacked flavor. Our dinner was even worse. We had everything ordered an advance so we wouldn't have to wait to order food. Believe it or not, they presented me with wrong plates. What i originally ordered was printed right in front of me, on my misspelled place seating. They spelled almost everyone's name incorrectly. Oh yea, and they didn't even have enough plates for one of my CEO's! Her misspelled name-tag was there, by no plate and chair.
Overall, costs WAY TOO MUCH for all the things they lack. Then the Manager called me about the survey I filled out, and didn't even offer me a resolution. Nothing. She did hang up on me after I expressed to her that my boss told me to make it very clear, we would never return to the Marriott.

The only positive, the rooms were "nice". But this place is not what it cracks out to be. NEVER PLAN A CONFERENCE THERE!

Wait wait wait...Yan got free ice cream and peanuts? WTF?!?

My experience kinda sucked, to be honest, contrary to everyone else.  My room smelled pretty damned moldy, or musty maybe.  The hotel was full-ish and I was stuck there a few days.  Staff seemed annoyed if you talked to them (with the exception of the great concierge guys).  No free internet (wireless or otherwise).  Ridiculous SELF parking rates.

Blah.  Nice outdoor amenities (pool/spa) and great views, but other than that, no thanks.

I'm not sure how this is (at least it was when I was there) a 4 diamond place.

This hotel was wonderful in setting up reservations and making sure my group and I were more than comfortable in our surroundings.  We stayed in the cabanas for two nights and talk about the view!  It was absolutely gorgeous to see the sun rise and set during our stay here.  The Coronado Bridge was even more of a wonderful addition to the scenery.

Cabanas were extremely beautiful... HUGE king sized bed... a tub/spa that I just wanted to sleep in for days... (I was workin on the 'days' part... I think I got to 'hours')... phone in the bathroom so everyone was crackin up when I'd tell them I was calling them from there... We really couldn't have asked for more.

We were greeted by the ducks wandering around looking for food everytime we walked out of our door - which was just way too cute!  I have nothing but very good memories of this place.  Really made me wish I still lived in California!

Very happy with my recent stay at this hotel with my family.  We stayed on the 3rd floor on the north side with a great view of downtown San Diego.  The room was clean and a very good size.   Family of 5 fit comfortably on 2 double bed + a rollaway.  (One note to maintenance...the shower area had many cracked tiles.  The tiles seemed kind of outdated and in need of some cosmetic repairs.)

The bathroom was also about average in size with a huge tub occupying 30% of the floor space.  The shower fixtures functioned flawlessly.

There was a nice flat panel TV with lots of channels that kept the kids occupied for the brief periods that we were inside.

The hotel is in good condition and they seemed to be upgrading the gardens near the rooms.  The pool area is very nice and clean with beautiful garden surroundings.  And yes, there is a bird cage in the south end of the building.  I wouldn't want to stay near the cage as they would drive me crazy with all of the noise.  Unless you're a bird-lover, I don't know why anyone would want to stay near the walk-in bird cage.  (Note to hotel.  Move the bird-cage away from the rooms)

The restaurant was very convenient.  There seems to be a menu plus a buffet selection everyday for breakfast and dinner.  We tried the dinner buffet once and the emphasis is on gourmet and quality instead of variety.  Very nice.  $30+ adults/$16+ children.

My only gripes are parking and internet connectivity.  The parking is $18/day self park.  The internet is not free, even in their office center.

There is also a nice spa with very friendly staff on site.  We rented bicycles there to ride around Coronado.  It was a fun experience.  Definitely try this.

There is no beach access on the resort.  However, if you drive, run, bike or walk 2 miles west, you can use the Coronado beach near the Coronado 'del' mar hotel.  Very nice beach and very family friendly.

There is also a nice path that is between the hotel and the bay.   It goes for about 1/2 mile on one direction and about a mile in the other direction. People use it for walking, running, bicycling, sightseeing....this was also very enjoyable.  Can't miss walking to the nearby shops on this path or for bicycling.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weeked in June and we were surprised at how nice it is.  We expected something a little less resort-like.  We were happily surprised.

Our room was large and had a balcony with a view of the bay.  The bathroom was huge and appeared to have been recently updated/renovated.

We are planning on going back soon and when we do, we will definitely stay here again.

Overall this hotel is aging-  needs a complete overhaul- except they do have lcd TVs.  The bathrooms are roomy but seems like you are in the brady bunch era with all the colors and tile.

The room service is ok- the food was fine but nothing spectacular.  The meeting rooms were adequate as well.  My view of the water was great- but nothing to rave about.

When the hotel staff offers to upgrade you to a suite, and you turn it down because you love the room you have - - - that is a very, very good sign.

Especially with me, because I am not ashamed to admit that I am one picky %#%&#  (insert derogatory word of choice) when it comes to hotels.
I can pig out with you at Taco Bell, I can get as ghetto as you want for a day -  and I can even take public transportation if I must, but there is no negotiation with hotels.  I'm on "vacation" - I'm not filming an episode of SURVIVOR here. I don't much care if it's business or pleasure - - - to me, it's ALL a vacation!   I never claimed I was good at roughing it, and I sure as hell am not leaving the comforts of my own home to stay in a subpar hotel.  Travel with me once, and it will be crystal clear that I am not kidding about this.  Travel with me once, and you will either opt to never do that again (hahaha) or you will never make the mistake of booking the wrong kind of hotel again.  Some will disagree (and they'd just be simply wrong, of course), but I think this is the one way in which I am spoiled:  hotels.

