I really liked this place. The property is bigger than a boutique hotel but exudes a similar intimacy, like you almost feel you own the place. There's an exercise facility right off the front desk that you just kind of walk into - no pass keys or special cards or fees - you just walk in and use it. The kids played ping pong around back as I caught up on some reading in the comfortable lobby, featuring lots of great old Coronado photos, an aquarium, piano and an enormously popular talking macaw named Cody. (The bird I could do without, but a charming lobby nonetheless).    There's also a small rooftop deck featuring a hottub, barbeque and beach chairs that's nice in the evening.

Parking to check in was a little confusing at first. They advise you to find a temporary spot on the sidestreet (Adella) and then get your room key, but there's also one dedicated spot right in front on Orange Ave that you can use for short term check in. Free long term parking is available in the gated underground garage in the back, after you check in.

Our two bedroom suite slept six comfortably and was neat and clean, although the infrastructure could use some touch up here and there. Nothing major, small holes in the bathroom tile, chips on the door, etc. The kitchen was tiny but remarkably well equipped - you could probably cook a complete turkey dinner there if you really wanted to. Full fridge. (There is no restaurant on site, plenty within walking distance.)

Marvelous location across the street from the Del and the town of Coronado, and one long block from one of California's finest beaches.

The Del is obviously a unique destination, but having stayed there and across the street, I'm inclined to stay here on my next visit and save a few bucks and needless aggravation. The Del's bathrooms, in the original building anyway, lack ventilation, and let's face it, the whole scene (checking in, restaurant waits, hordes of tourists) can be quite the 24/7 zoo.

The understated Coronado Beach Resort may not inspire a century's worth of fairytales, but neither does it suffer the Del's obsolescence nor it's less than storybook congestion. It's comfortable and perfectly situated. Stay here and visit the landmark across the street at your leisure.

Wonderful if you're just looking for a reasonably affordable place to stay!  I have stayed in hotels around the world and this has to be the best non-luxury place that I've been (who needs a fancy hotel room when you're alone at a conference?!).  Didn't want to spring for the $300/night price of the Hotel Del.  Looked online and somehow found this lovely place just across the street.  I booked the studio (about $110/night - quite good for Coronado) and got to sleep on my first Murphy Bed (full bed that comes down from the wall)!  My room had a full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and dinette table, in addition to bed, cable TV, VCR, sofa, and free wireless internet.  I also got free vouchers for delish breakfasts at the creperie (Bino's Bistro) across the street (see review).  The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.  Due to their free bike/helmet rental policy, I took my first bike ride in 16 years and enjoyed the Coronado sunset!  Free popcorn in the lobby in the evenings, along with various daily planned activities that I couldn't attend due to my conference.  My idea of the perfect hotel - clean, cheap, quiet, with all the fixins.
