My favorite course in San Diego!!!
Busy - so play early to avoid waiting on the tees.
Greens are in great shape and amazing shots to be had.
Friendly staff - very reasonable fees.

The bro found a really nice deal on NY eve on Coronado island.  $50 to play this great course was stellar, even though it was a 5 hour round.  We just took our time and had a great day of golf.  Not hitting the ball all that well right now so I'm not too ecstatic in any of my reviews.

Green rolled true and tough as they dried out and the tee boxed were pretty flat and nice.  I would come here daily if I lived in the area!  Great place to play.

Spent the week before Christmas in SD.  Immensely popular with the locals to the point you can only get a tee time 2 days in advance.  We made reservations a week in advance with a $15 non-refundable fee.  Totally worth it - $45 for a fun and invigirating track surrounded by beautiful homes and harbor views.  Staff couldn't be friendlier.  Primarily Burmuda, so, be sure to stay on the fairways and greens as the rough is deceptive.

Only caution is the directions to the course.  The last street sneaks up on you!  A GREAT place to get away from the chill of a Northern Winter's Day.  If I lived in the SD area, this would be a regular part of the playing rotation.

How can't this place be 5 stars across the board?  It's $35 to play on the weekends.  That's all you need to know for a good (not great) golf course.  Always rated as one of the top public, affordable golf courses in the US.  It has a beautiful view of downtown San Diego and moves nicely along the streets of Coronado.  It's not a tough course, but it's well maintained and very walkable.  If you like to walk, it's hard to find a better walking course.  Sometimes the pro shop staff can be bristly, but I guess that gives it a little charm.

I usually don't expect much from public golf courses since I'm paying less.... but wow, coronado golf course REALLY took my breath away!!

Almost every other hole seemed like it had a water view and the fresh sea air just felt too good to be true. Everyone on the golf course was super friendly and the greens were very smooth and well-kept.

Before our tee-time, we also grabbed brunch at the clubhouse. I got the California omelet and a side of french toast. The omelet was decent but the french toast was SCRUMPTIOUS!

At the end of the day, i played on a beautiful course and saved half of what it should have cost me. This is THE place for golfers!!!   GOgoGo!

This is a busy, busy course, but the surroundings are beautiful, the water and neighborhood add quite a bit of charm and it is super reasonable in terms of price. I agree that the pace of play at this course is a bit slower than I am accustomed to as me and my family are fast players, but it is so serene out there I didn't mind.

At first glance the course looks fairly easy, but there are nice little touches that make each hole a little more challenging than you would expect (for instance the placement of the sand traps) without making you feel like you need to be in the PGA to play it.

My one wish is that the driving range had more slots.  When we went we had to wait a while as there were a lot of kids practicing (for a class I think) but one of them finally took pity on us and let us use his spot to warm up a bit.

As seen in some of the other reviews, the staff can be a bit gruff at times (not so much rude, just gruff) but honestly that's at every public course I have ever been too.

This is a great course for amateur golfers.

    Pros:
    The course is beautiful.
    It is well kept.
The weather is cool and nice right on the ocean.
    It was affordable to play.

If you have never golfed here, you have to try it, even if you are as bad as we are.

There is something great about golfing on an island.

This course is really fun.  It's one of the most well kept courses I have ever played, it's challenging, and it's inexpensive.

    The green fees are
    18 Holes $25.00
18 Holes twilight $13.00 (Varies 2:00 PM Winter to 4:00 PM Summer)

Don't expect to get in anymore than 9 holes if you start at twilight - The pace of play on this course is really slow.  Besides not being able to get in 18 at twilight this course is awesome.  Play it!

This is still the best bargain in all of California if not the US.

They recently raised the walk on rate from $25 to $30 and got rid of the yearly pass which was something like 950 or so.

I believe the best deal you can get now is 100 rounds for 15 dollars.

