I stayed at the Cornhusker Marriott three times in 2009. The weekends of May 1 - 3 and August 21 - 23 as well as an extended trip from September 4 - 12. As a Marriott Platinum member all three stays were on the top concierge floor and my room included a 37" digital flat screen TV every time, so relative to a previous reviewer's comment maybe the lower level floors or certain rooms have yet to be upgraded? Regardless, every stay resulted in exceptional service, comfort, and cleanliness. The pricing ranged anywhere from $76 - $209 per night, or free on Rewards points, depending on the area events and particular stay. If it's a football weekend you can expect to pay the highest rate and rub elbows with the players and their alumni supporters in the elevators.
This 10 story lodging establishment in downtown Lincoln houses a small Starbucks, the Five Reasons bar & grille, and the Terrace Grille restaurant. I highly recommend the Terrace Grille for an exceptional lunch or dinner be it casual or business and have posted a separate Yelp review for it. There is also a swimming pool and fitness center on the lower basement level, but I never had enough free time to visit either one.
It's a bit of a walk to to the downtown shops etc. from here, but not too much of an inconvenience and we never felt uncomfortable or threatened during our walks at night. However, the hotel parking situation can be annoying. The building garage, which isn't owned or operated by the hotel, charges hourly up to $6/day except you can't just come and go at will. You have to pay for multiple visits every time within the same day. Otherwise there is metered street parking from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM every day except Sunday and certain holidays.
The Cornhusker Marriott is a very well managed full service hotel that will satisfy the temporary lodging requirements of very discriminating business and casual travelers in downtown Lincoln.
Okay, the Cornhusker is not fancy (for instance, expect an old TV, not a flatscreen digital), but it's definitely above average. What makes it a good property is the low price for quality of accommodations and level of service.
We requested special (non-aloe hypoallergenic) soap and an alternative choice was delivered to our room within a couple of minutes.
We accidentally parked in a lot when we intended to do valet service (for only $14/day... much better than the subsequent $52/day at Chicago's Swissotel!), and the staff fixed it in a jif. When we forgot our valet slips (more than once), the valets offered a "no problem" and got it like nothing ever happened.
The receptionists remembered us by room number and name throughout our stay and were available any time we had a question or wanted directions. Whenever we called down for our car, it was ready and waiting by the time we egressed.
The room itself was pretty basic, but very clean and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets were not well-fitted. The cable networks were pretty few, and the remote was a little hard to use. We appreciated the sitting area with coffee table (even ate a meal there) but weren't crazy about the shallow desk--and ended up using our laptop in bed. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, which was weird; however, it didn't seem to be affected by mildew or moisture.
The price is on the high end of hotels in Lincoln, but it's absolutely a steal when compared to similar hotels in larger cities.
I am a hotel snob, and I definitely would feel comfortable staying at the Cornhusker in the future. It's not a luxury experience, but the team running the property is adept at hospitality and make it easy to be loyal.

The Cornhusker is a comfortable hotel for the business traveler. I typically stayed on the upper floors which have flat screen televisions. If you like to watch TV, they are fairly limited on the number of channels available for viewing. I found the in-room wireless Internet to be very unpredictable during my many stays which made working from the room at night very difficult. The staff are very nice and helpful. The room service menu selection is pretty good. The Cornhusker is one of the better hotel options in Lincoln.

Wow. The Cornhusker Mariott was a great choice! Service was superb, room was very clean, and king size bed was super comfortable. I was very impressed both times I stayed here. Beautiful lobby with grand staircase. Breakfast buffet is $15 and well worth it! Room was $100 / night with same-day reservation. On my second stay here, my room had a fantastic view of downtown Lincoln. Since I stayed on the weekend, I found free street parking less than one block away.
The Cornhusker is a Marriott property, so you know that your stay is going to be a good experience. The hotel is nicely decorated, the rooms are a nice size and very clean. But best of all is the great service. I asked Tina for a room with a view. I got a room on the 8th floor with a picture-perfect view of the capital. Later I mentioned that the hotel vending machines were devoid of my favorite - diet Coke. She delivered diet Coke to my room. How nice is that? Best of all, the walls of the place are thick, I wasn't even aware of the all night party that "Buckle" was throwing. I stay at Marriott owned properties every chance I get. And I am never disappointed.....

I received a word of mouth recommendation from a co-worker to stay at this hotel. I had planned to stay at one of the normal chain hotels, like Hilton or Marriott for the frequent stayer points, but my co-worker would NOT hear of it. Thank goodness I was not stubborn and I actually listened to her. The hotel was extremely reasonably priced for the quality. It has probably been one of the NICEST hotels that I have stayed in during my many years of business travel and it fell under my hotel per diem amount. The staff was wonderfully attentive and assisted in directing me towards good eats and shopping.