I want it all.  I'm not looking for the best only - - I just want it all to be very good, that's all.

I want valet parking.  I'm not paying to go park the car myself.
I want bell service - - I didn't check into your hotel to lug my bags myself - and I don't want whoever is with me to do it either.
I want a view of some sort - - meaning nice large windows w/ ample sunshine and light.
I want a balcony w/ seating.
I want a fabulous bed.
I want a vanity area so I don't have to blowdry my hair in a steaming hot bathroom.
I want room service.  No wait, 24 hour room service and it has to have GOOD coffee - piping hot, served in a thermos - - QUICKLY.  With Equal and cream.
I want a wireless internet connection.
I want an ice machine.
I want HDTV and PPV movies.
I want an elevator, I didn't book this hotel to get exercise.
I want a big bathroom with good mirrors, lots of counterspace, a bathtub, and a damn good shower.  I'll forego 1 or 2 of the pre-reqs for a damn good shower.
I want a good toiletry selection, though I am still not sure why since I always bring my own stuff.
I want bathrobes.  No questions - just give me bathrobes.
Give me PLENTY of towels and don't go cheap with the quality of towels either.
I want ample electrical sockets.
I want music - and if no music, give me an iPod ready SOMETHING.
I want AC and it has to WORK.
And size does matter - - make it big and roomy.  I don't like being cramped.

Marriott Coronado had all that.
And then some - including a gorgeous pool, and pretty fine (though exorbitantly expensive) restaurant w/ excellent servers who packed us a picnic basket w/ tons of food and wine w/ glasses when we decided to go out in the bay on a boat,  or served us a lunch on their patio overlooking the bay on our last day.  Friendly enough staff, topnotch room service with pretty tasty food, and good coffee -  with a pretty decent wine selection - - this hotel exceeded my expectations.  Housekeeping was a bit less  than what I'd hope for at such a hotel - considering one day they took our bathrobes and then when we asked what happened, they said they ran out (??????).

But all in all - - this hotel was excellent and I would gladly stay here again.  Overlooking the water and the bridge - - it's peaceful, and on the balcony, from somewhere not so far away, you hear music flowing through the air.  It's efficient but romantic, close to the action but peaceful and serene - - it's pretty much whatever you want it to be.

A short water taxi ride (5 minutes, $6) will get you to downtown San Diego - or a short drive of perhaps 10 minutes will get you to the same place.  If ever needing to be in San Diego - - I'd highly recommend the Coronado Island Marriott.  It gives you the feeling of "getting away" while never losing  the proximity to the city of San Diego.

okay, it might be true, i've crossed over to the bougie side. maybe not entirely, but man it's a nice way to live in coronado especially at this hotel. the view is fanastic, the amenities are great, the bathtub is just what i needed, and well, the nice bike salesman who is not affiliated with the hotel but is across the way let us borrow bikes for free. what more can i say?

i know, the marriott hasn't been traditionally heralded for its fair labor practices but man, for a day-i just had to do it and it was remarkable. the view. just the view is enough to keep me going til the next day. plus, they have little bungalows around the resort so that you can pause during one of your casual walks and observe the view. just you and yours. i loved it. maybe they need a better hairdryer but i did okay. oh and they could work on free internet. and better parking rates. okay...so the view and the rooms. i was blinded by both and am mostly satisfied because of it.

one more thing: the shower head. i loved the shower and the temperature setter. yes, it's true, you can set your own temperature in the shower. wish i could do that for every place i went without effecting the global climate.

On a recent business trip I was upgraded to a suite and loved this place!  Am returning in a couple of weeks with the family in tow and am looking forward to the scenic views of San Diego and the Coronado Bridge from our patio.  Also like the location as it is very easy to walk to downtown, grab a quick glass of wine and just stroll the area.  We love a quick trip away and this lifestyle fits us just right.

We are in Coronado on business for my husband who is in the military so we are currently staying in a government rate room which appeared to be nice, but for about $160 night, it SUCKED. I mean what kind of hotel doesn't have an in room mini-fridge, not to mention the fact that the in room Wifi service is $12.95 (ridiculous if your here on business). It's sad that I had to read the review posted right before this to find out about all the secret ways to save money here. The interest of the hotel should be in saving customers money with the economy the way that it is. Plus we decided to give the restaurant a try for breakfast which was disgusting, a sausage croissant was $13, and the sad part is one from Burger King would have been the same size and much tastier for about $10 less. Needless to say we will never stay here again nor recommend this place to anyone. It's not family friendly and there are so much other hotels in the area that you get more for your money and don't sacrifice the quality. BOOO for uppity hotels that charge too much!

Great room with a view and a huge balcony! Although the time that we were there, it was pretty much off season but they still gave us two rooms at the very far end of the property and we literally dragged our bags pass all these empty hotel rooms....I guess we had privacy but it even took room service awhile before they could deliver our complimentary Haagen Dazs ice-cream and peanuts. Nice touch though to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main district.

Never stayed here but I have been to the spa.  I've gotten many many many great massages there.  Usually I don't like going to spas for massages, b/c I find that they're too froo froo.  I like my massage therapist to really work my knots out, I want to walk out of there feeling like my back and neck really got "therapy" not just rubbed.  Anyway, my therapist Jeannette is awesome!
