When out-of-towners are in town... my friend always brings her guests to Coronado beach. I actually haven't been to Coronado that much.. seemed like such a hassle to go over the bridge.

However, I met up with her to enjoy the gorgeous summer day. Going over the bridge, the view is just breath-taking. WHOA. Gotta focus on the rode... especially while driving on the bridge... hahah :)

So I'm stuck on Orange Avenue for like 40 minutes. OMG... where are all these cars coming from!?! At least I was able to look at some of the nice homes and their kept gardens.

Finally, I make it to the beach! It was the perfect day, I was worried that it was going to be too cloudy but the sun magically appeared... it was even HOT! The beach wasn't too crowded and was definitely cleaner than some other ones in SD.

Great place to meet and catch up with some old friends! :)

Who was I freaking kidding?!It summer, and it has the most perfect weather at this beach..even at night.Warm with with a medium http://breeze.check it out. I've ran around in my bikini at night with no disturbances, people may have been disturbed with me though kekekeeke.

The sand sticks to you more than most beaches but its definely cut so thin and smooth its almost as if you're on heaven. Not dirty AT ALL. No seaweed really and there are recycling/trash bins all over which are convenient.

Most importantly, try to go out on a clear night. I was here 2 thursdays ago and layed on the sand and all of sudden saw shooting stars!...NAH just meteors, so be patient because they'll come to you. I mean the last time there was an epic meteor shower everyone knew about in Palo Verdes. People just don't star-gaze enough these days. You also see the indescribable view of TJ at night.

Definitely my all time favorite beach in SD and California (and I've been to countless). This was the first beach I visited when I moved down to San Diego. Great place to take out of town visitors. Family-friendly atmosphere, not over crowded with drunken idiots or pervs. Very spacious, street parking is relatively easy (and free), lifeguards on duty, fire pits are available. Has that great small beach town charm. Clearly one of the more scenic and cleaner beaches in SD. Also a great beach to work out at: be it run, cycle, or skate. The drive from downtown SD over the Coronado Bridge offers breathtaking views of the bay and skyline. My favorite time of day to visit is right before the sunset. I absolutely love walking along this beach at night and see the Hotel Del all lit up in its splendor. Great way to end a date for all you couples out there. Overall this beach is a must see for anyone visiting San Diego or Southern Cali in general.

Rated in the top ten for beaches in America every year makes us San Diegans proud. The fact that my dad was the manager of 'Nado beach for fifteen years makes me prouder still. If you want picturesque beauty and lots of sand, this is the place. From the Hotel Del on up to Outlet, Coronado Beach is the best.

I'm in Coronado bitch...  I mean beach....  haha...  good place to go swimming, BBQin, "site seeing", or having a hott ass bond fire amongst you and your friends......  Pitts are first come first served so if you plan on holding a bond fire I suggest you arrive there at 9am and just camp out the whole day because if you go there at night expecting to just have one....  you is showt...  in other words outta luck.....  The locals in coronado are very nice even if you is a colored person...  haha...  Like myself...  Parking shouldn't be a problem because your allowed to park in the neighborhoods...  and trust me, there are a lot of those...  have I mentioned that the coronado locals are very nice???  Can you say MILF....

I LOVE THIS BEACH.

You can bonfire, hang out, rest on the rocks, watch beautiful sunsets, see the lights on Coronado & IB. I love it.

It gets pretty packed when Summer rolls around but no wonder because it's just a beautful beach. I prefer this to most of the other beaches in San Diego.  I also love it when I come off season and I'm the only one there. It's very calm & relaxing.. when you vacation in San Diego, this is a must beach to be at!

This place was clean with decent parking, nice views, and had a small town charm to it even though it is right outside San Diego.  Great little area.

My beach of choice.

There is always parking available on the street.  It isn't filled with drunk college kids or perverts.  Just a nice quiet atmosphere with a lot to look at.  The water is usually cold but I'm not sure SD offers anything to compare it to.  We used to come here to boogie board on hot summer days after working in our non air-conditioned workplace on C.

I'm always shocked how easy it is to be at this beach, how uncrowded and non-obnoxious.  It's a dream come true.

Had a lot of fun here last summer, pleanty of room at the part of the beach where we were, near the bon fire pits.  Waves are fun, I don't surf so people may have different interpretations of this.  Can't wait to go back.

The best beach in San Diego. It's a pretty good walk from the sidewalk to the water, meaning there is a TON of clean sand here so people can spread out. You aren't going to be worried that your stuff is going to wash away and you are going to run out of beach to fall back onto. In the middle there is a lifeguard tower and restrooms. At one end is dog beach and fire pits, and at the other is the Hotel Del and some tidepools (really, it keeps going beyond the Del, but the main beach ends there). Parking is on the street, and there are occasional paths through the pile of rocks that serves as a shorebreak during really bad storms. I don't know where all of them are, but there's a big one by the lifeguard tower (which you can see from the street) and I know there's an access point at G Street.

This beach is consistently rated in the top 10 beachs in the world, and has been rated #1 in the country by places like Conde Nast Traveler, and I agree with them. It's awesome.