This course is beloved by all levels of golfers as it is easy enough for new golfers and challenging enough for seasoned veterans.

It is a very straight forward course with views of the bridge, the bay, the Hotel Del, and a very flat course that is very easy to walk.

There are some areas off the fairway that you can get into some rough that can be tough to play out of.

The greens and the entire course is always in excellent shape.

The only downside to this place is that it is very crowded.

You can get a tee time by arriving early at the course 2 days before or calling, I would call and find out what the modus operandi is.

The clubhouse is really nice, the food is decent but not great.

If you are a single, go the starter and get there early and ask to  play the back nine first and then get on the list to start the front nine.

You can then play 27 and pay for only 18!

With the increased rates maybe there will be fewer crowds but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Enjoy!! It is a treasure we have in San Diego.

For the price, this was a great course with nice views of the ocean on the back 9.  The pictures make it look a little nicer than what it was when I went there.  The greens were a little beat up, but for less than $30 I can't complain.  Very walkable tournament style course.  Even cheaper for San Diego residents.  It is a little hard to get a tee time on the weekend.

My last review of 3 stars was fair when considering the 6+ hour round I played last time out.  Today while playing, one of the guys I was playing with said that last time out, his round took 8 hours.  No sh*t?  No sh*t!

Today proved to be a redeeming 5 star experience for Coronado Golf Course.  We teed off at 4 pm today after paying a not-so-whopping $15.  We could have squeezed in 18 but opted to take off after 12 as the 12th loops back close to the parking lot.

The pace of play today was much improved.  I believe I have cracked the code, as the key is to avoid Coronado on Fridays and weekends.  Coronado will best suit you if you can get off work an hour or two early toward the start of the week.  Totally worth it.

As mentioned in my last review as well as by my Yelping friends, this course has an unbelievable location.  World class.  And with the prices being so low, it's a much deserved five stars for the great Coronado Golf Course.

The City of Coronado does a great job with this course. I rarely have a problem getting on, and it always seems to be in good condition. I really love playing here in the afternoons when you get that perfect breeze off of the bay at your back and the sky is clear.

I will admit that I have shanked a few balls over the fence that is protecting the bicyclists, if the gentleman or his family are reading this, sorry about that one, hope your kid is okay...can I have my Pro-V1 back please?

Best value in San Diego Period. $15 after 1pm during the winter and $30 pretty much any weekday. How can you beat that? Views of downtown San Diego, Navy ships, the bay, and breezes from the ocean. I love this course!

Great food, snacks, nice driving range, fun wide open course. There is nothing I don't like about Coronado Golf Course. I lived in Orange County for 2 years and hardly played golf because every course is $70+. When I moved to San Diego I realized golf CAN be affordable, and Coronado Golf course makes it happen!

fun course for a low price. the views of the city, bay, naval fleet, bridge, and coronado hotel are all awesome - probably the best part. The course in general is pretty wide open which makes it easy for beginner to intermediate players.

the line and wait at tees can sometimes be really bad depending on when you play

the price is pretty good for 18, but caution that they charge $16/person for a cart. therefore make sure only one person gets a cart for the $16 and then jump on in the second hole or something. paying $32 for a cart is more than an entire round.

Its a waterside course on a small peninsula in San Diego. For $25 a round to walk I cant say you can find the same deal anywhere else within 500 miles.

Range is nice, and prices are right. They offer lessons, club rentals and a small pro Shop.  I do like the bar area, and the bartender Smokey is the man.  Bought me a shot of some tequila as long as I took it strait, with no salt! Ahh how tasty!

Only downside is you better be ready to get up at the asscrack of dawn to make a tee time.  It has to be one of the most played and hardest courses to get onto.  But with that being said, its in damn good condition!