Awesome beach!  Clean, busy, yet I still found parking right next to the breach.  For a little more excitement throw in some Navy jet fighters and helicopters.  The family loved it.

come here early or parking is a biaaatchhh..

this is a beautiful beach. but what beach isnt?

what i loved about this beach was that it was not too crowded even for a friday before a holiday weekend. there were many kids but the usual annoying complaints/questions/screams were drowned out by the sound of the beautiful ocean.

it was so nice to be at a clean beach.. sorry but ocean beach in the city just doesnt cut it...

I must admit, despite not being too much of a beach person, I can understand why Coronado beach is one of the top rated beaches. Clean, nice sand, street parking, and of course a beautiful view of the ocean. A bit surprised the beach wasn't crowded for a summer day. Even happier the crowd was tame and family friendly.

One of the top 3 beaches in SD for me. Well I have only been to three total but compared to LA beaches, it was decently clean and wasn't crowded. We got there around noon on a Saturday. We didn't have too much trouble finding parking. It's street and they have a few FREE lots. (I absolutely loathe having to pay to park anywhere.) It was the perfect time to go because all the families and surfers who came in the morning were leaving so you may have to wait a bit but there's always someone taking off. Anyways the sand was actually a white-ish color so it looked clean. Lifeguard towers located every so often. Not overly crowded - some families but it looked like more a group hangout place. There's room for kids to build sand castles, impromptu volleyball games, and a high flying game of Frisbee. The water is pretty cold when you first get in but you get used to it. Oh and they even have designated areas of the water for surfing or just swimming or playing around. We even spotted some dolphins swimming way out there. All in all we spent the better part of the afternoon just chilling and enjoying the nice weather.

This beach is awesome. It was quite, clean and right near to  El Coronado Hotel. The weather was a bit spotty (was there in April) but it didn't matter cause it was so beautiful. It was nice to finally just let my hair down and relax. If your looking for a almost private beach feel I would recommend coming here.

This beach is beautiful when the weather is sunny.  Close to the Hotel Del which is itself is also a beautiful sight.  It gets busy in this area but there's a lot of beach area to explore.  Clean, soft, and expansive sand.  Excellent views.  This place is great.

Another great place to run!!! Park on the far side by the military base and the dog beach! Get out, stretch, proceed to run onto the beach until a bit past Coronado hotel. They have the rest of the beach reserved for  military, so cut up onto the street, and head south on silver strand. go as far as out as you want and return. Repeat as needed.

Great views, great sun, great breeze, YAY FOR RUNNING HERE!

I absolutely love this beach.  It is a nice length from the sidewalk to the shore, lots of beautiful warm sand.  This beach, even when it's busy, is not really busy.  There is usually lots of privacy.  I love to ride my beach cruiser here, so much fun, anytime of year.  Beautiful shoreline, beautiful sunsets.  The air smells great!  I also like sitting on the lifeguard towers in the evenings and listen to the waves crash in.  This is a wonderfully soulful place!

This has to be the one of the more scenic beaches in San Diego.  It overlooks Sunset Cliffs, and the sand is more abundant and cleaner than most beaches in San Diego.  It's also a hop-skip away from downtown, so it's great for visitors/tourist.  Overall, one of the better beaches in the area.

Even before living in Coronado, this is where we came when we went to the beach. The sand is expansive, the crowd is not rowdy, drunk or obnoxious, there's no tacky retail kiosks, the lifeguard coverage is excellent, and the waves are perfect for kids. We come here at least once a month for dinner by a bonfire (the pits are located on the north end of the beach, just before Dog Beach and the military base)...it doesn't get much better than this. Don't miss the dunes that spell out CORONADO - my kids just brought that to my attention recently. Also, if you go down by the Hotel Del in the summer, you can hear a great local band (Ron's Garage) for FREE on the weekends. Surfing is near the Coronado Shores complex (south) or by the bonfire pits (north). We love this beach!!!

We came down here to take some sunset photos and let the kids play on the beach. How awesome was this place!

We got some incredible sunset shots over Point Loma and even got a few of the military aircraft taking off and landing. We saw a few dolphins, but I wasn't fast enough on the shutter to get more than a dorsal fin or two.

All in all, an awesome beach.

coronado is part of san diego county btw*

coronado, itself, is a small beach community with an island feel.

cool facto: from the skies, you could see the word "CORONADO" spelled out with the sand ... i'll try to find a pix online, and when i do, ill "update a review//upload it"

i'm in love ... (wasn't i always?) LOL

as a TRUE hopeless romantic, i seem to fall in love quite easily, but this place validates your true feelings with someone you love and care about  ... and that love exists and that love is real... we came here and saw it all... an experience like no other ... how often do you get to watch the sunset with someone special and wish that the day/evening would never end, to the point of coming home that very evening in tears not only because youre so happy but because you wish you could be with that person for the rest of your life. hhahahah ...  such a strange feeling... yes, i'm serious... :)))

this is a place you totally have to bring a mat and a blankie with your s/o and cuddle away, looking at the stars, and seriously holding onto that one star and not let go...

SO SO romantic...  o m g ... thank you to that special someone for showing me a whole new world...

*LE sigh*

this topped as one of my FAVES ... the downfall is that it gets a bit crowded, so it loses that intimate touch...:)

if anything, this place is probably one of the spots that you should totally propose to the one you love, but aren't all beaches like that? not quite ... this place will always leave a soft, warm fuzzy spot in my heart ... always and forevers, and i hope our relationship will never die...

one TOTAL reason i would so move to SD.....