One of my favorite tracks to play in San Diego.  Great value, great views and great golfing!  Awesome view of the San Diego skyline, boats, and the Bay.    Unlike some courses that offer peace and quiet, Coronado offers the buzz of boats, jetskis, planes and cars!   Though it's hard to grab tee times, but here's a tip:

If you get there early enough before the dawn patrol hits the back 9, ask to play the back 9 and put your name on the waiting list to start to front 9.  You'll need to pay for the whole round, but 9 holes for $25 isn't bad either.

The course is flat but always offers challenge.   The fairways are always in decent shape, but the greens can be bumpy at times.  Not too many hazards but Water (Ocean!!) can be in play on several holes.

The club house is also popular for brunch as well.

This is a course that has to be on your to-do list!

Yes, the course is pretty & inexpensive.  But to me, golf is more than about great views and cheap prices - the experience of playing golf and how people treat you at the course are equally important.

I decided to play there on Sunday afternoon during the Chargers Game.  Usually a good time, right?  Well when the tee time was booked, there was no mention of a kids-tournament taking place in front of us.  It took 1 hour to play 2 holes with no hope in sight of speeding up.

I wasn't a math major but at that pace it would have taken 9 hours to complete a round.

After becoming frustrated and discussing it with the starter we were told "tough luck".  No refund, no rain check, no considerate "I'm sorry".  Just a statement of "We're busy here.  you should have checked the schedule online".  Really?  The starter couldn't have let us know that a tournament of 10 year olds was scheduled to tee off in front of us?

In fact he actually suggested we just replay the same 2 holes we had already played.  Rude.

I have played Coronado before, and I know it tends to play slower than other courses, but this was inexcusable.  I will not play there again.

I'd rather pay a little more to not have to deal with poor treatment by staff and 30mins/hole playing time

GREAT deal....if you can get a tee time. I'm was always so frustrated trying to get a tee time here that I stopped trying but I do only play AM on the weekends so that doesn't help. It is always a good time, the breeze and great views. I love low cost golf but this place has too high a demand for me to try anymore.

This golf course is great for the beginner or intermediate player. The fairways are wide and not too long. It's rarely bunched up so play pace is very comfortable for you to enjoy the scenery of being on bay, surrounding  estates and great view of Coronado bridge. Best part however is the fees to play  which are very affordable. Standard rates are about $25-$35 to play during the day at  twilight it's only $13 for all you can get in! They also provide a driving range if your just looking to practice. Have fun!

I played at Coronado today and had the worst golf experience of my life.  I showed up 30 minutes before my tee time and teed off at 3:05pm.  There was some type of tournament with young kids going on, so I asked if we could tee off the back nine.  The starter told me yes, then no, and well, I could of if I asked 10 minutes ago.  I was already checked in, why didn't someone let me know, since this was obviously going to be a problem?

After an hour I had only played 2 holes, because of the tournament in front of me.  I was very frustrated and decided to call it a day, as I was only going to get in a total of 4 or 5 holes before it got dark.  I went in the pro shop to explain the situation and asked for a rain check.  They said that they don't give rain checks and that it was a typical pace.  Really?!?  Because I've played Coronado 20 or 30 times and the pace is normally slow, as many other reviewers have noted, but never anything like this.  I couldn't even believe the guy working was trying to tell me that this was somehow reasonable.  Then, he told me that they have lots of tournaments and I could check the schedule online before I make tee times in the future.  Again, somehow this is my fault?  Maybe they should have told me that there would be a tournament in front of me and it might be slow, when I called to make my tee time.

Needless to say, I won't be coming back here for a long time.  It may be the best bargain in town, but If it's too much of a problem for you to give customer service at that rate, then I would rather go pay more to play somewhere that values their customers.  This is one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever seen.

by far the best walking course in san diego. -1 star for chargin $38 to make a tee time in advance of 2 days. if you dont pay the advanced fee, its nearly impossible to get a tee time at this course. but to coronado's credit, it is only 25 to play here so the price is dirt cheap. usually plays pretty windy but the course is short enough for you to go pretty low.
